3ds Max :: How To Have A Planet Continuously Spin Around

Jan 28, 2013

I have been trying to get a planet to just spin continuously around - which I can do with a timeline animation - unfortunately the animation starts slowly at the beginning and slows down at the end - even if I loop it.

How do you get it to smoothly rotate forever without speeding up and slowing down. Someone mentioned using the graph editor - but as I said I am new to this.

Is there a tutorial for this sort of thing. I have done a lot of googling without any success.

3ds Max :: Texture Is Not Sticking To Planet

Mar 1, 2011

I am having issues with the Material editor in 3ds max design 2011. I am creating a solar system as a school project. My planets follow a circle spline. I put textures on the planets in material editor to resemble the planet texture. My problem is, the texture is not sticking to the planet. The sphere itself follows the circle spline and makes 1 complete rotation around the circle spline in 87 frames and the sphere spins 2 complete times showing all sides of the sphere as it follows the spline. However, when i render it, I see the same side of the texture on the sphere on every frame.

Apon opening the zip File, look for the planet called Mercury. While toying with the timeline, you will notice that the planet follows the spline around the sun, as well as spins on its Z axis. But in the render, the planet does not move on its Z axis. It follows the spline, but does not spin like it does while in the design stage.solarsystem2.zip

Photoshop :: 16-bit Radial Spin Blur In PS

Sep 24, 2008

I first saw this problem in CS2 (Windows XP, Intel P4). The radial spin blur filter introduces pixel noise at about the 8-bit level, which is horribly bad if you're expecting a smooth result out to 16 bits. It can be seen by taking a 16-bit image, applying a radial spin blur (10 degrees is fine), and then bumping the contrast way up (say using levels 125 to 130 in an area that's around 128). Zoom in to see the pixels. The image should be completely smooth but instead you'll see random dots all over. This problem was reproduced by somebody at Adobe during the CS3 beta with a promise that it would fixed for the release, but it wasn't fixed. My question: can somebody try this in CS4 and tell me if the problem has/hasn't been fixed? How about with a 32-bit image? I don't want to be suckered in to buying CS4 like I was for CS3.

GIMP :: How To Create Rotating Planet

Aug 5, 2011

I've tried to create a rotating Planet for my program ( the rotation itself is fine... but it feels like the image is moving left inside a circle frame ) . I was told I need to add depth, bump so to say. I've tried to add a bit of bumpmap with gimp

Filter-> Map -> Bumpmap . Azimuth = 134, Elevation = 46, Depth = 15, Waterlevel = 87, Ambient = 57 .

But it does not feel round... I'm obviously no expert at Gimp. What should I do with the following image to make it feel more round, the center should feel like it's higher...and the corners should feel like they are going around to the back.

If I tried to create a volume light out of an omni, it would tend to wash out the globe. any links to a more photo-realistic unwrapped Earth textures than those that I was able to Google up.

GIMP :: Spin Object About Its Center

Apr 8, 2011

I have not been able to find a way to spin an object about its center, smearing it out in the process.

I'm trying to make a circle which is white in the center, falling off to black on the edges, following a specific contour. I could use Gradient to make a rectangle and cut a narrow line out of the Gradient which I would then like to spin-about its white endpoint.

It would make a nice effect to take any image and rotate-while-smearing around some point and through some angle.

Paint.NET :: Creation Of A City Planet

Feb 11, 2012

I've taken some time to follow some tutorials and I think I've become pretty decent at making planets over all. However, I decided to try and create a city planet, but I don't know exactly how to execute it.

By city planet, I mean something that looks like Coruscation from Star Wars. I've tried making circular and ovular patters, but they don't turn out right when I render the 3d effect. Also, the texture just doesn't seem to come out as smooth as the one in the picture.

Illustrator SDK :: Running Plugin Continuously In The Background

Jan 13, 2014

I'm just starting out trying to make a plugin for Illustrator CC and have been a bit stuck the past few days, so I have a few questions.  The plugin I'm trying to make would have it where when you mouse over a path, an annotation pops up to display the length of the path, reguardless of what tool you have selected.

The major question I have is if it is possible to make a plugin that runs in the background without having to select it as a tool?

I've been going over the SDK and guides and have tried altering the annotator sample project along with trying to make it from scratch, but I haven't gotten the results I want.  I got Annotator to display the length of paths, but I can't remove it's tool properties or make it run like it's always selected.  When I've been tryng to build from scratch, I don't see how to track the cursor since it seems to need the AIToolSuite.  I've also tried to use AINotifierSuite with kAIArtSelectionChangedNotifier, but haven't gotten it to work correctly and it wouldn't work just by mousing over paths if I had.

Details:
OSX 10.9.1
XCode 5.0.2
Illustrator CC 17.0.0

After Effects :: 3D AI Layer Won't Continuously Rasterize Properly

Jul 29, 2011

How come some AI Files I use in a comp, that has the continuosly raterize option checked, becomes soft when the 3d layer option is also checked?

The AI object looks slightly unsharp until I click continuously raterize, then it is good to go to scale anyway I want. But it get blurry again if I click the 3D Layer option.

Note that this blurring takes place whether there is a camera or not in the composition and that nothing is animated so it can't be a motion blur issue.

Maya Animation :: Propeller With Acceleration To The Spin?

I understand how to set up a cyclic rotation for a propeller using the graph editor and post infinity, but my understanding only extends to a constant rotation speed. Is there a way to apply post infinity to selected ranges of frames, or is there a different method for achieving that effect?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Project Navigator Continuously Loading?

Nov 15, 2012

In my office of about 30 computers and over the course of about 10-12 months we have been experiencing a problem with project navigator. When opening ACAD or changing projects about 60% of the time it gets hung up and the load bar perpetually loads over and over again. If just left to run it takes 5-10 mins to load the project then ACAD will crash after a couple of commands. If opening the task manager and ending the program it will often freeze the computer for about 5-10 mins as well.

We have been actively using the project navigator for years and not until the last yr have we been having this problem. We bought pretty much the whole office new computers a few months ago and the problem still exists. We are running AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and our machines are window 7, intel core i7 3.5 GHz, 8 GB ram, 64 bit operating systems, with a Nvidia Quadro 2000 graphics card. So our machines are solid.

Lightroom :: 4.3 Continuously Refreshes Image In Develop Mode?

Feb 20, 2013

I am using LR 4.3 with Photoshop CS5. I have found that after editing a picture in photoshop (transfer from CR2 to .TIFF file) it correctly transfers back into LR as an updated .TIFF file with all edits from PS. However, on further editing of the picture in LR the image is refreshed after EACH edit (ie. file reloads into LR taking a few seconds). If I am trying to apply an edit as the refresh starts then that edit gets lost i.e. NOT applied. The refresh happends after ANY change to the file. It is very frustrating as it wastes time and makes editing slow (have to keep waiting for a refresh). It does not appear to happen in that way when editing CR2 files.

I have only noticed this feature since installing V4.3 although it may have been happening in previous versions.

I am using W7, i5 2.5 Ghz processor and 8 GB ram with dual screens.

The planet surface texture is a flat space view map. Usually when I apply images like these to spheres it perfectly wraps however this time it is confining the image to one "corner" of the sphere.
