I have a block that has an image attached as a logo. The block is unexplodable and when I use block edit, it does not recognize the item, in other words, you can not select it. How can I delete this item or how do I explode an unexplodable block?
View 3 RepliesI must be using the Enhanced attribute editor the wrong way. Every time I double click the attribute block the enhanced attribute editor opens the dialog box and I have to resize it so a can see all my tags. Then I have to click the tag I want to change then click the value to change it. To change a different tag I have to repeat that process over and over. It makes attributes a complete waste of time. It’s faster to change Mtext or Dtext. I must be doing something wrong. Is there a way to get the dialog box in the image to pop up when I double click the attribute block?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe use a number of blocks with block tables for data extraction here, and whenever one of the blocks is modified and updated, all of the block tables reset to the default value. This happens for any block reference change, not just changes to the block table (which makes sense that it would reset).
How can we update these blocks without having to manually change all of the block tables afterwards?
I am in the process of fixing one of our dynamic blocks. It's a fairly simple fix where there was a typo in one of the names of our items in the lookup that needed to be fixed.
I changed the name of the item in the lookup table. I went and did the test block and it seemed to work fine, but when I bring the block into a drawing, it reverts back to the old lookup as if I did nothing at all.
I made sure that the path was correct and I even just dragged and dropped straight from Windows Explorer to no avail.Does AutoCAD keep referring to the old block? Did I forget to change something else?
my problem is whenever i make a new block a stretch point appears even if its not a dynamic block . also its not a stretch point, because when i click on it, it just move the block , and it always appear on the coordinates 0,0 it cause me a problem when I insert the block , autocad use this point as a base point , and its very far from the real block .

Drawing 1 : Contains tree blocks that have a specific scale dependant on the tree size
Drawing 2 : Contains a block with just a point and attribute data about the tree (name, size etc.)
This block is approximatly at the same location as the tree block (0,1 m precision)
Problem I want to join these two items together. In other words, in the tree block that is scaled correctly i want the attribute data with the name, size etc. These blocks don't have a corresponding unique number or something like that.
I want to create a block that will show x and y coordinate values and also an ID tag which will update ie ShaftNo 1, ShaftNo 2 etc as I add them to a drawing.
Reason: I have hundreds of centre points of old mine shafts on my drawing which I need to identify so wish to create a drawing and excel sheet which will show the number of the shaft and also the xy coordinates.

Scenario: Floor plan with the room as a block. I go to the actual block drawing and edit it. I then try to re-insert it into the existing drawing, but the drawing still uses the same block that was originally inserted.
How is possible to change the name the block? I tried to do that through the properties window and it was not possible.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhere I have a drawing with 3D faces creating the Chassis of a desk, and the top and pulls were inserted from other drawings and are blocks. There are numerous drawings with this scenario and I am looking for a way to explode the blocks ONLY in the drawings without exploding the 3D faces as well. Then we'd like to purge the drawing of the nested blocks before saving it.
I'm hoping there is a solution that doesn't require us to open each drawing individually as there are hundreds of them...if not thousands. We didn't catch this 'mistake' until today and have created many, many product lines (started in November) with this issue.
I have a block that has to be update in a bunch of drawings -more than 20-. I updated in only one drawing, apply coy paste to the following but the block does not update in the drawing that I am pasting my new block. How is possible to update this block in the following 19 drawings?

Can i pull in info from an excel document, or do i have to enter the info line by line in the lookup table? (i have 400 names to assign in one of the dropdown menus)

I want to create a dynamic block that as I select my pick point to move it over it stretches the box, however at the same time it arays 2 other lines at the same time. The trick is I need the 2 lines that array to renceter them self within the overall box thats being strtched. To put this in exact teerms I'm looking to create a dynamic block of a reinforced concrete slab that you can stretch to the length you want and at teh same time the reinforcing sysmbeol (----- X-----) will array itself and recenter. However when you insert the border block with the dynamic ones you can't do anything with them? Is there anyway of making the border 'flexible' or something so that it maintains the fact that it is a block with all the attributes but you can use the embedded dynamic ones. Other than the obvious edit block in place or block editor?

Somehow I switched my UCS without noticing from X,Y,X to Z,Y,X. Though the UCS was changed my layout never switched orientation (flat square remained flat square and did not turn into a line).
I was alerted to the error when inserting the blocks. Half of the blocks were showing up as thin lines (in the Z plane) and half where showing up in the X plane.
I was able to correct the UCS by typing UCS, world view, then PLAN, current.
My question now: How can I fix the blocks that where "created" in the Z plane so that they can be inserted into the X plane without having to 'rotate3d' every time I insert a block?
I wonder if this can be done. i have a number of blocks which have labels to them i.e. JW1, JW2, JW3 etc. which corresponds to the block name. Is it possible to have the label automatically referenced to the block name so if i change the block name to JW10 the label within the block changes to JW10 as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several architects who use VectorWorks that then export their electrical to me in a dwg format. I then use a program that makes intelligent devices from their blocks. The problem is that if there are 300 receptacles that are exactly the same, there is be 300 different block names for then such as group_205-1. In the past I just individually insert my intelligent block over each one of their blocks. But Now I am wondering if there is a way to select all the blocks and give them the same name and not have them all disappear because autocad sees them as duplicates.
I tried block replace, but it is one at a time and it gets rid of the old block. I then downloaded a trial of mblockreplace.vlx. However, it seems to also make all the blocks disappear. How to give the blocks the same name in a multi-select fashion without them all disappearing afterwards?
I've a symbol of three layers as a block in a dwg file. When I copy and paste the block in a other dwg file, all layers are displaced. And I don't know why.

so when i change the parameter of the distance between the 2 geometry , the block length will ajust accordingly i'm not new to the dynamic block but to using parameters with it, never done that.
what I need to do to fix the elevation tag block below? I want the text to rotate and be readable as I rotate the block. Right now the text rotates but it's not readable when it's on the left hand side.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a student that downloaded and installed the 2013 student version of AutoCAD. She then opened a drawing we were working on in class (2012 standard version) and continued to work at home. She is able to save that drawing by clicking the save button on the Quick Access toolbar, however she is unable to "Saveas" that drawing to a different name or different release. The dialog box resets the file name to a file path on her C drive as soon as you move the mouse.
The same thing happens when she goes to make a block - she can type a block name in the window, but as soon as the mouse moves, the name changes to a block name already in the list.
I have a drawing with multiple instances of a dynamic block. I have a second drawing with said block modified.
I want the first drawing's block to be updated to the modified block without reinserting each block separately.
I don't have the block as a separate file to "insert", only available to copy. With it being dynamic, I don't trust using the block editor and just copy/paste from the modified into the original.
Is there a way to redefine the block?
I have started to creates some sketch blocks.The only issue i have is when i go and place them in a drawing they get placed way outside the layout so i have to drag them into the layout sheet.How do i get the sketch block to be placed into the layout..

I have checked that all the variables attmode, attdia, attreq, filedia, and cmddia are all set to 1 in both drawings. What am I missing? I'm using 2014. I'm attaching the drawing I want to insert.
