With Add SHP connection, I added The SHP and created a JOIN with an ODBC connection access database table on a Common Column.
Is it possible that I can save it in that format itself so that I can use it later, i.e. the SHP file will have the additional columns after the JOIN.
I'm using AutoCAD 2011. Lately I'm having lots of trouble getting LWPOLYLINES to join, end-to-end. They were all created with the same UCS on elevation zero. Some are arcs, and some are straight segments. I've used PEDIT, MPEDIT, JOIN. Nothing works. They are definitely end-to-end.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are in the middle of upgrading from C3D 2008 to C3D 2013 and are having problems with the data shortcuts. It appears that in 2013 you have to specify a data shortcut project folder and within that folder would be folders for individual projects. In 2008, we just put the data shortcuts within each specific project folder now that we have started working on projects that were setup in 2008, I am not seeing how in the heck we can access or create references to those existing shortcuts. I know we have skipped 5 versions of acad, but I would hope there would be a way to import or access existing project data.

arc was defined with line's end points and radius, so I'm positive that this drawing is continuous.

I had no problem turning other arcs into polyline...
i've managed to fill my mack up with images as i imported all my photos to the MAC HDD rather than an external HDD,,,school boy error : (but i am new to lightroom) as there's 30,000+ is there a way of moving them with out having to reload them to the new HDD? i only found out my mistake when the computer was running on 1% memory.

The data is there because it show up in PS Bridge but it is not in the metadata record in Lightroom and the map module cannot find it. I looked through all of the setting and I found nothing that would preclude location from being loaded.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to turn XML data into a number that I can use in formulas in Animate. I have successfully retrieved the info from the xml file into the text on the stage. My problem is that I need to have the value of the imported data to be a number so that I can do future calculations with it, like add the two numbers together to make a new variable total. I have racked my brain reading about XML, spent several days trying obvious solutions to no avail, and yes I am new to coding although I have thoroughly tried many options.

The command to JOIN two overlapping anchor points as a SMOOTH join is not working (at least, on Mac).
"The join option only results in a corner join regardless of whether you select anchor points to join or the entire path. However, for overlapping anchor points, if you want the option to select a smooth or corner join, then use Ctrl+Shift+Alt+J (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Option+J (Mac OS)."
So I have 25 years 3d CAD experience. Catia, Alias, Ford PDGS.I have spent 20 hours on Inventor 2013. Great program. Very intuitive. Have been banging out models easily.
My issue however is a Client has given me sone .stp's and Iges files to work with.They open fine as a .iam The issue is saving. I have the project folder setup, go to save.
I Get the "do you want to save changes to "XXXXXXXX.iam" and all its dependants.I select "yes to all".I get the "Yes" under the "Save" Column for all listed .ipt's...I hit OK.......Autodesk attempts to save.
...Then I get the dialogue box up with ! icons "The system cannot find the path specified" - The database in C:Users.........xxxx.ipt could not be saved
Is there a way to change the default save location for imported components? I can't stand the default "Save in Workspace" option which creates the dreaded & useless (IMHO) "Imported Components" folder.
I know how to change it during an import by clicking the "Options..." button. But if I or another one of our users forgets to do that, then things get saved to the "Imported Components" folder. This becomes particularly annoying with library files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a table imported into autocad from excel, however despite the table (excel) being formatted, border lines appropriately placed and hidden througout the sheet, all off the border lines of the cells appear when imported into autocad.
is there anything i can do to hide back some border lines for selected cells?
I've tried in a few different files now to import some sheet file (paper space) layouts from other files and it is just giving me a blank screen once I choose the file to import from. The paper space layouts aren't showing up to choose from, if that makes any sense. It has been awhile since I've had to do this, so admittedly could be doing something wrong, but I don't think so as I've searched but found none.
I'm right clicking on the paper space tab and choosing "Page setup manager" then "import", finding the file I want to import from and then the next box pops up with what is supposed to be the layouts to choose from but it's blank.
I am looking into using the Survey Database for the first time and noticed it linked back to the imported file from which the points came. However, my question is when the points are adjusted within the AutoCAD file is there a way for this adjustment to link back into the imported point file. I am trying not to have a situation where the data is different between the imported file and the autocad file.

I've used "Connect to Data" to attach a .shp file export from another software, specifically a Windmill computer model. The geometry and data comes through, but the table contains no coordinates, which is what my vendor wants. The drawing overlay's georeference info very closely (within our tolerances) and the Coordinate System is set.
How to suck that coordinate info off the drawing without spending a week clicking on each of 8600 points and typing LIST?
I have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else. Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection. I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening. Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop. Also as I said it does it to every drawing. how to stop this? I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it. It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD. Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012

Since we got that out of the way let's get to it.
A week ago I was told that a lot of times the PC's freeze when you try to "Save", "Save as" or "Open" a file (we open/save on a network drive). If that happens we have to restart the PC and hope it doesn't happen again, but since this happens quite a lot (over the course of four days about 27 times on 7 PC's) I tried to fix this.
I installed the patch, updated the drivers for the graphic card and reinstalled NET Framework 4. The problem didn't occur as often but it still happened sometimes.
I imported many files that were tiff & jpeg pairs (with the import preference box checked 'Do Not treat as seprate files when file names are the same') into LR3. Since then, i have been unable to write new metadata, such as captions, keywords, etc., to both the JPG and Tif files. LR3, and now also LR5 both only seem to want to write to the tiff files. How do i get the metadata easily saved onto the jeg files as well? (preferably without re-importing as separate files).

On the other hand people using 2010 are having objects missing in the drawing. All layers are turned on and all thawed. The primary objects missing are AEC objects. Is there a switch to show or hide these object?

I have used AutoCAD for over 20 years and when the introduced automatic saves, I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. But apparently some time between release 2010 and 2012 it was redone or it just don't work. I can recall closing a drawing w/o saving by mistake after having worked on it for 2-3 hours and only loosing at the most 10 minutes of my time. I just did the same thing and lost about 2 hours worth of time and my automatic save was set to every 10 minutes as I have set it since automatic save was introduced.

I have also noticed that if I multi select components with ipropWiz5 and attempt to change the part name - it fails.I have tried reinstall in Inventor, ipropWiz5, etc. But to no avail.
I have a problem with autocad WS on Autocad 2012, I've used a workstation of a colleague of mine, and I access to some personal drawings thru the "online" tab, unfortunately, when I press the "online drawings" and a popup windows appear to ask my Autocad WS data, I forgot to uncheck the "Remember my data" and now every time I click on "online drawings" it connect to my Autocad WS account.
Is it possible to remove my data from Autocad ? I tried to click on Logout on Autocad WS but it doesn't work.I have several personal drawings on it and I don't won't that my colleagues open or modify them.
I am creating a schedule with a .dxe file, which extracts data from attributes into a schedule. Is there a way to link this file so it is a "relative path" instead of a full path. IE: The .dxe file is liked to the same folder that contains the current drawing, not linked to my C:/AutoCad drawings/Job Name/folder2... I really want to be able to move the drawing and .dxe to a different folder and not have the link broken.
