View 2 RepliesHi im a newbie in photoshop. heres my queries. I want to make a a big circle and a smaller circle in the same point of location just like using offset path cmd in adobe illutrator using select modify contract or expand cmd.I selected a circular marquee with the size of 6cm x 6cm and filled it w/a color.while selection is active i contracted it w/ the amount of 4pix and filled it with another dif. color the result is smooth edges, but when i contracted it again by a bigger amount like 24pix it looks distorted.I think there is a technique in doing it. Can you help me guys?Just remember i want to know if contraction or expansion in ps has the same principle with the offset path cmd in ai. because the offset path cmd in ai produces smooth edges even if u enlarge it in any possible amt.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to do this kind of wavy undulating, expanding and imploding sort of writing in Corel? I would imagine that there must be two strategies to get it. The first would be to find a font that worked like this, but the second method would be more pertinent to CorelDraw. The second method is I'd imagine that there must be a way of writing normal text and then expanding it in certain ways, and something like Coreldraw must surely be able to do this, no?
But the problem is when writing a text box in Corel you don't get to write it as a box with edges that can be expanded at will, so I don't know how it could be done.
I'm wanting to record an action (but I'm not asking about an action specifically, which is why I didn't post this in the actions forum). Part of the action will be to select my image, and contract the selection for a future frame.
Is there a way to contract this image based on percentage rather than just pixels? Obviously some images are going to be different sizes than others, so if I record 100 px, this would look ridiculous on a 500x500 image.
Every time I load any project (even one I saved and closed 5 minutes ago) After Effects resizes the window. I would like to disable this 'feature' how do I do that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I have a number of shapes on top of each other, with, for example, a drop shadow on the top shape, whenever I try and select the shape below it (it is peeking out from beneath the top shape, so I click on this 'peeking' section of the shape to try and select it) I cannot - it just selects the top shape as the top shape's drop shadow is 'blocking' the shape below it. Make sense?
How do I go about about remedying this? I seem to recall being able to tell Illustrator to ignore 'effects' when making selections in CS4, but cannot work out how to do this in CS5. And is there a way to refine the 'sensitivity' or selection radius when clicking to make selections?
I am animating comps in After Effects CS6, and I'm quickly moving objects across the screen using positioning keyframes and changing size using scaling keyframes. Most of the time it works great; but sometimes the motion blur effect keeps appearing *after* the object has stopped moving. Not just for a second -- but forever. It appears correct when scrubbing on the timeline, but when I render the final output movie, a non-moving object sometimes has motion blur all over it.
Sometimes I can fix it by un-parenting some layers inside the comp... other times it doesn't fix it. Sometimes I just delete it and start over and it works. Seems more like a bug then something I'm doing wrong.
I also tried on my Mac Pro tower and Macbook Pro laptop in case it was a graphics card issue; it isn't, the exact same problem manifests itself in both areas. I did just discover that turning continuous raster OFF does seem to fix the problem--but then my vector images are blurry when I zoom in... and that again sounds more like a bug, not like an incorrect setting.
Photoshop CC up to date
5 years PS experience
Restart of file and PS didn't resolve the issue

When attempting to add simple text on an individual layer, the layer is turning black. This prevents me from seeing the text I'm editing. When I move to another layer the text displays correctly. When I go to edit the text by clicking the image the layer goes black again. It is like editing text in the dark, turning the light on to see the changes, turning the light off to make the changes, repeat.
I am still getting use to X3 and I am doing a project.
I want the text to scroll from the bottom, then stop when it gets on the screen about midway. I use the moving path to come from the bottom, but it won't stay. I try pop up, but it starts from the middle.
I've made a fabulous Smoke Text effect that I then insert the .mov file into Final Cut Pro. The smoke effect I downloaded from the tutorial has a black background and therefore when rendered out, it's a basic white text against a black background. Once in FCP, I have to turn the file's opacity down in order for it to layer over a video file and not black out what I layer over it.
How can I make the file transparent? A simple toggle of the transparency grid isn't going to do it. I need to make or find a video of smoke that is transparent?
I want to create an action where I create a stop, add text (patient's name for medical photos) which is automatically formatted to my preference of font size, color, etc. I can then hit the action play button to run the remainder of the action command, which will join and size photos from different files for printing. I can do everything but add the patient's name.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of an annoying issue regarding the text tool. I have a bunch of text layers in an invisible layer group. When I try to create new text in a layer that's outside of this layer group, it will select an existing text layer located wherever I click -- even though the selected text layer is invisible and in another layer group. I simply want to create new text on a new layer wherever I click and not worry about selecting invisible text.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI’m trying to add some text effects over my video, but I’m really stuck right now getting After Effects and Adobe Premier to work together.
From the tutorials I’ve watched online, I’ve been trying to create a dynamic link between the two programs so I could easily create texts and other effects in AE that immediately show up on my timeline in Premier. I've been able to create texts, but whatever I create in AE is not showing up on the Premier timeline. Am I missing a step? Also, when I load up my sequence into AE, all of the color correcting that I’ve done with Looks inside Premier goes away, and the clips appear as they did right out of the camera.

