Using purge command in AutoCAD 2012 , my windows get restart with blue dump.
I tried everything including..digonestic mode, 3gb swithing ,windows update, dot net update, windows firewal/antivirus desbled.
some times while using purge command its give a display error(attached ).I tried using windows 64 bits, but problem remains the same.
what is this purge command, i practice cad 2010. i don't understand the use of purge command.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have multiple drawings that were burned to a cd and sent to a client. The client used the reference mananger and found multiple fonts/shapes/plotstyles missing. (not found) I have found most and updated the path. There are some that i was not able to find, and because of the size of this project, unable to determine where the original fonts/shape files came from. There was originally 5 firms involved with numerous cad drawings. The missing fonts and shapes are not used in the drawings and i would like to detach them from there drawings so when the client runs the reference manager they will not be looked for, thus not come back as "not found."
When i attempt to use the purge command to do this, the fonts/shapes do not appear and can't be purged. Can i manually open a drawing and detach the fonts and shapes? I need to present a cd that when the drawings are scanned by the reference manager, all fonts/xrefs/shapes ect. are found. For the shapes/fonts i could find, i created a seprate folder on the cd and edited the path to look there, solving the problem. But i have no solution thus far for the not found shapes/fonts/shx files and no original owners i can turn to to get them.
Why my Block command does not work anymore?
I type in the command ( I'm an old school typer, hate the buttons ) BLOCK....then the next thing that happens is (after hitting enter of course), my crosshairs instantly turn into the Windows arrow.
I wasn't playing with any switches. I was just trying to make a little block with a number in it.
Yes, I restarted AutoCAD, restarted the computer, did not reload in AutoCAD.....AutoCAD 2011 by the way.
I run Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I have to do a WBLOCK to make the blocks I need to bypass this odd behavior.
We have about 300+ dwg's on which somebody edited the 'xref in place'.
This has caused the particular dwg files to expand from 300k to 4mb.
Purging seems to have no effect. Is there any way of reducing the file size on these back to normality?
I cannot get dialog boxes for purge, xref, etc. I only get the command line.
I made sure filedia=1 and cmddia=1.
The tilde ~ key will not bring up the dialog box from the command line.
I'm working on 2010, and I can't get the PURGE dialogue box to show up when using the PU shortcut. It will open if I type out PURGE completely, but when I type in PU, stuff just shows up in the command prompt. I even went into the alias-editor and made sure PU = PURGE. I've never had this issue before, but I'm on a new system because I started a new job. At my last job, we were also using 2010, and everything was fine.

Same applies with the text styles.
When I purge a drawing, the text styles are not a selectable option (as if there are no purgeable text styles). if i use (-purge), it will purge the unused text styles. I can also go into the Styles dialog box and delete the styles. It happens in all drawings and nobody else in the dept has the problem. I can't find any settings that would exclude any items from the purge dialog box as well. Autocad 2012? windows 7 64 bit.

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

same with QSAVE and who knows how many others.
I recently loaded several versions of AutoCAD on to a Windows 7 machine. ALL versions will open a drawing if double-clicked from windows explorer, but if I try to open through AutoCAD, the program freezes as soon as I click on the "Open" button. This is true for AutoCAD 2010 through 2012.

I also cannot open multiple instances of ANY version of AutoCAD in Windows 7.
I try to load AutoCAD 2010 on windows 7 but it keeps on failing Language Pack - English failed installation aborted, Result 1624 so it rolls back and doesn't install.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to use my ERASE command in order to use a window polygon but I'm not getting the results in need. This is what happens....
I type in ERASE, then WP and from there I select my polygon shape and the items I want deleted. I don't join the last endpoint of the window with the first point I just hit ENTER twice but nothing happens.
When customizing the screen menus, adding a few icons or pull down menus, when autocad is restarted, Autocad reverts back to the default menu. How can I set this up to retain any menu changes I make.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly having an issue where the "Fill" command is not working. It doesn't matter if I use Shift+Backspace or Shift+F5 or by going to Edit>Fill. It goes through the motions and the Fill action is recorded in the history panel, but the layer is not filled. The only way I've successfully filled is with the Paint Bucket, and that's just not as convenient.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running AutoCAD Map 3D 2011. When i use the ID command to acquire x,y coordinates by snapping to an object, it gives me only one decimal place. When i do the command out in space, it gives me 4 decimal spaces. I need to get at least two decimal places while snapping to objects. Examples below:
id command (out in space, not using osnap)
X = 4006431.3366 Y = 359556.5635
id command (snapping to entity)
X = 4006252.3000 Y = 360712.5000
by the way, my units precision is set to .00 and it doesnt seem to make any difference with the id command.
I have been using the MVSetup command to adjust a view port orientation however when I do this the Pickfirst command is changed to 0 - it was only by chance I discovered this and was able to change it back. Also, is there a command to reset all changes made through MVSetup in a viewport ?
