View 1 RepliesI've just installed CS3 Premium and having a look through the 'content' cd that comes with it.
If added all the stock images to my HD, and have seen a folder full of "textures for lighting effects" ... does anyone know where I need to install these and how to access them once they're installed?
Just started having a play with ray tracing in Inventor 2013 Pro & I'm quite impressed how quickly you can get a rendered view of a model. However, it seems no matter how I set up the lighting or the shadows in the 'Settings' menu when I click on 'Tay Tracing' it seems to default back to some original settings. The shadows & lighting in any of the drop down menus don't seem to be applied. eg. I select 'Two Lights' from the menu, then select 'Settings' I then adjust the shadows & the lights from within the menu. It all looks good on the screen & click Ray Tracing & everything that I've done doesn't get applied? However, when I cancel & stop the Ray Tracing the shadows & Lights are still there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit confused about the "Texture folder" in the "Presets" of Photoshop CS.
What are these textures used for & how do I access them in Photoshop aside for navigating to the "Textures folder" buried in my C dirve.
I assume they are associated with the Texture filter, but I have some new "Amazing Sci-Fi" textures I want to play with, if I put them in this folder, how do I access them when I need them? For lets say just a fill/clipping layer etc.
I've unwrapped the uvs and am correcting the texture on a model. The model is essentially a building facade on a plane. The plane has a single large texture of the facade applied to it and that works fine. But I'd like to use another texture for a small area. I went to uvw unwrap> faces, and selected the area. Then I applied proj>planar map with x axis, turned off plane map and went into the UV editor and loaded up the new texture from "pick texture". The uv editor shows it fine. I make the adjustemnts and then leave the uv editor but it's not applying the nex texture in that area, instead it's applying thw whole facade to that small area.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just had my first 3D experience in Photoshop mapping a bunch of different label options onto a cylinder - everything was working perfectly until I re-sized the image.
Now each label change-out gets displayed as one of the labels - Photoshop will only display one label despite there being mutiple layers and layer comps.
If I:Go to the diffuse texture for each label and choose "Edit texture"A new window opens showing the correct label/texture.
I'm creating 3D architectural models; primarily interior views. I use the ANIPATH command quite frequently and I'm good there.
However, I have not been able to render a still camera view that shows the lighting and resultant shadows. Whenever I attempt to render a still from a particular camera; I set it to realistic. It shows the 3D objects with materials; however not the lighting.
I've been using ACAD for about 15 years now, and consider my skill level upper-intermediate.
So far, the only successful still renderings I've been able to do are those directly associated with the typical ortho views: i.e., NE, NW, SE, SW, front, back, etc. But no avail on rendering from the camera point of view.
Inventor seems to do lots to allow for simulated appearance textures. However, how does one use actual physical textures, e.g. for a plastic part? I need one surface of the plastic part to be very rough/bumpy, another to be slightly rough/bumpy, and another to remain smooth/untouched.
Let me be forthright and say I have no background here in textures/plastics/molds etc.,
I was wondering how I could duplicate the texture of this gear/star thing? I want to use the same texture for a square shaped frame. I already tryed messing with the bevel and emboss layer style but I didnt get a the matching result that I desired.
My next question is how do I make my own custom bevel and emboss layer style textures?
How does one create a texture similar to this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor my 3D scene, I have to use a texture file on the floor. If I use the only file, than it looks really boring and below par. What I want is, I want to generate some (around 6-8) texture files within the original texture file - so the colors of all the texture files remain same but only the texture varies.Likewise there are more than 500 texture files and I just can't do them manually. Is there any way out to do this in Photoshop?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a lava texture and a ground texture. I'd like to be able to make some cracks on the ground texture that would show through the lava texture below it. Something like a cracked mud look. I would be using this for a game I'm making form some terrain textures. Are there any plugins that would aid in making these transparent cracks and perhaps even add depth to the cracks?
I guess a spider web where the spider was on crack would be something I'm looking for. Similar to the following image:

Can you make and add textures to photoshop so you can use them as other textures.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded this months freebie from the Xara newsletter... it was a package of textures. I have never downloaded textures or other things like this before so I have a dumb question, lol... I unzipped the folder, but I don't know where to put the textures. I thought there would be a "textures" folder or something in the program files that would be obvious, but I'm not seeing anything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have decompiled one of the mdl files from Half Life 2 and imported it into 3ds max successfully. In the preview panel, you can see that the textures are on the model. However, when I render, the textures do not show; I just see a black white model.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running into a problem when trying to follow the "Getting Started: Animated Battle Scene" tutorial.
I am at the "Adding Materials to Objects In the Scene" section of the tutorial where I am being instructed to add the textures onto the objects, however when I open up the Compact Material Editor, the samples (Battlefield, Cannon, Windmill, ect) are missing are nothing (but grey spheres). Sais files are located in the "Documents/3ds_Max_Tutorials_scene_files" folder, the same where folder where I loaded the "Animated Battle Scene" from. According to the 3DS Max tutorial file download website that is the correct path. However, I Keep getting the same "Missing External Files" message when trying to open the textures for the Battlefield tutorial. What is the correct path for 3DS Max to locate said files?
I have downloaded some textures and wish to install them. I have gone into Finder, found the presets folder but I don't have a texture folder?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a pyrimid 3D object with which I have appled a the puzzle texture to it. The problem I am understanding is why it has automaticcaly seperated each peice of the 3D object.(left, back, right & bottom.) Thats issue one.
Issue two is when I applied the puzzle texture - it only applied it to the one side and did not wrip the texture around it as I would have expected it to.
How can i turn a picture i have created into a texture. then load that texture, via the texturize option or pattern fill option.
Unsure what format to save the file in, or if there is an easier way to do this.
I am using PS CS2 and the Unreal 3 engine. I came across a tutorial that had to do with particles in the Unreal editor. The tutorial went well but at the top of the page he had the texture he used for the base of the particle. Here it is: Particle Texture I am seeking information on how to make my own textures like this that I can use for custom particle effects. I have tried blending options, filters and layer setups trying to emulate this texture but all of mine come out to rough and less "whispy" and smooth like the one above. The textures I make work fine in the editor but because they are not smooth and what not the particles look very blocky and unconvincing. Any tips or roads to go down on how I can achieve textures like the one above?

hi all ! Im contributing in a project called infinity the quest for earth http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/ And since its a space game Im trying to get hull textures/tutorials.
Is there any good resources for that? I have looked but there is nothing detailed or good enough.
Thanks!
I've been using photoshop for about a month now and i'm developing a pretty good basic knowledge of it. One thing that i dont understand are textures. I understand that you can create textures in photoshop using tools such as filters and that you can use the texturiser. Ive tried using the preset texturiser setting and ive loaded my own ( ive takenb pics of textures in the real world) and used them on objects but it just doesnt look right- the texture always seems 'behind' the colour of the object, if u know what i mean - and looks dead tacky ...
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan some direct my to a good, possibly free, stock photo site for acquiring grungy textures to apply to images with blend modes and layer mask. Hoping for more organic results than what I get with the filters.
