when I import files from Illustrator, and import them as footage to preserve the layers, I get an object for every layer. However, when I move those layers into my comp, they are either moved by default into the center or wherever I drop them. How would I move them into the comp while preserving the position of the layers in my actual ai file?

I know I can position a single object on the top layer and then turn the bottom layers on and off, but for my needs (and in this situation) I need to actually paste that object onto each layer.
I have been working on a script to place a psd file onto only one visible layer (document has multiple hidden layers). This java code has worked so far:

mydoc.file = onFile;

however this works with only the top layer visible (eye turned on in Ai). if top most layer isn't visible i get "target layer cannot be modified" error.
For instance say i have 1,2,3 layers. layer 1 (top most) and 3 (bottom most) would be hidden, layer 2 (middle layer) would be visible and then running the script would place the psd file on to layer 2.
I'm trying to import some Adobe Illustrator files into After Effects so that I can animate them. As far as I understand, I need to import them as a composition so that the layers will remain separate from each other.
However whenever I try to do this, I go through the whole process- select the file, select composition, click OK, it does nothing. The file does not appear anywhere in my project, it's as if I haven't done anything.
i had imported a few hundred Illustrator paths to After Effects, then used "Create shapes from vector layer" to make them editable Shape layer paths to then run scripts that equalize the number of vertices on each path.
After this i thought via online tutorial that Edit > Edit Original.. would replace or update the originating paths to same number of vertices back in Illustrator, but this was proven wrong.
1) how import AE Shape paths and their Fills to Illustrator?
We use AutoCad to name our dxf files for our Burn Table and whenever we get a new part it is a repetitive task to input layers and common text. So what I am curious is can AutoCAD input the layers and text automatically using a Macro?
I want the Macro to put in 6 layers and choose the layer color and title then input text boxes with word in 3 different layers. There will be about a total of 10 different text boxes with text already put in the boxes by the Macro.

I have all line art done in AI. There's like 50 layers on it. The original artwork has "shading" and "highlight" on it used by Air brush.
I just want to import all the layers in photoshop at once. It will be time consuming if i do it one by one SO is there any way that I can transfer all the vector path from AI to PS?
I tried Meshtool and its hard to control. Unlike in Brush tool in PS, I got the freedom to adjust the opacity, softness, etc.

Running a script to open up files and convert to another type. When it gets to a TIFF type file a dialog window titled 'TIFF Import Options' is opening. This windows has an Options column that contains two radio selections for 'Convert Layers to Objects' and 'Flatten Layers to a Single Image'. How would I open the file with the 'flatten layers to a single image' set?

Now I have look all over for a way to make brushes there own layer with out having to go through the hole seal of creating a new layer shrinking it to fit the brush. then having to drag the new layer to were I want it then having to place the brush.

What I want to do is evenly distribute layers around a circle, each layer must be evenly spaced.
This image is just a very quick and dirty example of what I want (aside from the fact that it isnt evenly distributed and I just painted dots around). What I want to do is evenly place these dots around the circle, each dot must be the same distance from the one beside it and across from it.
I'm working with InDesign CS5.5 on a Mac and need to import multiple images into separate layers. The imprint project has a base layer template and several company logos that need to go into their own layer. Is there a way to bring all the logos in at once and have them create their own layer without manually creating each layer and placing images one by one? Can InDesign do this automatically or is there a script? I can't seem to find a way to automate this process.

Each layer in all documents are named correctly for automatic script exporting to PNG files.
Now I want to import all layers from all ten documents into one master file. And importantly, I want to keep the exact names of each layer.
Okay so my least favorite After Effects activity is rotoscoping. Even so, I have been rotoscoping many shapes to blur out a sticker across many shots in mocha. I have about 10 minutes of rotoscoped footage and all of my mocha shapes were able to import except this one.
The shape looks correct in mocha but when I import the mocha shape data into After effects I get this terrible moving mess that must be 1000 pixels tall. It is nowhere near what I spent so much time matching up to my footage.
when After Effects decides it wants to change my rotoscoped shape into something entirely incorrect?

I've tried taking it and exporting it from Premiere Pro and i've also tried just importing it as raw footage and it won't load it either way.

I imported audio into Audition. In Audition, I created waveform and time-varying spectral displays. With Snagit, I video-captured the waveform and spectral display as MP4. Saved it. Imported it to After Effects. No audio.
