I'm experience challenge in editing The line in my dwg. The line weight on my drawing once printed, is not The same as I have set up on my pen setting style. I have tried The pedit function by increasing The line width to 0.6mm but nothing change on my preview window. It looks like there is an issue with reference editing.
View 7 RepliesWe are creating a new company title block for the use in Inventor 2010 and AutoCAd 2010. It has initially been generated in Inventor and exported to AutoCAD. My problem is that all attributes that came over are now setup as multiline attributes and I can't seem to change them to single line. Therefore you have to open the multiline editor separately for every single item to make changes in lieu of just 'tabbing' through the values in the Enhanced Attribute Editor. This adds time and frustration and seems to be intolerable for some of my colleagues.
Is there a way to change the attributes to a single line in AutoCAD I'm just not aware of? I tried to find different settings for the export from Inventor but the options seem to be very limited.
I could probably go over this and create separate AutoCad only titleblock and border but that would kind of defeat the purpose.
I created some new custom line types using express tool featute in autocad and I saved it with a .lin extension. It is only available in that drawing itself. How I canget those line type in all my new drawings.
I tired to edit the default linetype file even it doesnot appear in the linetype manger windo.

I use a lot of Multiline text, copy and paste that text to other areas of the floor plans that I draw, then edit the text. My problem is when I select the text for editing my cursors always appears in a different location other than Align left.

I am editing a feature line which is a driveway. I set the feature line to have a constant slope from one end to the other. I had to move the line and when I did the contours went away. I tried to just add grading to the feature line and it when through the steps I always take and acts like its there but I dont see it. The contours are set to 1' and 5' contours w/ design. The feature line that is added when creating a grading from the original feature line (that shows the base of the slope where the contours fit between or in other words it is the feature line that follows the existing/natural ground) is also gone.
Also on another feature line all I did was go into elevation editor and change an elevation and the contours dissapeared.
When I edit my text it disappears. I have attached an image of the problem. This only affects my machine in my company - I have checked colour settings with others and theirs are the same as mine only theirs works
The text is set to white/black colour 7 and the sheet layout is set to white. I have tried different text colours and I still can't see them.
As you can see from the top image I have a background mask that is set to the drawing sheet colour which is white When I double click in the text to edit it the text disappears (bottom image) as if the mask is appearing in front of the text which it shouldn't do.
The only way to be able to view the text is to switch the background mask off - but I want to avoid this as I have to keep switching it on again.
I get the same problem if inserting a new table and having to edit the cells. However here there is no way to switch the background mask off as there is no button that I can see to switch it on and off.
I need to do it quickly with many text regions. How to make line boundary around multi-line text region corresponding to text mask?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI noticed that some multileader move when editing and some do not. This is very frustrating. Usually this seems to happened when annotative scale is on. I tried to avoid this happening by turning off annotative scale and this does not work. Instead I go to another file to find the other multileader text that doesn't move when I edit. I tried to find what causing this shift in the properties menu but can't see the difference between the two.
How to stop the multileader shifting!? Is this a bug?
I received a dwg plan in xref and the client whats me to make some changest to the plan what would be the best method of doing this? I tried xref editing and was able to make the changest but now it won't plot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy colleague made some drawings using AutoCAD 2011. Somehow the sheet status in Sheet Set Manager says all the drawings are locked for editing - it was unintentional. The drawings can be fully viewed only from the computer, which created the drawings. In other computers, we can only see the text. The model view and the bottom of the drawing which contains drawing number and other info do not show.
We need to deliver our drawings to the customer so they can see the coordinates in the maps/drawings.
How could we change the status or unlock it so the customer can view the entire drawings? If possible, we still want the drawings unable to be edited.
In our computer, we have AutoDesk Vault - did it somehow kicked in automatically?
trying to set up a system for a less advanced user.
basically they donot like the advanced attribute menu when you edit a block with attributes in them.
looking at the varriables the end user likes the Attdia set to 1 when you insert a block it then displays nice clean menu which just has the attributes you can edit.
can this be set so when you later edit a block this menu appear rather than the advance attribute editor?
Someone in the office is running AutoCAD 2011 (Windows 7) and the program keeps closing itself just saying fatal error. It seems to happen when a command is entered, particularly while editing text which seems to close it every time. It's not limited to editing text though. It happens on multiple files as well. I've read there were some issues with 2010 closing while editing text but I can't seem to find anything about 2011 having problems with it. She restarted her computer and it seems to be working now, but this has happened in the past and the problem will come back.

