i have big problem to save in Autocad 2011, then we save in 2007 DWG format it takes up to 3-4 min even local this problem exist, reinstalled i computer totally clean, no antivirus just windows 7 and updated,even disabled fidelity. then i save in 2010 format it goes fast.
View 4 RepliesI work in a print shop that prints biggish stuff. I will frequently have files that postscript to close to a GB or more. Working on simple vector art with a few images in CC is not too much of a problem, but I still notice CC is slower than CS 6. The big problem is when I get a few 200mb PDF's, or files with layers of transparent PSD files in them etc, big busy files, then AI CC really bogs down, or frequently crashes altogether. CS 6 is MUCH better. I don't have the font issues, AI CC works fine with simple files. Saving & opening these big files is such a problem, I just save them back to CS 6, but that causes problems too, I do not want to, nor should I have to have 2 versions open at the same time.
I always try to optimize the files as best possible, but it is tough sometimes as they R supplied by the customer, and the time it takes. We save to a Windows Server 2008 R2 box over gigabit network, which I know is not best practice, but no choice with the sheer volume of files. Would B insane to try to keep track & copy them back & forth, and it was never a big issue with CS 6. I am the first victim in our office, but the other 3 Mac Pro's will B switching over to CC this week, and I know the operators will B crying.

Autocad 2012 was working fine until a week ago when it started taking a long time to open drawings--even search for drawings on our network. It also takes at least 30 seconds to save files, where it used to take 5 seconds at most.
I found the AutoCad 2012 and AutoCad LT 2012 SP1 Ribbon Hotfix, which sounded like my problem, but it is for Product Version F.107.0.0 and I have Product Version F.51.0.0.
When the senior engineer at our company opens my acad drawings all of the text justification is off.
I'm using acad 2009 mech and saving as to 2007.
He is using 2007 LT?
When I I convert a 2012 dwg into a 2007 format whether using true view or "saving as" 2007 from an open drawing, some of the graphics disappear. How do I convert withour losing these graphics?

Now with version 2010, all of the fractions (where this command was used) display as a question mark. This is a major issue since now all of our isometric drawings are displaying this in regards to text.

my user has AutoCAD Inventor 2010 and she wants to open a file created using AutoCAD 2007 but always failed with the error message that system running on low memory then Autocad will close. The file can be open without problem using AutoCAD 2007. I'd tried using a computer with Xeon Processor and 4 GB RAM but still facing the same problem so I guessed it's not the hardware problem. Is it a bug and how to solve it?

View 0 Replies View RelatedWe have started to deploy AutoCAD 2011 64 Bit on Windows 7 64 Bit machines and have come across an issue where when opening or saving files across a Cisco WAAS accelerated network that have referenced images takes a lot more time than drawings that do not have attached images. We have updated graphics drivers to the most recent certified driver from the autodesk site as well as disabling Aero and all the other Windows 7 tweaks to no avail. The files with images still open/save much slower than those without.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOver the years I have had to occassionally save (export) an Inventor idw into an AutoCAD dwg file. Now, at IV version 2013, does it still not happen correctly. Why doesn't the process export the title block, border, notes, etc. into AutoCAD's paper space and export the model and dimensions into model space all in one step. It's either all paper space or all model space. Then I have to spend time to correct the AutoCAD drawing. Is there a better method to do this that results in a correct AutoCAD drawing in one export step? Maybe a third party software?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue when opening and saving files is very slow when I have a project active in the Project Navigator.
If I have an active project, and I open a file via Project Navigator or Windows Explorer, the process hangs for 15-20+ seconds at the 'Opening C:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.ac$' point, where it is creating the temporary file.
If I 'Close the current project' in the project browser and open the same file via Windows Explorer, the process takes less than a second.
I tried searching for "Slow scroll" and found one topic about scrolling through layers, but not scrolling through the drawing in general.
Problem: When using the mouse to scroll through a drawing with an attached pdf underlay, the motion suddenly gets really choppy, and slow. The PDF is about 3.5 Mb. Its very annoying knowing that my computer should be able to handle it and then some.

