I want to union all the members in a complex roof truss structure so I can 3D print the model (picture attached). It seems intermittent in which elements will union and which wont. Revisiting the elements they sometimes then union. Sometimes there is no error message while sometimes 'Inconsistent Edge Face Relationship'

I tried to slice a solid after a quite complex surface and received this error.
"The Boolean operation on solid and/or surface bodies failed.Modeling Operation Error: Inconsistent face-body relationships.SLICE failed for selected solid."
What I have tried:I up-scaled the surface-solid ensemble by 10x but it didn't work(same error)
I extruded that complex,multi-plane surface and then sliced it with a horizontal plane and got the desired solid BUT:I would like to know what the cause of that problem was and how it can be solved so that I can slice that solid following that surface.
I have several script commands that insert items such as title blocks (xrefs) and page boundaries (blocks). The base point and INSBASE for all files are set to 0,0,0. However the blocks will occassionally come in at different positions. In some cases I can repeat the command multiple times and each time the same block will inset at a different position in the same drawing even though the insert point is set to 0,0,0.

Trying to set a Phantom line as the property line and also use dashed lines (ACAD_ISO03w100)
I can mess with the ltscale and make it so one or the other reads properly, but never both. The Phantom displays correctly at ltscale: 1, the dashed lines display when ltscale is .1 they are on different layers
I re-opened a drawing this morning and found some text to be different height from the rest. When I attempted to adjust all of the heights to be the same using the properties method, they all became bigger. Instead of all of them going to 6", the 5" text went to 6" and the 6" text went to 7-3/16". So, I checked the formatting size and the properties size and they did not match. See PDF.

I need to fillet part on an edge on the top face of the enclosed part, is this possible? I have tried a few things but the fillet command always selects all the edges on the face to fillet.
once selected it says in the selection box that 15 edges are selected, and I can't ctrl click to remove any of them singly, basically it will deselect them all? I have made sure I have loop select off.

This has happened since I updated to 2012 Professional. When I want to use the measure tool or add constrains in assembly mode, the face/edge preview does not show up in red under Select Component Priority. I have to wait for the select other option to come up to see which face I am on. If I click on the face or edge it will show up but not until I do. I don't remember changing any settings that would cause this. I could have the select other option delay set to zero or I could change it to another selection priority but I don't remember having to do that before.

On another note, would it be possible to get a world coordinates of the U or V vectors of a vertex? I had been trying to calculate it from two vertices that has around the same V values, but in some cases they don’t exist.
I am attempting to split a face so I have a good area to apply a load in simulation and 3/4 of the areas split just fine but I CANNOT get the 4th area to split! This is all just projected geometry but left and right are symmetrical so I can't figure out why the L side works but not the R side.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import a Polyface Mesh of a road plan to use in Terramodel. Terramodel handles .dwf and .dxf perfectly, but I seem to be having trouble preserving the elevations when importing. The polyface mesh imports in as polylines and without preserving the given elevations. I have used autocad in the past and have access to Autocad Civil 3d 2012 if need be.
Is there an import tool or command I am missing or unaware of that will allow the import to take place successfully?
I am creating a 3D model and have my selected view within a viewport on layout space.
My prefered visual style for the model is with no face style (i.e only isolines visible) with full shadows on. This looks perfect on layout space.
When plotting to pdf - it looks nothing like as shown despite setting the viewport shade style to as displayed or the selected visual style and the shadows don;t show.
As the pdf option is not providing the desired output. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there a way to render the model whilst showing no face style/material?
When trying to use the 3D shell command, I receive "Face loops not repairable" error. Why I get this error?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time i open the view rapp folder the relationship folder will open too. If i will close the relationship folder...and open again the view rapp then it repeats.
The problem is that my assemblies has many parts an a lots of constraints...so my browser is quickly full of constraints visually. I use a lots the view rapp...so there is away to maintain the relationship folder closed ...or open only when i will click on it?
how to edit a solid with opening a hole only one face and deleting an another face..
I added a drawing file which has a coloured face solid,I put a circle on blue face and making a hole on this face,and I want to delete red face without exploding solid,after all this I want to mesh this solid with maximum 25 units.
There is any option to merge bottom face of pad eye and pipe curved face... Something like
1. Extrude face to a surface or
2. like notch option available in frame generator ?
N:B - pad eye is made by extrusion and pipe made by frame generator.
How does one change the measurement units?...or does one want to? What is the relationship between the measurement tool and the actual printout?
I draw a box, I measure the box and it tells me its 37.886 (what r the units?) I do a printout at 1:1 on an 8.5x11 landscape and nothing matches.....?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAll I need to do is merge a circular face to a flat face, so both faces become one continuous face. Is this possible at all?
I have a attached a screenshot to show what I mean. Face 1 needs to be merged with face 2. This is so if I constrain anything to that face it will constrain to the entire face and not either the circular face OR the flat face.
Everytime I try to join a room I get this error "Part of the roof to be joined misses the target face"

