View 3 RepliesI've been using Autocad 2014 for several months now, and I've noticed that every couple days or so it turns off my autosave. I can check the box to enable it, and set it to 10 minutes, and a couple days later it will be unchecked and say 0 minutes in the box. I don't know how often it happens, I know it takes more than one day, but it's really annoying and one of those things I usually only find AFTER I have a drawing crash on me.
Is this some kind of software or profile issue?
It seems as though having this option in the Preferences unchecked is the default. I work with pattern tiles a lot and I ALWAYS want them to scale and move etc... with the object they're applied to. Every time I open an old file (from a previous version of AI where this option was checked) or start a new file, the option is unchecked, and I've really messed up some art when I've edited without realizing my pattern tiles aren't following along.
How do I make this option persistent? I always have to go in and check the damn little box before I can make any edits. BTW, I'm using AI CS6 through the cloud, so I should be all up to date.
We are having an issue with AutoSave we have it setup to save to a certain fold every 10min and it isnt' saving to the fold. It used to save just fine and all of a sudden stopped.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently converted mtext to multileader text & i thought it was causing some issues but now im not so sure. Some of my users are experiencing a long time to regen & it has caused some peoples computers to freeze up. Is there a setting or a variable that could be causing this? I am not sure if this is an issue with the multileaders or with autocad release 13 or 14 in general. I had the users turn regenauto off until i can find a solution.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever I create a new layer in the Layer Manager, and I set the color, the color reverts back to whatever it defaulted to when I created the new layer - usually the color of that layer that is current, since everything is just duplicated.
To fix it I have to go back into Layer Manager and set the color a second time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way for xrefs to stay attached to a drawing file when using Dropbox as a network? All files are saved to the dropbox which is loaded on both computers that need to access the files. If I do work and save an xref in a file that is then opened by someone else on a different computer, the xref is not loaded and has to be re-routed. Is there a way to avoid having to reroute xrefs everytime someone different opens the file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a block that I would like make dynamic. It is a fishhook arrow for a roundabout traffic sign. I would like to rotate the head to various angles, and have the body of the arrow adjust. I already have the ability to stretch the two end points in their direction, and rotate the head, but the curved part of the arrow body needs to adjust for the new head location. I tried dynamic stretch, but it would not attach to the rotate dimension. How do I get these arcs to stretch along their radii and associate the end arc points to the near end of arrow head?
I had one thought of using multipe arcs so that they would overlap more or less as rotated, but this is a pretty crude workaround.

I recently upgraded to 2012 but forgot to install the express tools, Doh!. I installed them through control panel repair and everything works. Except when I close and restart ACAD the menu bar express menu disappears. I can bring it back by using cuiload but this is not ideal. Any way to get it to stick?

We have a user that has been experiencing problems when checking files into vault. The problem occurs when he copies a design (the drawing and part file) in vault then checks out the files to make changes, saves it and checks it back in, Inventor doesn't check in the changes. The preview window (i.e.. dwf that's generated on check in) is correct however the thumbnail is wrong and when you open the latest version none of the changes have been made.
This is taking up a lot of time because he has to make the changes twice and also has to be constantly looking back in vault to files he has just checked in to make sure they are correct.
I am trying to set up a search folder in Vault that would find files checked out by all the users.
In my Tools---Find I would set the Property for Checked Out By, Condition to contains. Now, what to enter in the Value window so it searches all the users, the thing is I dont want to enter all the user id's, there are quite few of them.
it here instead of Vault's message board but Vault's one seems to be rather inactive.
Why on ocassion Inventor tells me that the file I am working on is checked out by another user and that I cant save the changes. I find this a bit bizzare as I am the only person in the office using inventor although it is installed in other machines.I realise that all I have to do is steal the checkout, but I would really like to understand why it does this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Inventor Suite 2010 on a new computer and I am receiving this error on a majority of my files.
Cannot modify the library file W:T46DManufacturing Drawings8300673-.idw
Component W:T46DManufacturing Drawings8300673-.idw is not checked out to you. Edits are not allowed on this file.
I understand this has something to do with using Vault. However since I am the only one using Inventor and these files are not shared, I did not install Vault on the old computer or the new one.
I was under impression that Library (custom) parts should not get checked out.
But in our case they do - It should not be happening since we have multiple users working with the same parts.
is it possible to trigger an Autosave before executing my vb.net-code? I'm rather new to vb.netcode and in case of an unexpexted error AutoCad sometimes crashes. If I Could trigger an auto-save before the code is run, no information in the drawing is lost, but can be obtained in an autosave-file.
I cannot trigger a Save of SaveAs, because i don't know if the user wanted to save the drawing, for examples if the user reads an older drawing, removes/deletes objects etc, but is unaware of the drawing being saved, it could result in problems.
how can I prevent autosave from happening in the middle of a command. it is very frustrating and can potentially cause a crash (rarely though).
DO NOT TELL ME TURN OFF AUTOSAVE. I like it on, want it on and my computer has no issue handling it and it rarely crashes during.
Is there any way to easily determine if any file in a user's workspace is checked out from Vault?
I'm building an Inventor addin to clear files from a user's workspace. Before i delete any files I need to know if the user has any files checked out. I was hoping there was an easy way(inside of Inventor) to programmitically check if a folder contains any checked out files.

I am a typer, so run commands very fast. I am seeing crashes right after an autosave, when I hit escape fast.
This never happened before, and does not happen on 2009.
Autodesk added the "intellisense" for commands in 2013.
This kind of instability is likely tied to that addition that we turn off.
Is there a way to completely disable the intellisense, like clearing the list of commands or something.
Sometimes when Autocad autosaves my dwg's, one of the dwg's replaces the other one. So I end up with two identical dwg's with different filename.
e.g.
Lets say I have two dwg's up at the same time, called "Car.dwg" and "House.dwg".
Sometimes when the autosave is finished it ends up with a car on both of the dwg, and the one that previously had a House drawing on it, is now a car with "House.dwg" filename.
I was working away at a project when my hand braised the ALT button and something else , suddenly the command line started going wild with line after line after line of I don't even know what, then the window just closed. My Auto save is on and I've looked for the file with no luck. I've tried looking in the temp files and so on like every thing on the web says but nothing. 3 hours of work I am going to redo in the morning since I've been working for 13 hours straight now..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Autosave set to 10min and the file location D:/Autodesk/Autosave, file extension .ac$. I see the progress bar appearing at bottom left, so I know the function is active. I had a situation yesterday where I inadvertently closed a drawing without saving the changes and thought I would be able to at least recover up to the previous 10min by renaming the last ac$ as a dwg; but when I looked in the directory there are no ac$ files, only .bak. I have just checked now and there is one ac$ file - for the currently open drawing. Why aren't the ac$ files being retained?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn Acad Architecture 2013 30 day trial, Autosave and backup are not working, even tho they are checked in Options>Open & Save>File Safety... View 8 Replies View RelatedWhenever anyone at the company tries to open a model that has a decal part in it, the File Edit window comes up asking if the person wants to check out the part. As decals generally never change after they are created, they are never desired to be checked out. After saying no to check out, the window then reappears stating that the local is never than the vault, even though you just finished a Get operation. Is there anyway to keep these files from needed constant updating?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy co-worker is having an issue with re-pathing the autosave location.
When it is re-pathed there is an error that says:
'The directory specified for automatic saves must exist and have read-write permission. The value previously saved for the automatic save files will be used.'
The file that it is linked to was just created, and the user has full administrative rights.
In turn this effectively makes the autosave not work.
I'm weaning myself off of Adobe's PDFMaker and learning how to publish.
I've got everything working but I'm prompted at an Adobe prompt (Save PDF File As...) for every sheet
which is overwhelming when I have multiple drawings with multiple sheets.
I don't know how (or if it is possible) to make it just save to the default name and continue onto the next one.
I don't consider myself a minimalist in any way, but I like to keep my personal folders clean of any system files. I recently changed the path for the autosave-folder as it intruded my private work files. The problem is that even though I did change the path, every time I start AutoCAD a new 'Autodesk'-folder is created in my personal folder. It still contains the sub-level 'Autosave'.
