I'm interested in simulating an object that is held up by a number of ropes connected to winches, which can provide varying tension on the ropes. I'm fairly new to Inventor, and am not sure where to start.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to simulate the path of ropes through pulleys/sheaves etc. It's a bit of a chicken-and-egg set up.
My workflow is the following:
Assemble and constrain geometry
Create plane in assembly than rope will run on.
Create in-place part (rope) with box ticked for "constrain to sketch plane" or the like, referencing above geometry.
Question 1: I see my in-place component is not constrained to referenced geometry, I can drag it around?
I then ground it or constrain to workpoints used as part of the original "project geometry".
I then alter the original geometry and...nothing!
Question 2: How do I get my rope to adapt?
Attached is a mock up - original contains assemblies within assemblies etc. The base has been altered after creating the in-place parts, and the rope has not followed suite.

Is there a way to simulate a simple tensile test in autodesk inventor. Let's say I draft up a 1" x 1" x 10" bar. If I input all of the material properties such as yield strength, tensile strength, % elongation etc., is there a way that I can simulate a simple uniaxial tension test on this bar? If so, how do I set it up with the autodesk simulation engine?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a beam that is simply supported and I am needing to do FEA analysis on it. Simply supported on the ends with a load in the middle. Hand calculations show deflection is 2.256in. FEA shows delfection as 1.247in.
I think the problem is the constraints that I have placed on it. I have one fixed constraints at each end. One of these needs to be fixed and the other needs to be able to move horizontally. How do I set this up to get the correct results?
I've got a brand new HP Mobile Workstation (See spec below sig) with a NVidia Quadro FX2800M graphics card and I have had the blue screen of death 3 times in the last week while running IV2012. I think it's a graphics card problem and when I try to find driver detail on the AutoDesk or NVidia website it looks like my card isn't certified.
Does the FX2800M isn't supported and if not why?

Is reflection of properties supported in the 2013 api. In 2011 I would use reflection to get the value of properties from objects via a generic method. However in 2013 the properties aren't being reflected anymore. For instance the WorkAxis object only has a Visible property reflected.
Has something changed with the members of the types in .NET?
I had some success transferring geometries, generated with an advanced math software, to Inventor using IGES files containing Manifold Solid B-Rep Object Entities (Type 186) (see the specification IGES5-3_forDownload-1.pdf). Now I would like to include several Type 186 entities into a single IGES file and form the geometrical unit of these (and them), for which the IGES Boolean Tree Entity (Type 180) seems to exist. I'll do some trial-and-error testing, but it would be very useful to have a (reliable) list of all IGES entities the Inventor IGES import function does or does not support (like these: Transcendata, MoldflowInsight). Unfortunately I could not find such a list anywhere.
Another question: Are the IGES import/export functions of Inventor written by Autodesk (and/)or are third-party libraries used? If the latter, which ones?
In Solidworks I can emboss a sketch into a 'wavy' surface without difficulty.
If I try to do the same thing with Inventors 'Emboss' command It fails with "Only planar, cylindrical or conical faces are supported."
Surely there must be a way to achieve the same effect as in the first illustration, in Inventor ? Am I missing something obvious?
I want to make a page of old photos that look as though they've been stuck into an old album, using bits of tape, or those sticky corner thingies. I have the old page background, and I have the old ohotos ...... how to do the bits of tape or corners ?
View 5 Replies View Related1. I'm not very satisfied with the snow in the trees, i've tried many filters and finally used "replace color" on the greenish parts of the trees with luminosity at 100%. I've compared with real snow covered trees and they are completely white, i guess that i should somehow "paint" them but i don't know a lot about how to achieve a realistic snow effect with the brushes (without degrading too much the original trees either...)
2. The icy sea is taken from another photo i found on the web (probably antarctica). It seemed to blend nicely when i was working on the retouching but when i opened the project 2 days later i thought that the colors of the two photos didn't blend *that* nicely Is there a "scientific" way to harmonize the colors of two photos, so that they can fit well together? (i'm prepared to hear that there's no recipe for that!)
(seemed to me that the blending of colors is top priority but perhaps something else is jumping even more at your eyes).
The bottom liquid drains through the vertical hole at the bottom. As this falls the liquid above falls with it until flow stops when all the lower liquid has gone and the hole is blocked. This then leaves the original volume of the top liquid in the bottom of the "dish".
I have considered a few options:
Creating a particle flow with a blobmesh to simulate the liquids.
Creating a "finished position" object for the top liquid and morphing between the two.
Simply moving the solid pieces down during the animation (as I need to get this out really quick)
Two questions:
What is the best method of simulating this?
What would be the best way of achieving a ripple effect on the top liquid surface and the interface between the two?

How to simulate the following hand-drawn picture with Illustrator brushes and fills?
The situation would be... somebody would create a new vector drawing (i.e. made from a photo reference) with outlines and fills. With some easy steps he should be able to turn it into a vector drawing that resembles this style. It should be easy to do... maybe 2 or 3 steps. It could also work with add-ons or plug-ins or something (should work with CS4 upwards).
I get the following exception message while debugging, after pasting VBA code into my vb.net project:

Google earth image import has always worked well for us in 2010 but since updating to 2012 we have not been able to import a google image. We get the following error message

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was led to believe that GPU acceleration features (like smooth zoom and rotate) were supported in the PS CS4 Standard edition. Under GPU Settings, Performance Preferences, it states "No GPU options available with Photoshop Standard". To me this is misleading advertising - I would have considered the Extended version if I had known.
Maybe this will help others not make the same disappointing assumption I have. I think Adobe should make this clear in the future. It really does make me feel slighted.