My 0,0 point refers to the actual survey co-ordinates which I need to continue to use as regularly share my file with the surveyor and we need to be working on the same 0,0 point. Because I am working in mm 0,0 is therefore further from my drawing that it would be in m. Will changing to metres make a significant difference to me? My file has 34 layout pages and even more viewports which I would have to re scale if I changed the units in my drawings or is there a simpler way of doing this than rescaling the drawing by a factor of 0.001?

This is more commonly known as an "Area Inlet" application, and is also used in areas such as airport runways, greenbelts and golf courses.
To develop the correct operating head relationship over the grate, we need to be able to enter a stage-storage curve starting from the grate elevation. This will develop the "cone" shape storage needed to develop the correct head elevation over the grate.
It appears looking at the On Sag options there is only the Ponded Area parameter available; the same parameter found in a Junction. This calculates the head elevation as a function of the ponded volume and a constant area.
I want to confirm that the On Sag inlet application used as an Area inlet, is using all four sides, full perimeter = 2(L+W), of the inlet for the weir flow calculations before orifice flow controls, not just 3 sides as a grate on a curb.

I have written this code to check the name of the layouts and determine if the are to our company standard or not and if they are close enough to determine what they should be rename them. I create a drawing with severl differant layout names to test the code but I am getting inconsistent results. The drawing I created has 9 layouts named M2_03, M2_04, m3_01, m3_02, tm01_25, tm2.05, tm2.06a, TM2_01, and TM2_02A. It seems to be crashing on the tm2.06a but I can not figure out why.

why sometimes it work and checks all the layouts, but most of the time it only does some of the layouts.
I am trying to align the curtain wall with the edge of the concrete slab/face of wood framed wall (Core). I have tried to align and move however the whole wall moves as well as the edge of the slab. How I can move the Curtain wall leaving the other elements in place?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have noticed in the past that in x-refs the layer colors can be inconsistent but never really thought about it. But I have just started looking into it, I created 2 simple drawings with a layer called 'one' and in each drawing gave the layer a different color value. In each drawing there is a rectangle on that layer, and then the first drawing is x-ref'd into the second. OK no problems so far. If you now go back into the first drawing and change the layer color, and save the drawing, the second drawing lets you know that a reference has changed and needs updating, but the color doesn't change, and if I then add new geometry into the first drawing and update the x-ref in the second drawing it shows up as the original color of the layer.
I haven't checked yet if any other properties behave in the same way, but I am just trying a color coding system for checking when items have been updated, and this throws a spanner in the works, how to update the properties, or is it possibly a system variable.
Is there a way to use PRESSPULL on a face that's behind or underneath another face. When I use PRESSPULL it always selects the face on top and sometimes I want a face that is behind or underneath that face.

We are only one file only in that also we are getting error.
What I have is a highway that is being twinned, however the divided lanes are not consistantly the same distance away (or the same width of roadtop). I would like to keep the number of alignments to a minimum. Both lanes would be based off the same vertical profile. So I would like to have a single assembly that could adjust the median width in the center, and the lane width. Targetting the horizontal layout you can see in the attached screenshot. (this is not all of the job of course)
Is this a feasible task for the targetting assemblys? Would be a fairly standard 4:1 side slopes, adjustable ditch bottom width, 2% crowned road otherwise.