I recently upgraded from ACAD 2004 to ACAD 2012. In ACAD 2004, plotting was extremely quick. In ACAD 2012, plotting seems to be extremely slow. A basic drawing in 2004 plotted as a pdf file using CUTE PDF or PDF Creator would take about 5-10 seconds. In ACAD 2012, a similar file using the same CUTE PDF or PDF Creator will take up to 2-3 minutes. Not a long time but when you are plotting a dwg set that has up to 10 tabs in it, it takes 20-30 minutes just to plot. Is there any way to speed up the plotting in ACAD 2012? I have both ACAD 2004 and ACAD 2012 loaded on the same computer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of dwg's that were converted from dgn's using Microstation V8's batrch convert utility. In many of them there are these Mtext objects that, when I hover over them, or when I pick them to change their properties using the properties dialog, slow performance way down. I have to wait about ten seconds for the machine to catch up.
This can get pretty annoying since it ouccurs when I merely cross over the objects when I am not in any command whatsoever.
The text objects are referring to a font that I do not have installed on this machine. I think it defualted to using simplex.shx as a result. I did not get any errors or warnings about the missing shx when I opened the file.
Using Civil 3D on a 64 bit Win 7 Dell POS - everything is up to date.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I am in ISO view and chose anything other than wireframe, like "Realistic" panning and zooming are very slow. Even a smaller drawing does not act normal. I use a 3rd party software for modeling ductwork and piping, the drawings work fine on our other machine, so it's not the modeling software. It's also not the drawing file, I have tried other drawings that I had no past issues with but it still bogs down.
I have tried the following:
Updated video driver.
Tried different settings under "Options" "Display" and "3D Performance"
Ran AutoCad repair.
Checked and turned off all snap settings and grid.

What would cause AutoCAD to choke, ONLY when viewing a model from one direction? In my case, it's the right view, and it doesn't matter how I get to that view, ie "view, right" or "dview,clip". Views from other directions regen almost instantly, but from the right takes a full minute, while Acad tells me up top that it's [not responding].
Issue is only in single dwg. Tried audit, purge, etc. Wondering if there is some obscure (dwg specific) system variable causing this, before trying the WB to get rid of an offensive entity.
Seems that the Save format keeps getting changed back to 2010 in AutoCAD 2013. We set the Save Preferences to save as 2013 in the Options > Open & Save > File Save: Save As box to 2013.
It seems that if you open an older version of AutoCAD, say v2010, then the next time you want to save a drawing (not necessarily the drawing you just opened, but another one you are working on) even if it was already in v2013, it gets saved back to v2010. And when you go back into the options dialog, it now is set to save everything as v2010. This wouldn't be so annoying if it didn't take 30 seconds to save the drawing as a v2010 drawing. There is a substantial difference in the time it takes to save a drawing to v2010 when using AutoCAD 2013.
Is there a way to make it stick to saving as a v2013 format?
I have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.

If command is given first, verb-noun, no hesitation after selecting at Select Objects: prompt. But, selecting any entity first, noun-verb, causes the 5-second delay before the mouse is again active. Very annoying. Closing the Properties Palette completely seems to cure the delay problem, but at a different cost in editing time. The workstation is running WinXP Pro with 4 gigs of ram.

I installed the service pack, I tried removing the layer filters and a few other fixes that are out there. The machine is powerful enough to handle the application.
I tried reinstalling the application and that didn't do anything. The DWG file that's on the network share is being used by other people without any issue, I'm the only one having this problem.
i have a test drawing attached with layout 1 and layout 2.
from model to layout 1 takes 2-3 seconds on my crappy computer, from model to layout 2 takes 8-10 seconds on the same crappy computer.
this sample i attached has a xref binded. which result is the same 3 and 8 seconds respectively.
you may think this is not a big deal. but layout 1 will take 10 seconds to to switch to if you have 5 xref while layout 2 will take a minute.
i did my research and haven't find the difference in variables between the two paperspace layouts.
tried all the variables made no difference:
psltscale, msltscale, celtscale, savefidelity, etc.
also set both viewoprts to undefined same thing.
the only difference is "1" is created from a blank autocad template by selecting "metric - no template", and "2" is imported from a civil 3d dwg after done a plan/profile production and that thing created that layout.
is there a tool to compare all variables between 2 layouts and find the differences? i am certain the problem lie within system variables.

When switching from layout to model space, and back again, and when switching layouts the regen is slow to an extreme, upwards of (3) minutes. Using Renenall in layout, the regens are quite slow as well. Windows 7, AutoCAD 2011, NVIDIA Quadro FX1800, most current driver.
Additionally, when publishing, the regens are equally slow. LAYOUTREGENCTL setting seems to have no affect.
I import PDFs in Drawings and it takes forever to print. PDFs are only 400KB, so not big files.