I've started having problems when trying to edit text in table cells. Sometimes I double click and all is ok. Sometimes it wont let me select anything in the cell. Sometimes I have to select the cell, then right click to edit text. I get this message:

Is this likely to be a hardwear issue, and the pc is struggling to run AC correctly with all the other crap my company has running in the background? Or is there a systems setting that may have been changed, for whatever reason?
I have just noted that I cannot single click on entities to open properties or double click on text to launch text editor. The facility has just stopped of its own accord.
There have been no crashes or changes to my systems. No-one else uses this station or this software in my office so how can these things just go wrong by themselves?
I checked options and mouse config and nothing seems to be out of place there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am designing a solar field and have my solar panels laid out in a grid. I have each panel represented as a block with 4 attributes: Column, Row, Module Type, and Combiner Box. There are ~5,000 panels so it will take forever to modify the attributes of each block individually. Is there a way I can select multiple blocks (an entire column for instance) and set the "Column" attribute for ALL of those blocks to the appropriate value?
My end goal is to be able to export the information in those blocks to excel. So if there is any way to tie 4 pieces of information to an object and export it into excel not using block attributes, that would work for me as well.
I attempted to use Lee Mac's Batch Attribute Editor BAtteV1-4.lsp and it was very close to what I needed. But it will modify the specified attribute of all blocks within a drawing, whereas I only want to modify the attributes of all blocks within a selection.
As of yesterday Double click editing has stopped working. CUI says everything is OK.

Sometimes I have MLeader text without Mleaders (ie, I remove the leader arm using MLEADEREDIT). Then when I go to edit this 'floating note', the base point moves:
In this screenshot, I've just finished editing the text. Note that I added in the diagonal line at the current insertion point of the Mleader text (top right):
Then, after I click outside the Mleader box, the text moves:
THis happens only with right-aligned MLeaders, and keeps happening, ie if I edit this text again and close it again, it will move again.
I'm trying to figure out a way to reduce the size of a cylinder that is created in another program (LFM or Cyclone) and imported into Autocad. I've tried Solidedit and I can increase the cylinder diameter but I can't reduce the cylinder diameter.

The window for editing won't go all the way down. I have tried expanding the window and when I am
expanding it, I can see the bottom line of text but when I let go of the corner it reverts back to showing everything but the bottom line.
I'm having a problem in PS 7 ... every time i start creating/editing text, and i hit the 'enter' button, the text editing mode automatically stops instead of producing a line break and starting a new line.
View 6 Replies View Relatedin earlier versions of draw you could move one end of line with the pick tool by moving the cursor over the end node grabbing it and moving it where ever you wanted. With x5 it seems that you must go to the node editing tool to select the node. Is there a setting I'm missing that will allow the pick tool to select node?

When I go into block editor, edit the block then close it out. My cursor is really jerky in model space. Especially bad when I go into a command and try to select something. The only way to get rid of the jerkiness is to close auto cad and restart it. Is there anyway to cure this?
I have 2010 and am experiencing this exact same problem. It is intermittent and will sometimes 'go away' after a few minutes. Block editing is definitely related as a cause. I use SDI = 1 predominantly and it seems to be session independent. In other words one drawing session is experiencing the problem but jumping to another concurrent session exhibits no issues.
Task manager shows off the chart 99% plus on process ACAD when it is occurring.
Palette transparency is off globally. I have installed the latest NVidia driver for my Quadro NVS 285 video card. I am running a 3GHz P4 with 4 Gigabytes of ram - Dell Precision 380 workstation. Block Editor background color is default.
Restarting AutoCAD does make it go away - for the moment - but it is soon back. Even closing all tool palettes has no effect.
This does seem to be drawing specific - 2010 seems to be sensitive to something in older drawing blocks - prototype drawings from hotel vendors for instance - most likely inherited from a third party DXF process exhibit the issue heavily - and blocks from these drawings to a lesser degree. I have to constantly purge, audit, and wblock/replace my drawings to keep them clean. My default file type is 2010 which 'seems' to work, but it still happens. Audits show constant drawing errors cropping up, and repeating an audit, shows the same errors until a wblock replace is performed.
In X5, I was able to edit the position of the line for underline text : Thickness and position, up or down in %
The last command for Characters Effect | Underline was « Modified... »
Cannot find it in X6 ! It's not available in the same menu !
Whenever I try to adjust my LTS for a line it changes the LTS of every line in my drawing instead of the individual line. How do I get it so it changes one line at a time?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI assume it's just my autocad display but I can never tell if lines and are drawn correctly or not. I'll draw construction lines and circles and grip edit my linework to snap to the end points and arc midpoints perpindicular to the circle but there are still overlapping displays. In the attached image I've snapped to arc points to the circle and the edges of the hatch to the extension/intersection of them and this is how it still displays.
Yes, I am constantly regenning and my arc smoothness is set to 10000.
The line weights in the xref are as they should be - I can change the line weight (plot by layer/color) and it plots correctly; when I attached this file to another drawing, the line weights do not plot. I can change the layer color to modify the weight (.ctb file) and the correct line weight appears on the monitor, but when I plot - the line weight looks like a standard default width.
I checked the lwdefault in the xref and three other drawings, and in every drawing it is set to '25'; the lines are lines (not plines), and have a zero elevation. The units are the same as the other drawings;
I believe it's a setting in the drawing (not the xref) - what setting it might be.
I use to be able to stretch a line by using the end grip and typing 50 , this would extend the line by 50 units
The problem i now have is that if i do the same thing thing , the line instead of strecting 50 units the line becomes 50 units long in total
is there a system variable that controls this ?