Sometimes when I try to copy and paste a logo, that has text around the outside of it, the text will move from its original location. How do I get this to stop? I have attached a file that is currently doing this.
I'm creating a few PS actions and I wrote a piece of text that I want to show by a "insert stop" rule at the begining of every action.
Problem is this: when I copy the text (from TextEdit) and go to the dialogue box on Photoshop, text simply doesn't paste. If i have to write it on every single action it will be a neverending work!
Rotated text.cdr
How can I stop new text boxes being rotated? When I make a new text box (or start typing artistic text) using the text tool, the box (or artistic text) is rotated 90° clockwise. The tabs also show on the left hand ruler instead of the top one. I have looked at all the options in the Tools menu but there does not seem to a way of changing this. I have attached a CorelDraw file as an example.
I am using CorelDraw 14.0.0.701 from Graphics Suite 4. My PC is running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack build 2600.
Having some trouble with the oppacity on my projects. As you can see from the screenshot, I've clearly clicked something because any text or images that I try to add to my project and set the oppacity at 0% - to then build over a few seconds to 100%, will not do this.Yet previous elements that I've added will.
Is there something I need to click to stop the new text and images from changing oppacity immediately. I want them to build over time - I can see that the added keyframe looks different also.
I think I may have made a big error. While adding text and applying (experimenting) various "Effects" with the text, I used the garbage can icon to remove the "Effect", thinking it is going to remove the 'Effect" from the text, until I realized I had to remove the "Effect" with the edit button, not the garbage can. Have I now permanently removed the various "Effects" permanently or just off the screen? How do I regain them back onto the menu column? How many "Effects" should be visible in order to have the complete set? This was my first experiment with the lettering effects and hope I haven't lost them forever.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use After Effects CC and am having trouble with the 3D camera tracker. Here is a link to the video where you can see my problem.URL....
The video works fine, until at the end, when the camera moves through the text. When it moves through the text, it starts to "shake" the text. When the camera moves back away from the text, it stops shaking again.
How do I make a layout expand with the more content that is added?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having is when I use either the square selection tool or when I Control+Click on a layer and expand the selection (square or rectangle) the corners get cut at a 45 degree. I'm using PS7 and it is also doing it on CS2 also. A Graphic Artist friend of mine tried it on his computer (CS2) and it does the same thing. I thought for sure I've done this before without the cut corners.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a box, that surrounds an attribute, increase or decrease it's width based on the width of the attribute text?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI made a circle. Moved it up about 300px then used the rotation tool to > move the center point to intersect with the art board's center point > alt clicked and set a 45* rotation. Then duplicated around.
I moved to AE and created a simple rotation animation. However, I need to exspand the the radius of those objects or create more space between them.
Is this possible without rebuilding it from scratch in Ai CS5? Is there a way of exspanding the radius in Ai?
Doesn't seem to be possible. "Expand..." does absolutely nothing, and "Expand Appearance" is disabled.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI wonder of there is a way to expand objects with a filling, without creating the outside lines of the swatches you made to create an filling.
I add a printscreen... The first F is the filling, the second is an outline view of the expanded filling and the last one i wanna create. The way i create is, deleting the squares and use pathfinder but it take a lot time to do.
I am using LR 3.5 on the MAX OSX Lion. This problem has been going on for some time, so I am pretty sure it predates 3.5 and lion. If I minimize LR to the dock to do something else, then go back to the dock to expand, sometimes it doesnt expand... The only way to get it back is to click on the icon so that menu bar at the top of the screen is Lightroom's, then quit Lightroom from the menu and relaunch...

when I expand the document window in the client area of the user interface, the window expands completely to cover the whole screen, including the surrounding panels, menus, etc. The only thing shown is the full document window. I'm not sure if this is something that can be configured in the preferences or not. I've tried all the interface settings and nothing works.
