While in the Dynamic Block Editor, there times you may zoom in and out.The Parameters & Actions icons & text might get really large.
Before Ribbons, there was a flag at the top of the Display which would reset the sizes.
can not find any way to reset the sizes so I can continue the editing.
The only way I've found to accomplish that is to exit from the Block Editor and re-enter it.
Is it just me or do the actions associated with parameters disappear on occasion from the block editor? Sometimes a regen will make them reappear, other times not. Closing/opening the block editor is one way to make them visible again (worked a few times at least).
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy drawing- block is a little bit complicated, it contains few actions and parameters and everytime i open block editor to add, or to modify some action I can't see my drawing because actions grips and parameters grips obscure my drawing. I tried to refresh layout but it doesn't work.

I haven't reviewed the recommended posts, but just a quick question. I am in the 'Dynamic Block Editor' command. I am trying to add a stretch application to the block (a simple section flag), and I have success up until the point where I save and go back into the drawing. There I do not get a pull-down tab and it will not allow me to stretch where I have defined the block through the 'Parameters' and 'Actions' tabs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues trying to use attribute definitions inside of a dynamic block. .I'm trying to create notes that are attached to differnet visibilty states of a dynamic block. I have multiple visibilty states that are have different attribute definitions placed on top of other definitons. The wanted attributes definitions apear to be visible in block editor but then when I test the block the wrong definitions appear. Is it because the defintions are on top of each other. Also all the definitions are in the same layer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere doesn't seem to be an issue with this block when I open it with the block editor in the drawing where it was created. However, if I insert it into another drawing, it comes in as a block but when I select it, only the insertion point grip is visible. What happened to the parameters and actions? Oh they're still there but I have to open the block editor again for that block and then they display a great distance away from the block itself. This is all in model space with no change to the scale of the block upon insertion.
If I erase the parameters and actions and recreate them, the block behaves correctly in that second drawing but there is still the problem with the original block in my library.The attachment is supposed to be for a portion of metal deck that can be arrayed to whatever length is requied.
I will double click into a dynamic block to edit it in Block Editor. None of the blocks dynamic attributes will show up. Then I try to exit the block using either "bclose" or by clicking "Close Block Editor" and get this message: "bclose command only allowed in block editor". Um... hello Autocad, I'm in the block editor.
My only option at this point is to close the file... CAD politely asks me if I want to save my changes, and unfortunately I made the mistake of saying yes the first time this happened. If I choose to save the changes, when I re-open the CAD file it will only be the block that I was editing! It purges everything else in the file (and it is apparent that it only saved the block b/c my file size is much smaller than the original). The backup file is also only the blocks information, b/c CAD believes it is saving correctly. My other choice is to not save, and lose all of my changes since the last save or since the last autosave.

I have been working with attributes and visibility states for months, i've created a dozen blocks that have worked exactly as designed... Now every block i make with the same method is not working properly
attached is a really simple block. to the left are the 4 individual attributes in the block. on the right is the dynamic block with 4 visibility settings to show 1 attribute, 2 attributes, etc... everything is perfect in the block editor, in model space; vis state 1 shows 3 att's, vis state 2 shows 3 att's, and vis states 3&4 work as designed.
I'm under the gun to create standard blocks to collaborate with 2 other another firms.
The new block editor is not working for me;
In the old cad we had the block editor where you can add and remove entities from the block; how will I do that now?
AutoCAD will be running fine but if i use the Block editior everything suddenly slows down.
It doesn't matter what block I edit or if I even edit a block but if I open and then close the Block editor it slows considerably.
I have treid Regen, Purge, Audit, Turning off snap's, Polar Tracking etc but nothing seems to work with the exception of closing and resetting AutoCAD
AutoCAD 2010. I was editing a block in the block edit screen and it wouldnt save the block. My screen froze and I had to reboot the computer. Now when I open the drawing it is still in the block edit screen and I cant get out of it.

