Any way to control the visibility of any XRef in a drawing using Excel or Text file. For instance, I have 50 Xref placed in there positions and I want AutoCAD to select what should be visible by reading an external file--Excel or Text file.

I've created a tie-on-cable marker tag using Loft, Replace Face and Split techniques. After splitting, I turn off the visibility of one of the two resulting solid bodies. File A208P03_Label.jpg shows the results with solid body Solid2 visibility either on or off.
The cable marker tag is then used in an assembly file shown in MI-CA-0261.iam.jpg and a drawing file shown in MI-CA-0261.idw.jpg. The problem I have is that Solid2 is showing up in the idw drawing file when I'd rather it's visibility be off as in the .iam assembly file.
Is there a way to write a set of rules so that I can switch Work Features On and Off via a Text Parameter.I have an assembly made up of a number of parts used hundreds of times within in various sub-assemblies. If I make a particular sub-assembly 'Invisible' then subsequently 'Visible,' all work features that had previously been set to be 'Invisible' are switched to 'Visible' also.
Likewise if I simple want to set a particular Work Features' Visibility in one particular sub-assembly, I would like to be able to do this via a Text Parameter rather than having to laboriously scroll down the Assembly switching the visibility of features on and off.
At the moment if I turn the visibility of say a Work Plane On in a sub-assembly then all sub-assemblies deploying the same part switch the visibility of that Work Plane on too. Hence I cannot see my work for Work Planes.Obviously the Global Switch under View is of no avail,
So I would like to be able to create a Text Parameter for each sub assembly and in turn each Work Feature with a Yes/No Visibility switch controlled via a set of Rules in iLogic.
Is it possible to contol the visibility state of an external referenced drawing? I have an architectural plan drawing that uses a titlesheet drawing as an external reference. In my civil plan i want to use a different title sheet. Instead of having a different titlesheet drawing for the civil drawing i was wondering if i could turn my titlesheet drawing into a dynamic block. In my architectural drawing i would see visibility state #1 & in my civil drawing i would see visibility state #2.
View 1 Replies View Relatedxref fade control not working?In model space I have xref'd a dwg (probably 2010 format) and it positions correct and displays in the normal default faded mode. No matter where I have the slider in display options, the xref fade does not change. Even changing the system variable through the command line is ineffective.

here is the question,basicly, i have a folder named "A", and this folder include 5 DWGs, named 1,2,3,4,5. "1" is the main DWG, so, 2,3,4,5 is attached or overlayed to main file. First step im copying this folder from server, and im pasting to my desktop.Im doing some modifications on xref files, and im uploading "A" folder to my friend's partage from local company server. its allright till here..
my collegue is copying this same folder "A" and opening main file, and main file reading another "3" file from his desktop... this is the problem. file names are same, and it has to be this way. i want to make the main file read from its own folder. we are using 2008, 2012.
I'm facing a problem dealing with visibility formulas... My situation that im dealing with is, I have 2 yes/no visibility parameters, one that is called Right side clearance and another one named Left side clearance. I want to create another yes/no visibility parameter that's called Clearance. I want to link the Right and Left clearance parameter to the Clearance parameter where if it is off, then there will be nothing that shows.. But if I want it on then I would have to select either right or left without them both showing up?

If we have 'visibility action' beside 'visibility set' maybe it will make thing better, when use it with lookup table. Each visibility action can has it's own set of objects. Put actions in lookup table to hide and show the set combined with them.
I have this block (see attachment) with three attributes and a visibility parameter that I want to hide one, two or all attributes. It works well while I'm in the block editor but it will not work properly when used in the drawing. The option of "Point only" does not hide all attributes of some reason.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing which has 3 viewports in it, two of the viewports are ok but with the third one when i try to have a leader from it to a text box outside the viewport in paperspace, the section of the leader within the viewport is blanked out,. I have tried bringing the leader to the front and sending the viewport to the back along with regenning the drawing to no avail. the leader works ok with the other two viewports no issue there but with the third one it just will not work. The viewport is used for viewing a location using a raster map image and it does show the leader / line object when zoomed out and disappears again when the line goes over the raster image.

