I use the 3DCLIP command a lot in my work.
What is really disappointing is that whenever a solid (or xref or block) is sectioned this way, it shows a back faces of that object. It makes the view messy and confusing, and then I have to use whiteout all over my paper space to make the drawing readable.

I used to download photos into the organizer and they would show up in a window that displayed only the current photos being downloaded. I must have done something to change that because now photos go directly to the main organizer window. I have a lot of photos and its getting harder to find them in the mix. how to get that screen back that only displays the newest photos being downloaded at that time?

I was wondering if there was a way to get the object handle ID to display when rolling over an object or failing that, to get the handle ID to show up in the object quick properties?
At the moment I have to select each object and type LIST to get this information and it's very time consuming if I want to check the handle IDs for multiple objects.
I need to make a block with one attribute named SIZE which will be filled in when the block is inserted into the drawing. On this block I would like to display the value for SIZE in 3 additional places besides the attribute SIZE.
So to make a long story short I would like to take 1 attribute and display it 4 times. If I change the attribute I would like for all 4 displays of it to update with the change.
I've tried making the 2nd, 3rd and 4th occurrences attribute with fields pointing to the value of the 1st attribute object but it is not working. How do I go about accomplishing this.
I am trying to use our standard room name block in two new files from a client but it is not showing up the way it is supposed to. It looks like a totally different font. I have checked the text options box and it says it's "romans", just like it is supposed to, but it does not look right. It also does it with regular mtext that I copy in from another file. Once I change it back it looks right, but when I pull it in, it defaults to Romans and @arialunicode MS. I'm assuminng that's what the block is doing as well, but how do I fix that?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a simple effect that consists of three layers. The bottom layer is a background, the middle layer a gap effect with text and the top layer is a CFX layer. In that CFX layer is the back clip which is made up of the middle and bottom layers and a text node. The back clip is piped into an action background and the text node is an action layer. I'm doing a simple light bloom on the text inside of action.
If I understand CFX back clips correctly, shouldn't it update if a make a change to the middle or bottom layers? In this case it's not. I have to save my action and text nodes, go back out to the timeline, delete the CFX and create a new one. Then go back into CFX and re-apply the action and text nodes that I saved.
Is there a way to refresh the back clip of CFX to reflect the changes made underneath it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a new document in AutoCAD, I get a weird gap of space right above my command bar that either displays a duplicate of the command bar or just blank white space. It is as if the comupter does not recognize it as part of the screen. My mouse will jump over the bar and I cannot type or select anything inside it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI searched through all the key short cuts, looked through the user guide and I'm at a loss where you can nudge a clip back and forth by single frames. I saw you can hold 'D" and SLIP the clips one frame at a time, but not move them outright.
So, since nudging is one of the absolute most basic requirements of any editor, I know it's in there. But alas, they hid it too well. here it might be?
Maybe hiding next to a trim mode I don't see where I can see how my slips and slides affect the area around the clip?
I am looking for a method to convert 3d surfaces or regions into 3d faces so that they can be imported in RISA. I currently have a model with 3d faces (see attached), but do not know a method for adding the openings shown in red.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi got Inventor recently, and i've been working on a model of a longboard just to teach myself how to use the tools in Inventor. right now i'm trying to color areas for the griptape pattern so i drew the 2D pattern and projected it onto the 3D model of the longboard. but when i tried to split the faces of the model along the projected pattern only a few of the projected lines split the faces. for other faces i kept getting these errors:
Create parting line failed Crane.ipt: Errors occurred during update Split11: Could not build this Split The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs.
When using the 3DClip command, the mini screen no longer appears for me to complete this task. Also, about 50% of the time, my drawing will lock up or fatal error when trying to utilize the 3DClip command.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time that I open a new drawing which has clipped XRefs, the X clip frame is set to the number 2, and I set it back to number "0", but then when I finish that drawing and open another drawing, then the new drawing reverts back to X clip frame 2.
How or where I can change the setting to the default is always "0"?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs often done in mechanical drawings, a circle is drawn around a detail in the main drawing, and the detail is displayed somewhere else on the drawing on a larger scale.
My detail is the small rectangle in the upper right corner of the larger rectangle. I have also drawn a dash-dot-dot circle object around that corner to designate the detail-area.
In layout 1 the top left viewport displays the "whole" drawing. I also created a circular viewport to display the detail on a larger scale.
In the circular viewport, I used zoom-to-object (and selected the dash-dot-dot circle). The result is visible :both circles (object & viewport) are still visible, and they are not concentric too.
I thought the zoom command would have zoomed until both circles overlapped eachother and were concentric...
I've been trying to incorporate my menus and toolbars into the ribbon environment. I skipped acad 09 so this hasn't been fun. I used the transfer feature in the cui environment to get everything I wanted. I go to 2d environment to check that everything is there and it appears to be there. I load my cui and I get my icons and menus but no ribbon. I have a big message that says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded." I type ribbon to load, but nothing.
I've now messed with this enough that even with the base acad.cuix file I still don't have the ribbons.
I use auto cad 2010.In my computer .dwg file is deleted but .bak is in my computer but when i rename the .bak file to .dwg file but it not open in auto cad 2010.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy company just got all new computers and upgraded out AutoCAD to 2012 from 2009. And every single drafter has complained to me that the new Array is terrible. Basically, it seems to take 10 times as long to set up and array as it used to and now it's linking all of the objects together as a group which is absolutely terrible for what we do especially when we are making 4 or 5 columns or hundreds of objects. I cant find any classic or legacy array commands.
This really needs to be put back in because right now everyone is asking us to put AutoCAD 2009 back on the computers, and the whole reason we bought new PCs is because they couldn't run anything after 2009 without being too slow to be productive.
I have been using AutoCAD Civil 3D lately but went to use my AutoCAD 2011 I noticed I have no hatch patterns. I thought that these patterns were located in the support folder so I got my DVD that has the program on it out and was going to reload AutoCAD to fix the problem. It would not reload it so I copied the support folder to my computer in the AutoCAD file and still nothing. What can I do to get my hatch patterns back?

There are animation settings in 3dorbit right shortcut menu, but it doesn't have option for recording a video clip.
If I define the fillet radius in a drawing and close the drawing, then next time I open the drawing, the fillet radius has defaulted back to 0 and I have to redefine it again. Is there a way to maintain the fillet radius in a drawing so that I do not have to redefine it every time I open the drawing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find an option to hide all constraints in a drawing, I am familiar with the toolbar option to turn display constraints on and off but my issue is that it's not a permanent toggle. Every time I change from a paper tab to the model tab or activate a viewport the constraint display is automatically turned on again and I must wait for the constraints and the drawing to generate. When playing checker I am frequently changing tabs or checking within a viewport, this is adding significant time required to check the drawing. I have not been able to locate a system variable or command to "freeze" the constraints until I want to see them again. an option to allow me to turn off constraint displays as I'm desiring or is this a Wish List item for R2014?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as standalone but it will not let me activate the software with the serial numbers on the back of the packaging.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a title block and border which is used in MS. If this is referenced using AMTITLE then it acts as expected. We issue these to some external people to create our drawings but they have been using CTRL-C and V to place them in a new drawing. ACAD does now not see them as a Title block or border but as blocks. We have a process to bring DWG's into SAP and this will check for a title block and border.
The issue is we need to fix these drawings and currently this means removing the borders and title blocks and placing new ones then adding all the attributes again. Is there a way to convert the blocks back to how they should be?