Say I want to change the value E16 to E16a in block editor and after synchronizing the attribute does not change. What worse is that if I erase one attribute E16, then synchronize, the other attribute value (E18, E8) change to a different number (E16, E18*) . Attached is an example dwg.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I use visibility of dynamic block, I found it's a great feature. But when I have more objects involved in it there will be too many states.
If we have 'visibility action' beside 'visibility set' maybe it will make thing better, when use it with lookup table. Each visibility action can has it's own set of objects. Put actions in lookup table to hide and show the set combined with them.
We have a dynamic section marker block. You can flip it, rotate it and stretch it. Some of our drawings have a lot of them. For some instances of the block that are rotated, opening the drawing or inserting another copy of the block causes the fill in the arrow to move back to its original orientation (see images). The darn things even plot incorrectly.
Flipping the broken ones back and forth fixes them, but it is silly that a drafter would have to do that with each one.
I'm having is that this is happening with a dynamic block. I don't know how it got this way...some 'genius' in my office went into this file and screwed something up, and saved it...so now I'm left with the task of fixing it.
When I go into the block, it opens as a regular drawing, with a dynamic block inside of it...as opposed to opening in the block editor. I just need to know how to get this back to the way it should be, without having to redraw the entire thing from scratch. I made a few scrap-copies of the drawing to fool around with and I can't find a solution. I tried deleting the block and purging it, I tried exploding it, and I tried saving it directly from the block editor...nothing worked.
I am trying to make a dynamic block below. I need the "end" of the line to be "moveable". I've tried the point parameter and the stretch action with no luck.

In the first image, you'll see the items that I want to have rotatable in blue. The items in red should NOT rotate. That part seems to work fine. But the items that do rotate don't behave as expected.
I created the rotate parameter selecting the center of the red circle as the base point. Shouldn't that cause ALL the items to rotate about that center point?
As you'll see from the second image, the blue line rotates about some other point.
EDIT: Well I guess it only does it if I have the blue horizontal line defined with a length constraint. I also need to have that line dynamic--I need to make it longer/shorter.
I've attached a dwg file with the block in it--it's at the top of the block list (___SectMark2).
I have created a dynamic block and have applied some lookup tables to it but its not working just the way I want it. I think its to do with the custom entry on the lookup tables. If I delete the custom entry when i select the block in model space the drop down select box to allow me choose a selection is no longer available. How can I remove the custom entry and still have the block working normally. I've attached the block.

I have set up the parameters and the actions how I was taught and even revisited one of AU's downloadable lessons to try to get it correct. my settings are the same as in the lesson. I have the rotate parameter / action set to only the geometry and did not select the attributed text. I also have the attribute locked. Nothing I do gets the text to rotate with the block and stay horizontal and right reading. It will either rotate the text along with the block or just leave the text stationary. I have tried adding a point parameter to the text but that doesn't seem to work either. I am using Base ACAD 2010 I have also attached the block for troubleshooting.

I am trying to create a dynamic block that represents a cable with an attribute attached. The block is essentially a line that runs along the Y axis. I have created a distance parameter with a stretch action attached. The line is to remain anchored at the top and the bottom end is permitted to stretch.
Problem: I have an attribute inserted to the left side of the line (offset at -2mm TC insertion) at a rotation angle of 270. When I select the stretch grip (in the drawing environment) I would like the attribute to remain centered with the line maintain the offset and maintaining the rotation angle. I have exhausted all of my options (limited experience).
I was wondering if there is a way to link one parameter to another. What i'm doing is creating a theater flat block that has adjustable length and width. There are support members that are needed when it gets big enough. Right now i have them set to a Visability parameter and have to select to turn them on and off in model space. Is there a way to link the Visability so that it changes based on the Linear Distance parameter's lenth?

We have specialized electrical schematic drawings on what is termed roll-drawings. These roll-drawings are simply 12" tall and variable width type drawings. We've had some as short as 24 inches and as long as 900 inches. As a result we use these section dimensions to distinguish circuit boundaries. It's not a real dimension, just a way to distinguish what circuit is located where. I've tried to recreate it using a block for improved automation as currently we just use a lisp routine that draws an arrow and lines. It looks like the screen capture of my block below. Is it possible to have the inside endpoints of the lines automatically stretch outwardly toward the arrows as the attribute Value changs?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am attaching my dynamic block that I am having difficulty finalizing. My goal is to be able to stretch or resize the hvac block, based on the size that is provided to me (ala 24x24, 36x36, 48x72, etc) (Stretch Action), I have that figured out, and I have the symbol in the center that stays centered as the block size changes, (Move Action).
Here is my problem, I want the symbol in the center to stay centered and scale based on a ratio as the overall size gets larger. So for example: if my size is a 24"x24" I want the symbol in the center to be approx 12" dia, but if the size gets up to say 60"x60" I want it to scale accordingly (so it could be like 48" dia), specifically maintaining the size based on the x axis, so if the it gets to a 60x72", I'd like it to still be centered but size according to the 60 width, and not stretch and look awkward. I want the center symbol to scale and stay centered in the rectangle as I scale the size.
