Apr 24, 2013I have edged faces off in my model but as soon as i select something it shows that selections edged faces, how do i turn this off any?

When I am in an editable poly, and the Viewport is set to Smooth & Highlights + Edged Faces...
When I go to make a polygon selection, the edge faces option divides each polygon into two triangles which is just annoying. Maybe I'm just used to newer versions of max where it doesn't do this.

May 10, 2011pre 2012, if you had display edged faces on, the selected splines would turn white - so you could tell what was selected in viewport. using nitrous, this isn't possible for us. Open GL or Direct 3D work fine but not nitrous. or is this a bug?

Jan 29, 2011I'm building a tree prop that uses a push modifier to create the outside effect of the shape I want. The problem is that the Push modifier has pushed many faces into others... leaving a bunch of geometry "inside" the model... in essence leaving a larger polycount than needed and wasted.
i tried to draw a cross section view of the encircled area... as if you were looking up the cross section up the tree. I'm hoping to get the geometry to match the "desired" drawing.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Splitting Curved Faces Into Two Faces?
Jan 11, 2013i got Inventor recently, and i've been working on a model of a longboard just to teach myself how to use the tools in Inventor. right now i'm trying to color areas for the griptape pattern so i drew the 2D pattern and projected it onto the 3D model of the longboard. but when i tried to split the faces of the model along the projected pattern only a few of the projected lines split the faces. for other faces i kept getting these errors:
Create parting line failed Crane.ipt: Errors occurred during update Split11: Could not build this Split The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs.
Photoshop :: Get A Smooth Edged Cut Out Without Gap?
Oct 10, 2012When trying to cut out a piece of an image such as with cmd shift J with anti aliasing turned on, there is a gap between the cut out and the new image about as wide as the marquee. If I turn anti aliasing off there is no longer a gap, but then I have a very jagged cut out, since may of the pieces I'm cutting out are circular. Is there anyway to still get a smooth edged cut out without the gap?

Photoshop :: Getting Straight Edged Stroke Around Text
Nov 23, 2011Whenever I add a stroke to text it never stays straight edged like the text, it becomes more rounded. Question is, is there a way to stroke the text with the edges staying straight instead of rounded without having to just draw a box around it or something?
Here's a picture of what I'm going for, I'm fine with making a box around the text (there are other characters, rounded characters like an "O"), but it would be a big time saver if there was a way to do it quicker.
Stroke in Photoshop is on the left, desired effect is on the right. The letter "i" might be a bad example, however the effect I'm looking for is a stroke keeping the shape of the text rather than rounding itself.

This worked fine when we were in '04 - but it isn't working in '12... is this a bug?

i could never make picture in this style of the attached one below quickly and whatever technique i had before i've forgotten so i want to know if anyone has a quick technique of turning normal pictures into this wicked pop-art flash style. I can tell it should be easy but extracting the layers of colour seems to be the hardest.
AutoCad :: Removing Xref From Block Without Removing It From Drawing Block?
Dec 22, 2011Drawing A has a grid system Xref-ed into it. It also has a block reference in it, repeated in various places throughout the drawing.
I Xref-ed the grid into the block to check something, and now I can't get it out. This means that the grid now repeats all over Drawing A as well and is generally being a nuisance.
If I try to unload the Xref within the block, it unloads it in Drawing A too. If I try to detach it from the block, it returns this message: Xref [Xref name] has multiple references. Not detached. If I try to detach the Xred from Drawing A, it returns the same message.
How do I unload the same Xref that occurs in a block in a drawing, and in the drawing itself, independently of each other?

Aug 13, 2011I switched to MAX 2012 recently and it's hard for me to texture my models because of selected faces being highlighted red while using modifier like UVW Xform, UVW Map and Unwrap UVW.
On older MAX release when you selected desired polygons to apply UVW Map for example, faces stoped being red, now it's not and I can't see how my texture is applied on my model because of that.
3ds Max :: Texturing Faces Of Same Polygon
Mar 29, 2012I have made a cube, and given a basic cube UV map. The material I want is a standard 2D map (say noise). The problem is that each face gets the same pattern of noise. I would have the same result if I had a basic bitmap as the material.
My solution has been to make a Multi-Sub material, and then use a different noise seed for each side of the cube. This works fine, but it makes it time consuming to do something like change the color of the cube (as I would have to edit 5/6 materials).
So, I am asking, is there a way to either make the UV behave as if each face was part of the same "thing" (spread one noise map over the image/stretch the bitmap). Perhaps make an object use multiple materials (or something like that), so that I can have a Multi-Sub for a greyscale noise, and then a basic color that I can change to effect all of the sides at once.

Jan 4, 2013I would like to compare two faces to see if they are the same face. I have three faces and a hole feature on one of the three faces. I am trying to determine what face the hole is on(top, right, left). I can get the face the hole feature was created on as:
