3ds Max :: Deforming A Sphere Without Reactor

Sep 23, 2011

We no longer have Reactor Softbody, so if I wanted a sphere to be dropped on to a table how do I get it to squash and deform as it hits the table (other than doing it manually with a FFD etc)

MassFX would do the basics of that but I can't see how it could deform the mesh?

Photoshop :: Deforming Objects In A 3d Way

is there a way (probably a pluging) to deform a 2d picture in a 3d mesh? I work with virtual shoes, so I need to scan fabrics and apply them to shoes, but I want to deform the fabrics to make them look more realistic.

Illustrator :: Art Deforming When Scaling

Jan 29, 2014

Artwork becoming deformed after scaling or moving it?

I attached a screenshot of a piece of clipart that I scaled down twice with the original showing on top. You can see in the art in the middle position that it's been changed while the original size and smallest size seem to be fine. They are all the same, copy, pasted and rezied.

It's happening very often, and once it does I end up having to re-import or redraw the art.

3ds Max Animation :: Mesh Deforming Incorrectly When Skinned

Dec 28, 2011

I have a simple head rig that I am working with (chest, neck, and head bones) that I can't get to deform correctly. It is a very high poly model (tris) because I imported it in from Leonar3Do so the skinning was very basic.

Anyway, I linked the eyes to the head bone and when I move the head bone the eyes follow it correctly but the mesh deforms very slightly so as to keep the eyes from being lined up with their sockets. I can provide the file if need be.

Maya Modeling :: Deforming A Group Of Objects?

Dec 10, 2012

I am currently stuck with a problem in Maya.

I need to deform a group of different groups.

I have a Guitarfretboard that is build of 3 groups.(as in the pic)

What i want to do is create kind of a "stairway to heaven". So i would need to deform the whole group and make twirls and ups and downs, like a railcoaster.

The best way that i found to do that is to set a lattice on the group. But then when I deform the lattice points the single groups wont hold together anymore and start to seperate and mess up.

Maya Animation :: Cluster Deforming Object Which They Are Parented To

Jul 18, 2011

I'm having a deformation problem with clusters. Basically, the clusters are deforming the object which they are parented to. I've checked "relative" for each cluster under the attribute editor.

Regarding hierarchies, the above is the last iteration I have tried. Before that, I tried parenting the clusters to curves first then parenting the curves to a master control. The object was also parented to the master control.

I've tried maya default of grouping individual clusters first then parenting them to either the object or the master control, but the same results are achieved.

Please see the video below.

At one point the clusters were behaving as required, but I can't reproduce the results. I was going to animate the CVs, but parenting the curve to geometry or control presents problems of its own.

Maya Animation :: Parented Objects Deforming On Rotation?

Feb 19, 2012

I used to be able to create quick a makeshift skeleton for things like robots by parenting the objects that make up the robot to each other hierarchically. But the past few times I've tried to do the same thing, the child objects deform in weird ways when I rotate the parent. I looked and found a few references to this in forums, but not a single solution. The idea of going through and setting up either a proper skeleton, or parenting everything to group objects seems unnecessarily complex and frustrating when there was a simple solution before.

3ds Max Animation :: Animate Cylinder Deforming Along A Path - Volume Select

Feb 22, 2012

Got a bit of a puzzle here, trying to animate a cylinder deforming along a path. Fairly standard stuff. Got the path deform fine, but now I need any of the vertices that enter this one area to be deleted. Volume select with a mesh object doesn't seem to work, as it will only select the vertices where the cylinder is before the path deform object. Is there any sort of work around/way to collapse the animation of the path deform? I know I could do snapshot if I only wanted one frame of it, but the cylinder moves along the path over 1500 frames.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Creating And Deforming Assembly Of Ultra-thin Layers

Oct 3, 2012

I want to make 3D assemblies of very thin layers (the layers have 1000000:1 lateral to depth dimensions) in AutoCAD. Currently I make them in PTC Creo, but I would like to move to using AutoCAD instead.

What is the best method to do this? Specifically, how can I extrude multiple (6-8) ultra-thin layers individually, then join them in an assembly which I can bend and flex to make 3D surfaces? I have attached a Keyshot render of a design I did in Creo. I would like to make the exact same structure in AutoCAD. The design is 6 layers stacked on top of each other, joined as one part, than manipulated into a complex, 3D shape.

Also, is AutoCAD the best Autodesk software to do this? I have access to the student versions of the Autodesk software if it makes a difference.

AutoCAD VB :: Xdata / Reactor Length Of Lines?

Oct 7, 2013

I have a lot of lines that I need a length, like in attached file. At this moment I do it with a vba  that put fields in all lines.

The problems:

1) fields makes drawing slow to regen or after I modify line.

2) fields not follow lines slopes and position, if I stretch or move one end point of line. Text must be in middle of line.

So I thinking use reactors .

I tried reactor but I don't have much experience in lisp and I am having problems with persistent reactors, after I close file and open again, load lisp. Reactor not continue persistent.

This is a test that I tried. Works only for one line.

(defun print-align-text ( owner reactor lst / sp ep a d )
(setq sp (vlax-curve-getstartpoint line1))
(setq ep (vlax-curve-getendpoint line1))

[Code].....

I have read that is better store data using XData. In VBA I tried construct class module with events, without any success.

It doesn't work because INSERT is an interactive function and can't be called while a reactor is active. Is there another way to redefine a block that can be used in a reactor? The block is in one of the default search path's.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Reactor Triggers Fatal Error

Jun 15, 2012

I have created a very basic reactor as a test. As you can see, it doesn't actually do anything other than set a variable so I know the error isn't caused by something I'm doing with the reactor.

 (defun np:test (reactor callbackdata / ) (setq abc 123))(if (not np:reactor1) (setq np:reactor1 (vlr-command-reactor nil '((:vlr-commandwillstart . np:test))) ))

OK, so the problem I have found is that if I load this reactor into a drawing and then use the MVSETUP command but escape out without completing the command, AutoCAD throws an error and becomes unusable. When I then close AutoCAD down I am met with multiple unhandled exception errors before the app finally closes.

I then altered the reactor from a vlr-command-reactor to a vlr-editor-reactor and found that with this, I am no longer met with the same error while escaping out of MVSETUP. However, when I close CAD down I am eventually left with an 'AutoCAD Application has stopped working' error dialog on screen which reports that acad.exe as crashed.

I am working on AutoCAD Architecture 2012 (although I have tried it on 2013 to with the same results) on Windows 7 64bit. I have also tried this on ACA2012 x32 and found the same error exists.

I am doing something fundamentally wrong in the way I am handling reactors?

Photoshop :: 3D Sphere In Extended CS6

Jul 10, 2012

Here is a still from what will be a trade show video. The problem is that the longitudinal lines are a bit wobbly, especially near the poles, for instance in the top right quadrant, between the orange and yellow earplugs. [URL]..........

I created a new 3D object with the preset sphere from a layer that is a grid of my client's products.  As the sphere rotates, the black edges of the grid straighten out as they come around to the front, and then get wobbly again as they approach the edge of the sphere. At first, I made the black part of the grid from a bitmap mask (which had caused a problem in an earlier 3D file) but no, same problem when I made the grid from a vector mask.

Pretty sure it is not a hardware issue as I have gone thru all the optimization steps for using the Mercury Graphics Engine on my quad-core iMac 27" with a supported video card, and the latest version of OSX.
