3ds Max :: Simulating Changing Liquid Levels?

Mar 22, 2012

The bottom liquid drains through the vertical hole at the bottom. As this falls the liquid above falls with it until flow stops when all the lower liquid has gone and the hole is blocked. This then leaves the original volume of the top liquid in the bottom of the "dish".

I have considered a few options:

Creating a particle flow with a blobmesh to simulate the liquids.

Creating a "finished position" object for the top liquid and morphing between the two.

Simply moving the solid pieces down during the animation (as I need to get this out really quick)

Two questions:

What is the best method of simulating this?

What would be the best way of achieving a ripple effect on the top liquid surface and the interface between the two?

Photoshop :: Simulating Snow On A Tree

Jul 13, 2006

1. I'm not very satisfied with the snow in the trees, i've tried many filters and finally used "replace color" on the greenish parts of the trees with luminosity at 100%. I've compared with real snow covered trees and they are completely white, i guess that i should somehow "paint" them but i don't know a lot about how to achieve a realistic snow effect with the brushes (without degrading too much the original trees either...)

2. The icy sea is taken from another photo i found on the web (probably antarctica). It seemed to blend nicely when i was working on the retouching but when i opened the project 2 days later i thought that the colors of the two photos didn't blend *that* nicely Is there a "scientific" way to harmonize the colors of two photos, so that they can fit well together? (i'm prepared to hear that there's no recipe for that!)

(seemed to me that the blending of colors is top priority but perhaps something else is jumping even more at your eyes).

AutoCAD Inventor :: Simulating Tensile Test

Is there a way to simulate a simple tensile test in autodesk inventor. Let's say I draft up a 1" x 1" x 10" bar. If I input all of the material properties such as yield strength, tensile strength, % elongation etc., is there a way that I can simulate a simple uniaxial tension test on this bar? If so, how do I set it up with the autodesk simulation engine?

Photoshop :: Simulating A Velvia Film Look - DigitalFilm Vs DVPro

Apr 1, 2004

similar result of Velia film look from my digital photo, here I found two software and the introduction is as below. Please do me a favor to compare the two software.

"Digital Film" is a professional software for emulating the photography reversal film. It can make the color effect of digital photo realistically simulate that of photographic reversal film such as Fujifilm Velvia and Kodak T-Max100. It can make the image clear and vivid, and bring the image strong and perfectly clear colors, rich layers and details, as well as the reduction of noise points and color spots...

With the world-leading Exif Maker editor inside, "Digital Film" supports the updated Exif 2.21, it allows the users to add, to modify and to delete every Exif maker freely, it also supports TIFF & JPEG.

DV (Digital Velvia) is one of the most popular FM actions. Now, the new DV PRO v4.0 offers more than triple the amount of image enhancing saturation options. These 16-bit accuracy saturation steps were developed for those interested in increasing color saturation (simulating a Velvia film look) while keeping low noise and accurate colors within the channels individually.

Illustrator :: Simulating Hand-drawn Illustration With Brushes And Fills

How to simulate the following hand-drawn picture with Illustrator brushes and fills?

The situation would be... somebody would create a new vector drawing (i.e. made from a photo reference) with outlines and fills. With some easy steps he should be able to turn it into a vector drawing that resembles this style. It should be easy to do... maybe 2 or 3 steps. It could also work with add-ons or plug-ins or something (should work with CS4 upwards).

Photoshop :: Liquid Emulsion?

Nov 9, 2005

Ive been experimenting (unsuccessfully) to reproduce this effect. Originally the photographer would take a polaroid photo, and use a hairdryer to heat up the emulsion a bit, then using a pin he could "paint" with the liquid emulsion.

Then once PS became popular he started using it for the majority of the effect.

He may use a custom plugin / filter. Im not well versed on whats available but I am open to using 3rd part software if its needed.

What im trying to achieve is something similar to the pen tool where you draw your path and stroke it then using the Outer glow and inner glow to give it a Lightsaber look but in a form of a liquid. I was thinking of using the Liquify tool but wasn't sure if that would actaully work.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Extrusion By Changing Sketch Results In Errors

May 9, 2013

The attached files are two sprockets. The original part has 30 teeth. I need 34 teeth.

The MODIFIED part has one of my attempts at making 34 teeth. I have tried the following with the same error dialog box (see below):

1. Edit Sketch_6 (associated with Extrusion1) by deleting all but one of the teeth lines (2 arcs and 2 lines that make up a tooth) and making a circular pattern of 34.

2. Same circular pattern, except this time I "Close the Loop" (right-click on one of the teeth line segments > Close Loop > click on all the segments until the loop is closed).

3. Same circular pattern, except this time change the resulting patterned lines into construction lines, trace these lines with arcs and lines of my own (not construction lines), and close the loop on my own lines.

When each of the 3 attempts failed, I tried deleting Extrusion1 and making a new Extrusion feature from Sketch_6. I cannot select what I want in Sketch_6 in order to make the teeth.

I'm at the point where I'm just going to take the dimensions from the circular pattern sketch of 34 teeth, delete Extrusion1 and Sketch_6, and make my own sketch and extrusion.

For the future, I really would like to know - why is it so difficult to alter features like this? Yes, I understand that Sketch_6 is not fully constrained, and on top of this I am not privy to how it was generated in the first place (this is a part file from a vendor). But it does not strike me as something overly complicated for the Extrusion feature to recognize a change in its associated sketch. This is not the first time I have encountered something like this.

Photoshop :: Levels Bug?

Apr 11, 2008

I can no longer adjust levels. I go to Layer / New Adjustment Layer / Levels and get the box that says "New Layers" and asks "Name" (Levels 1) "Color" (None) and "Mode" (Normal). No changes here.

I click "Ok" and instead of giving me the box with the histogram, it adds a layer to the Layers Control box and gives me an eyedropper with instructions "Click image to choose a new color" If I click on the image, it changes the foreground/background colors but nothing in the image. I can't get out of this dialogue without closing the application using the Windows Task Manager.

Is this a bug? A setting? - I've changed nothing on my computer...

Photoshop :: Levels Gradient Possible?

Jan 8, 2009

I have a situation where my image is 'faded' from left to right.

The left hand side of the picture is 'not bad' (but could use a little touch up). As we progress to the right the image becomes lighter and could use more and more touch up.

I've tried selecting narrow vertical adjacent rectangles and using the levels tool (to greater effect as I moved to the right). I suppose that with enough time and patience (and narrow enough selected rectangles) I could come up with a consistent colouration across the face of the image but---!!

So, is anyone aware of a plugin that would provide a gradation of the effect of the levels tool across the width of the image?

Or of some other way to clean this image up?
