I am trying to optimize a sprocket drive but need simulating the rubber belts holding the drive section together.Have access to Several autodesk products. I was able to get a short simulation in Inventor but i need a more accurate one.
View 2 Replieswhere I can configure a HTD timing drive with a 3mm pitch, 140 tooth, 9mm wide timing belt using a 34 tooth pulley to a 48 tooth pulley.
I have the pulleys, I am just trying to get the timing belt. I don't think the drive belt tool has this style belt in it. I am running IV2011.
Is there a way I can add hpt belts to the design accelerator? I'm using inventor 2013 and I want to use 8m belts without having to find the models of each pulley and individually add them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsually what I do is download a 3D CAD part from McMaster Carr or some other place and start from scratch trying to recreate the part or, in this case, the assembly. I'm working on modeling a simple swing-arm type of machine I've made in the past and the I've been able to recreate all of the parts with their proper ranges of motion except one. It's an Inline Ball Joint Linkage that has a rubber boot around it to keep the dust out and possibly grease in. I want to know if it is possible to model the rubber boot so that it would mimic real life movement. Right now, the boot is basically a rigid cylinder and as the linkage swivels, the solid bodies clip through each other.
I've been able to make a flexible hose type of assembly as shown here: [URL]... However, creating a 3D drawing with a spline that attaches to work points on the other assemblies causes the Ball Joint to no longer work. It will only rotate as opposed to swiveling.
I am trying to verify the bending strength of a solid part. Need to calculate the section modulus on certain cross section. Don't know how to do it using inventor.

When I apply pathdeform modifier to a single object with defined curved spline, there's no problem with the animation.But when I attach multiple objects to form single polygon the deformation path messes up.Objects astray from their initial positions before attaching.
I want to make a page of old photos that look as though they've been stuck into an old album, using bits of tape, or those sticky corner thingies. I have the old page background, and I have the old ohotos ...... how to do the bits of tape or corners ?
View 5 Replies View Related1. I'm not very satisfied with the snow in the trees, i've tried many filters and finally used "replace color" on the greenish parts of the trees with luminosity at 100%. I've compared with real snow covered trees and they are completely white, i guess that i should somehow "paint" them but i don't know a lot about how to achieve a realistic snow effect with the brushes (without degrading too much the original trees either...)
2. The icy sea is taken from another photo i found on the web (probably antarctica). It seemed to blend nicely when i was working on the retouching but when i opened the project 2 days later i thought that the colors of the two photos didn't blend *that* nicely Is there a "scientific" way to harmonize the colors of two photos, so that they can fit well together? (i'm prepared to hear that there's no recipe for that!)
(seemed to me that the blending of colors is top priority but perhaps something else is jumping even more at your eyes).
The bottom liquid drains through the vertical hole at the bottom. As this falls the liquid above falls with it until flow stops when all the lower liquid has gone and the hole is blocked. This then leaves the original volume of the top liquid in the bottom of the "dish".
I have considered a few options:
Creating a particle flow with a blobmesh to simulate the liquids.
Creating a "finished position" object for the top liquid and morphing between the two.
Simply moving the solid pieces down during the animation (as I need to get this out really quick)
Two questions:
What is the best method of simulating this?
What would be the best way of achieving a ripple effect on the top liquid surface and the interface between the two?

The situation would be... somebody would create a new vector drawing (i.e. made from a photo reference) with outlines and fills. With some easy steps he should be able to turn it into a vector drawing that resembles this style. It should be easy to do... maybe 2 or 3 steps. It could also work with add-ons or plug-ins or something (should work with CS4 upwards).
The transformation settings are changing every time a drawing is reopened.  The computation method is switching from "reference point" to "unity" - see attachment.  This is causing the software to use a scale factor of 1 instead of the computed scale factor at the defined reference point when scaling our points from state plane to our local ground system.  This completely screws up our entire survey workflow that we have been using for almost 2 years.  We had no issues like this in the 2012 or 2013 versions.

When picking multiples files, to bring in xrefs, I can pick them, but some of the other in the office can not, it want let them pick more then one file at a time.
One drawing we have has a weird quirk. The rubber band line for the Distance command is black. The background of our AutoCAD is also black, which makes it very hard to see. This only seems to affect the Distance command as the rubber band for the Line command is grey (though the current layer is yellow).
I have confirmed this is limited to just one drawing, no matter what machine you open it on. The AutoCAD version we are using is Civil 3D 2011.
I have checked the following: DRAGMODE (auto), HIGHLIGHT (1), restored colors to default, made sure 3D views were not on, rendering off, UCS set to world.
Next step? Repairing the AutoCAD installation is not likely to fix the problem.
When I use the distance command and pick the first point the rubber band line doesn't appear and then when I pick the second point I get a distance, but I have no way of knowing exactly where the points I picked landed.
I saw another post about the rubber band being black against the black background, but that is not the problem.
When I turn Otrack on I get the rubber band, but I don't like Otrack on because it causes other problems. How to get the rubber band to work the way it did before?
I need to scale up about 300 circles (manholes) but i need to hold the center point of each manhole. is there a command for this so i don't have to scale each individual circle?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I adjust the hue and saturation on a image (big adjustments like + 60 on sat, + 10 on hue) and click OK the colors revert back to about 15%, or less, of what I raised them to.
1. This only happens on a particular image that I scanned in.
2. This did not happen on the first few prints of this image (didn’t save settings, etc., so I had to redo the next time - a few days later). And it doesn't happen on any of my other images (non-scans).
I've tried reloading it from the CD that I burned and starting over, but it does the same thing.
(Using Photoshop 7 and trying to print with an Epson 2200.)
Using "drive constraint" I would like to simulate the action of a "soft close" mechanisim on a drawer...fast movement for the first portion of travel, then slow movement for the very last portion of travel...

To activate the new position of the assembly of approx 5k instances takes about 5 minutes in IV 2013 when using Drive constraint. The larger the assembly the longer it takes
In IV2011 takes about 10 seconds. I've never seen the "Not responding" sign in Drive constraint window in previous versions. I'm just wondering how can avoid this "New feature" of 2013.
I have some similar flat sheet parts defined as an ipart. I want to cut a text string, specific to that part variation, out of each part with a stencil font. I was hoping to use the new 2011 text parameter and some geometry text to cut out some different text from each part by either putting the text in the iPart table or using a multi-value text parameter and the part id (0,1,2,3 etc). However, geometry text doesn't seem to allow text parameters (which is odd as its the most natural use for a text parameter IMHO).
For extra bonus points: While trying 101 variations to accomplish this I found btw that iLogic rules don't seem to work for iParts (i.e. they're greyed out). Is this right?
Also, geometry text doesn't work for splines, ellipses etc?
