AutoCAD 2010 :: Set UCS Angle By Selecting Two Points
Apr 12, 2013
In previous version you can rotate the UCS around the Z axis by tying UCS Z at the command prompt and then you were prompted to select two points to defin the angle. Now it uses a point at the ucs icon as the first point and only allows me to pick the second point. Is there a way to pick two points to define the UCS angle? I tried setting the UCS Origin to the first point and that did not work.

I am doing takeoffs from a CAD drawing. Without getting too deep into it, I have one origin point, and then I have 200 or so points around the origin. I'm trying to find the fastest way to get the X offset, and the Y offset between each point and the origin.
Right now I'm drawing two lines to connect each point to the origin, then using PROPERTIES on the lines where they meet to get each length - I need to be able to see the numbers on the screen for a second while I copy them into a database. But I'm wondering if it would be easier to write a script, or if there happens to be a tool that could do this with fewer clicks.

I'm struggling with the maths needed to calculate the angle between 3 points. My eventual aim is to use vba to draw a crescent shape polyline, ie 2 arcs curving in the same direction and joiing at their tips. Both arcs will have different centrepoints but the same radius. The only info I know so far is radius (R), centrepoints (CP1, CP2) and the intersection points where their end points meet (IP1, IP2). I've gotten those points by using the 'IntersectWith' function on two circles.
My coding skills are fine it's just the maths I'm struggling with and after searching google for quite some time I'm still confused. I've looked at loads of differnet formulaes and diagrams, but it always seems like they aren't complete. Maybe it's just me.

I need very very often to know the angle between two surfaces to write cnc programms...At the moment i draw allways two lines normal to the line between the two surfaces an use then the angle measuring tool.Works good, faster then bks and dimensioning, but need also time and always need to delete the lines after...
Is it possible to get a lisp which ask für 1 point on the first surface, 1 point on the other surface and two points on the line between the 2 surfaces? So the lisp know 3 points of each surface and can give out the angle between... Should be allways between 0-180°
So it needs only 4 klicks to get a angle! That would be so great! Is there a lisp programmer who can make this possible?

I was wondering if there is a way to select specific 3D points out of a point cloud (.pcg). I am new with Autocad and handling of point clouds .
I can think of various things that you might want to do, as in clean up a bit the data or even delete some areas that you are not interested with. additionally, one might want to do some calculations, so selecting points first and the running a list script to use that points can be handy as well.

I want to move a few snap points on a line but not all of them... Usually I would shift + click each individual snap point and then move but when I have a lot of points it gets pretty time consuming.
If there was a way to drag select multiple snap points in a line.

What might be the cause of a several moment delay when selecting objects and/ or their grip points. It doesn't occur when a command is entered first. The longer a drawing is open the worse it seems to get. Is there any fix or adjustment that can be made?

Is there a way to create a surface by manually selecting the points instead of creating a point group? I survey stockpiles for a local construction company and calculate volumes for them.
There may be 50 piles on one site and it would be a lot easier to create a surface by selecting the points manually instead of creating so many point groups.

Imagine a triangle with its top chopped off and the path open at the top. Is there a quick way of selecting those top 2 points and auto extending them to complete the triangle? If I use Object>Path>Average my 2 points move to join in the middle, they don't extend up along the same trajectory to join.

I can't seem to be able to select multiple points with the marquee. I'm on a mac... Usually you can select a grouped object, switch to point component and grab a whole chunk of points, then move them etc. I can't do this anymore!

I'm using PhotoShop from CS3 and have had a persistent problem with the polygonal lasso tool. Sometimes when I use it, the tool will only give me a few seconds in between mouse clicks to continue selecting. If I don't keep selecting new points (ie, if I leave the cursor hanging on the drawing with the selection still open), the lasso tool will automatically close itself. when I'm trying to do detailed selection work because it doesn't give me time to find the right point to select to before closing the selection over an area that ends up being useless to me.

When I try to select points in my vector shape (this one is selected), and I have other vector shape behind that one, I start dragging with Direct Selection Tool in order to select those two points, I got selected three points, two from first vector shape, and one more form shape that was behind and in the area where I was dragging selection. Also, now both vector shape become selected. Why is this happening if only one vector shape was selected?
I'm using Photoshop CC.

See the attached drawing.
The angle on the layout is slightly distorted. When I open the drawing on another computer it is fine. Even when I brought in a new chair ( on the right of the layout) at what is supposed to be a 90 degree angle it is slightly off?

I'm looking for a lisp routine that allow me to select a text object that is rotated to anything other than zero, and it will change the text object to zero rotation and while still in the command allow me to place the text object on the screen.
I have a routine that is similiar called RT180 but it just rotates whatever text object you select 180 degrees from its current rotation, but I can not figure out how to modify it to rotate to zero rotation angle. What I like about RT180 is that you select your text it rotates it on the spot and then lets you pick a spot to place it.

I have a 2D drawing that I used presspull to give the correct depth to. Now I have to make modifications to it that are angular to the presspull direction and am not sure that presspull is the correct way to do it. I've searched around for vids and have looked at quite a few, but am stumped. Don't know if I need to change the orientation so that the angle I want to cut is the direction for presspull or if I am simply looking at the problem wrong. If I knew how to take a screenshot, I would post some so that it would be clear how inept I am.