If I did what I am wanting to in one visibility it would be a very long list of different combination options. The list would have 16 different options. View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Inventor dwgs when I turn the visibility of the harness assembly off (the icon turns gray) the harness still remains visible in the View on the dwg. My co-worker is having the same problem. This is happening on several different inventor dwgs where the harness is not visible (the visibility is turned off) but once an edit is made to the assembly (such as making a part visible) the harness becomes visible even the the visibility is turned off in that View. I don't know if this is related to the recent installation of service pack 4 for inventor 2010 as this problem recently began occurring.

I am creating some table of contents. The first column contains symbols that are inserted blocks. Now, when I've created dynamic blocks I've made them to have more visibility states. If I insert the block that has such states, only the saved state is visible. Is there any way that I can use more visibility states when inserting some block into table.
At the moment the only solution is to insert another simplified block that I've created just for this insertion. That way my blocks library is getting bigger and bigger only because of this. I don't use simplified blocks in my drawings, except for the thingy mentioned above.
we have a drawing where we were un-able to use snaps (end, per, quad, etc.) on any blocks.
It seems like this particular drawing has issues not seen elsewhere.(besides the fact it was badly drawn) After some time playing with all the settings. We turned on the zero layer and then all the nodes were available as usual.
i've been using AutoCad for 20 years and never seen this. Is this some kind of new feature?Can you control the snaps with a layer? WHY?

The layer control dropdown in the layer toolbar is just showing the state of the selected object or layer 0 if nothing is selected. Same for the ribbon combo. But it's working in the Quick properties dialog.

Is there a way to turn this off? If i am just looking at layers, I don't want autocad to change my current layer.

Can I somehow set a layer to off or frozen in file 1 and it will make sure to be switched off in my files 2,3,4 aswell? I have played around with New VP Freeze but if I add a layer at a later time and files 2,3,4 already have several viewports that doesn't do me very good.
I am not sure if i ever noticed this before, but if I get a dwg file from an architect who has XREF another dwg background and then I enter the command _AECEXPORTTOAUTOCAD2010 on the main dwg will that take all the XREF files and convert them to blocks as part of the exported file? This seems to have been done and wasn't sure why?

i locate the location of that xref file then load the file, after that i click reload all references but still the xref file appear unloaded.
I have an xref that I am trying to xclip. Normal xclip works fine, but when I try to invert the clip (which I was I need), a light grey background shows up (in preview mode and on prints) around most of the boundary, and takes up most of the screen.
It also clips objects from other xrefs along the plane of the boundary, even though they're not actually within the boundary (they are visible in the drawing, but clipped in preview mode). I have purged and audited both drawing and xref.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to reference a drawing in AutoCAD 2012 and whenever I try to atrtach the drawing by XREF it does not come in viewable. none of the layers are seen. this is the second or third drawing that this has happened to me. I have checked to see if it is on a frozen or off layer. or some non-plot layer. I have opened a fresh drawing to reference it in. none of these have produced a result. The only thing different about the layers is that the layer rhombus, which is usually Blue, is now grey

View 4 Replies View Related I'm using Architecture 2011, but the problem is pretty generic.
I am working with a very complex vendor drawing and using it as an xref to my working drawing. I need to be able to freeze parts of the xref and change colors (for plotting purposes) of other parts. Under ideal circumstance this would require simple layer manipulation.
My problem is that a large percentage of the vendor drawing is made up of blocks. There are nearly 1000 different blocks. Most of these blocks were created using layers other than 0 - quite often more than one layer is used. Sometimes the block is inserted on a layer that was used in it's creation, sometimes not. The only way I can omit one of these blocks from my drawing is to figure out what layer was used in it's creation and freeze that layer. You can see how this could be a pretty tedious process.
My limited CAD knowledge only gives me: edit all 1000 blocks, changing them to layer 0
