AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Convert Arcs To Splines
Feb 12, 2013How can I convert arcs to splines.

View 5 RepliesI want to turn this shape on the left, into one like the one on the right... i.e., not so many points.
I basically want to convert the polylines into arcs or something. i can do this by redrawing, thats no problem, but this is a very simple drawing compared to what i normally have to deal with, this is just an example.
I have a giant polyline containing a mix of arcs and straight segments, and I would like to convert all of the arcs into a series of small, straight lines so that I can use the polyline with a plug-in I wrote to use the polyline as a selection polygon.
Someone mentioned something about WMFOUT and WMFIN but that gave me some pretty weird, wobbly lines as a result and plus it didn't scale things the same when I used WMFIN.
I have a bugging problem.
I usually use Inventor to create a model from customer supplied blueprints, and then use the model to get the 2D geometry into
AutoCAD for further processing.
Now, unfortunately Inventor has a pitiful 2D drawing method, where circles and arcs that do not lie exactly on the plane end up as a spline.
They are true arcs and circles and should be true arcs and circles on the 2D view, but aren't.
What I would like to do is turn them into one.
Is there any command or method to do that?
I was hoping that Overkill would work ..... it doesn't.
I am working on a drawing with a lot of splines. I need to dimension the curves to some rational dimensions which means I need to convert the splines to arcs. Is there away to do that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing of a map full of polylines and some splines. I want to somehow select or show only the splines for then to convert them into polylines to make them ready for laser printing.
The drawing has thousands of lines so selecting one by one to see if its a spline will take forever.
I am really in need of knowing how to convert splines to lines?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got ObjectIds of a bunch of arcs that I need to convert to polylines for further processing.
I was thinking of using the COM interface and sending the PEDIT command and converting the arcs.
The only problem is I don't know of a way to put the objectids into a selection set, then call the pedit command and use the previous selection.
I searched and saw lots of posts on converting a spline object into a pline, but not the other way around. I like the way that splines can use control vertices or fit points.
I know that you can apply a spline smoothing to a pline, but what I'd like to do is to convert a pline object into a spline object and splining a pline does not do that.
Any fairly easy way to do this? Are there LISP routines that do this?
I have many segmented polylines that I need to turn into arcs. See the attached image for the method I use to create an arc from a single polyline. I need to do this to thousands of polylines. Does some other method that can do many polylines at once?

How do I make not so segmented?
how can I control the splines to make a perfect arc. Is there an other way to control the spline with out draging each point of the spline?
View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, now installing Service Pack 1 (kept crashing, this time it's working though), and I'm trying to find the area of a pathway that I've drawn in 2D with standard lines. Using the area tool, I want to find the area of the path, but it arcs around a 180 degree corner. I tried getting a rough estimate of the area by clicking at several points along each of the arcs, but after clicking a point where the arc joins the straight line of the straight section of the path, it literally won't let me click the next point. I can, however, specify the next point as long as it's nowher near the arc. Same goes for the polyline tool.
Just got an error code for the Service Pack installation, too. "A problem prevented the service pack from being installed, contact your administrator. Error 1603"
If I have imported a large multi-spline object, is there a way to bust it up into separate splines easily -- without having to detach each one individually?

View 4 Replies View Relatedim working whit and have purchased a computer to plate punch that works with files in nc1 extension, but only works with extensions Autocad dxf and dwg, so we are looking for if Autodesk has a module to convert dxf or dwg extensions to nc1.
I've found one that converts a DXF NC1 but I found one that converts DXF to NC1.
I want to convert the .dwg file to .bmp in AutoCAD 2013 using interop services in API
I have a code to perform this in AutoCAD 2012 but that is not working fine in AutoCAD 2013.
This is what i tried
AcadSelectionSet oSS = null;
short[] ftype = new short[1];
ftype[0] = 410;
object[] fdata = new object[1];
fdata[0] = "Model";
acadapp.ZoomExtents();
oSS = _acadapp.ActiveDocument.SelectionSets.Add("MySet");
oSS.Select(AcSelect.acSelectionSetAll, null, null, ftype, fdata);
acadapp.ActiveDocument.Export(OutputFileName, "BMP", oSS);

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have around 100 dwg files, client wants the soft copy in dgn format, also layers needs to be renamed in dgn.
I need to convert those files to dgn, any script to run so it does it automatically?
Converting it manually one by one will take me some time.
I have been using autocad quite frequently lately and for some reason today I cannot convert my DWG files into PDF, although I have done the many times before. I have even tried opening old drawings to convert them to PDF and nothing will export.
