AutoCAD 2010 :: Create A Dynamic Block Parameters
Sep 20, 2013I am trying to make a dynamic block below. I need the "end" of the line to be "moveable". I've tried the point parameter and the stretch action with no luck.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: 2010 - Actions Associated With Parameters Disappear From Block Editor
Jan 29, 2010Is it just me or do the actions associated with parameters disappear on occasion from the block editor? Sometimes a regen will make them reappear, other times not. Closing/opening the block editor is one way to make them visible again (worked a few times at least).

Dec 4, 2013I am looking for a way to use the ATTIN/ATTOUT workflow to bring in data from an excel spreadsheet to drive the size of each of my block's instances. The block will be simple, a rectangle, with width and length parameters. For each entity in my excel/csv file these parameter values are spelled out. I know how to display these parameters in my attributes, but I don't know how, if I were to feed in these values, to drive the geometry. If there's a better way to take a list of width and length values to generate a series of blocks each with a rectangle containing its respective size.

Jan 19, 2012I'm having trouble getting a set of parameters to work together in this block i have created.
File attached for reference
Block 1 (EXTENT_OF_WORKS) and Block 2 (EXTENT_STRETCHED) are attached to file.
As is on both blocks i need a central insertion point/base point.
Block 1 has two rotate commands. The inner rotate command is to align the block so that it is perpendicular on a straight line of a route. The outer is to align perpendicularly in the case where the centre point of the block falls on an arc segment of a route.
Block 1 has also got a flip command.. to flip.
As is block 1 works well. but i also need a stretch command that can extend both ends of the block, away from the centre, at the same time. See block 2.
I have tried to complete this block in multiple ways to no avail.

Apr 23, 2013I am trying to create a dynamic block that allows me to insert a single rack into a drawing and make a single row of racking with all racks staying 9'-0" center of post to center of post. Also would like to be able to turn that one single row into a double row that spacing between rows can be modified. I have attached a cad file showing a single rack and two example, one of a row of double racks and one of a single row of racks. This rack is 48" deep i will also have to create this for a 60' deep rack so how i can create future rack sizes and rows.

Jun 21, 2013I have created a pretty nice dynamic door block with flip parameters - size changes - and visibility parameters for jamb/no jamb. However I would like to add an option for changing the door from 90 degrees, 45 degrees and closed. I can't use the visibility parameter since I am using that for jamb/no jamb option. I was hoping to add a rotate parameter, but am having issue with the arc line. Is there a way to have the arc move with the swing in the door? If so, I can add that to the more refined door block. I have attached Drawing 2 (Door with just the rotate parameter) and Drawing3 (More refined door dynamic block without the swing option).

Any good Tutorials, Articles, or White Papers, on working with dynamic blocks with autolisp/ vlisp? The main function is to access a parameter and change it by entering a numeric value, updating the block. say from a linear/polar stretch, or a linear/ polar move.

Feb 6, 2013I'm trying to create a window block with a grille. I've created the block and the horizontal grilles. What I'm having a hard time with is creating the vertical grilles. I would like to set up an array that would take the glass width, divide by 12, round up the value to get the number of vertical sections. Here's the code that I've figured out:
(W/(ceil(GW/12)))
W=Width
GW=Glass width
How do I set up an array with this formula?

Feb 28, 2012I need to create a dynamic block for a "Glass Panel" in a balustrade. I need to be able to insert it, in one corner and stretch it in another corner, to suit the staircase angle.
I've created the block, but it isn't working correctly. I've attached a drawing, with the left hand drawing a sketch of how it needs to be. The right hand drawing is my dynamic block attempt. As can be seen, when the block is stretched between the 2 points, it doesn't follow the angle of the staircase correctly (Very slight run off)

Jul 27, 2011I am looking to create a dynamic block that changes in scale, ex. If I have two (2) viewports in paper space, one 1/4"=1'-0" the other 1/8"=1'-0" I want my blocks to appear to be the same size in paper space.
Also, I would like my blocks to change attributes/features ex. If I have a "light switch block" I would like to have the option of switching the block from a 3-way switch, 4-way switch etc.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Custom User Parameters In Block Are Lost?
Sep 11, 2012I have created a dynamic scale bar block that a user can edit two custom properties of (Horizontal Scale and Vertical Exaggeration) and the values on the scale bar will self-adjust after a regen. The block works fine if inserted into a drawing as per normal the normal insert method.
However, the issue I am running into is this:
If the block is inserted into a template drawing that contains our standard company titleblock (again this part works fine), and that layout is then imported into a new drawing using the "From Template..." right-click option on the Model/Layout tabs, the block loses the custom user parameters. Editing the block definition shows that the parameters are there, they just no longer have names or default values and do not appear in the properties window when the block is selected.
Trying to edit the user parameter names in the block definition of this imported copy of the block, just results in receiving an error that I'm attempting to use characters that are not alphanumeric.
I've tried this same procedure with 2013 and the issues still occur. I've tried user parameter names that don't have an underscore in them (just in case that was causing the issue), but again no luck.
I've attached a simpler block that recreates the same problem: Tester.dwg - this is the block that can be inserted into a drawing. It contains two user parameters "Tester" and "Tester_2". Inserting this block into a drawing shows the block works correctly (user parameters are editable from the properties window).Testing.dwg - this is a drawing that contains the above block inserted onto Layout 1. If Layout 1 is imported into a new drawing (using the "From Template..." right click option of the model/layout tabs), then the block no longer functions as it should. The two user parameters are no longer visible in the properties window.

AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Create Filters Both Positive AND Negative In Parameters
Sep 9, 2013I have in the past needed to create filters that had both a positive AND a negative in the parameters.
One of my most common examples: Layers in a specific XRef with names that do not contain specific string.
I tried XRefName|*[~anno]* and it gave me ALL the layers from the XRef (including the ones with anno in the name).
I also tried XRefName|*~anno* and it didn't list ANY layers.
It it possible to do this? I've read throught the docs on using wildcards in the filter properties but don't see anything.

Feb 12, 2013I want to create a dynamic block that as I select my pick point to move it over it stretches the box, however at the same time it arays 2 other lines at the same time. The trick is I need the 2 lines that array to renceter them self within the overall box thats being strtched. To put this in exact teerms I'm looking to create a dynamic block of a reinforced concrete slab that you can stretch to the length you want and at teh same time the reinforcing sysmbeol (----- X-----) will array itself and recenter. Is this possible to do?

Sep 2, 2011I am trying to create a dynamic block library but can't quite seem to get it right.
The only dynamic feature I need to use right now is visibility states so i'm sure it's something simple that i'm just not seeing, but I thought I would ask everyone's opinion on the best way to do it.
What I am trying to do is set up a full common library on our network that our whole team uses. At the moment we all have our own block library which can sometimes cause problems. The file location / folder set up etc is sorted out but it's the actual blocks which are making life hard for me as until now we haven't really used dynamic blocks.
The only way i've been able to get the blocks where I want them so far ends up in a 'double block' meaning the block itself becomes a block again once I write it to the desired folder. This works but is not ideal as I can't get the vis state drop down menu by clicking on the block and have to edit the parent block to change the vis state.
Basically I have no problem creating the exact dynamic block I need, and no problem with a location to store them, it's more storing them that's giving me a headache.

Dec 13, 2013When I use visibility of dynamic block, I found it's a great feature. But when I have more objects involved in it there will be too many states.
If we have 'visibility action' beside 'visibility set' maybe it will make thing better, when use it with lookup table. Each visibility action can has it's own set of objects. Put actions in lookup table to hide and show the set combined with them.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Dynamic Block Rotation Changes
Dec 28, 2012We have a dynamic section marker block. You can flip it, rotate it and stretch it. Some of our drawings have a lot of them. For some instances of the block that are rotated, opening the drawing or inserting another copy of the block causes the fill in the arrow to move back to its original orientation (see images). The darn things even plot incorrectly.
Flipping the broken ones back and forth fixes them, but it is silly that a drafter would have to do that with each one.

Jan 24, 2012I'm having is that this is happening with a dynamic block. I don't know how it got this way...some 'genius' in my office went into this file and screwed something up, and saved it...so now I'm left with the task of fixing it.
When I go into the block, it opens as a regular drawing, with a dynamic block inside of it...as opposed to opening in the block editor. I just need to know how to get this back to the way it should be, without having to redraw the entire thing from scratch. I made a few scrap-copies of the drawing to fool around with and I can't find a solution. I tried deleting the block and purging it, I tried exploding it, and I tried saving it directly from the block editor...nothing worked.

Nov 7, 2013I have to create a dynamic block for our overhead cupboards. I've tried to do it myself but the solution is not forth coming and the brain is starting to hurt. I've attached a drawing to better illustrate what i want to do. It has the old style doors but i will create a new DB for the new style.
The OHC will be inserted with the top left point. I then want to stretch the top right point to the appropriate length and have the 3 doors stretch equally. The gap between the doors will be 22mm and must not change. The end gaps will vary because of door size but will stay within 31.2 mm to 32.7 mm (As close to 32mm as possible). Also the rh edge of the water level gauges need to be 58mm from the rh door edge.

Sep 25, 2012I would like to add a new (user) parameter to a dynamic block within my code. I have noticed that this is possible manually. But couldn't find how to do this in .Net. When this parameter has been created it would be necessary to fill in a value. So the parameter can either be a general parameter, that can be adjusted later or a (user/dynamic) parameter specific for the block.
