Photoshop :: Photographing Versus Scanning For Rare...

Feb 16, 2008

I am an archivist. We have some old, rare documents from 19th century - collections of letters, diaries etc which I want to preserve electronically. I get excellent results when I use a scanner. However some of the documents are fragile and the use of digital photography would cause less damage.

I have been investigating this for some time and have got all sorts of advice - sometimes contradictory. Now this is the issue for me at the moment: I have some test photograph files (of documents) on my computer (which I photographed with a good digital camera and saved to computer.

Improving the output, removing background etc, is my issue. To what extent can I improve the photograph using Photoshop or some other similar program. I would love to submit one or two of these photo files to you who are expert and see what you can do with them. That would give me an idea of what I need. I am not sufficiently conversant with the photoshop program to do this myself.

Xara :: Clip View Hidden Feature

Oct 11, 2012

I'm discovering clip view more and more recently and noticed that when you convert a clip view to editable shapes, the clipped shapes are trimmed inside the line width, very clever.

I used to intersect shapes to perform this kind of action but this method is superior as is involve much less fiddling with stacking and does not cut in the middle of the line.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Adding Save Run Macro To Automatically Run Macro

Dec 30, 2012

I have been using the addin "Save Run Macro" to automatically run a macro every time the "Save" button is pressed.

Any of the following questions about "Save Run Macro"?

1] When I protect the macro from viewing (so I can protect my code) "Save Run Macro" does not see the macro.

2] When I save the part for the first time (ipt, iam or idw/dwg) the macro does not run. I always need to run the macro again.

Photoshop :: Stacking 10 Images To 1

May 2, 2013

I have 10 exposures (photos) of stars and i want to stack them into one photo, but not start rails. I want sharp stars. With more exposures we get more details on the picture and less noise. I open all pictures as layers and use "edit"> "auto align layers", but got this message "Layers do not overlap enough to detect alignment. In general, images intended for alignment should overlap by approximately 40%."

So, i tried second option, "edit" >"auto blend layers", but got worse result. I don't even know if i use right tool. I hope you understand what i want to say. Here is the example (he stacked 6 30sec exposures into one in Photoshop, but how? :/): go to Flickr and add this at URL (i cant post URLs yet): "photos/corsonandroski/4887232674/"

Photoshop :: Stacking Layers

May 11, 2006

I've been using photoshop cs (now cs2) for a year - especially for photography, and there is something that I just don't understand which should be as simple as scratching your ....back. I often apply multiple filters on different layers like this: copy background layer (call it base layer) and every time I'm applying a new filter I'm doing so by stacking a "frech" copy of the base layer and painting on Layer Masks if needed - no problems so far.

My question is: When I'm stacking with a fresh base layer ready to get some - lets say noise - the underlaying layer (could be for example a blur filter) dissapears - I know I can copy the layermask and drag it up if I have for example reshapend the eyes, but the blur of course dissapears. As for now i just flatten the image and start again but I know this is not the right way to do it.

Is it possible to aplly multiple filters on top of each other and then use merge visible and then at last apllying the merge visible layer a layer mask and paint back the sharpnees of eyes, lips ect. SHORT: HOW DO I STACK LAYERS WITH MULTIPLE FILTERS AND AT THE SAME TIME MAINTAIN THE EFFECTS ON MY WORKING DOCUMENT (PICTURE). Thanks for any advice given .

Photoshop :: Focus Stacking Does Not Work?

Jun 24, 2012

I tried to find a CS6 forum in which I could post but could not find a forum that I was alowed to post inI have taken several photos with multiple focal points and I am trying to merge them in Photoshop CS6 but in every attempt I end up with a single layer that is used while the others indicate no selections at all.

Even when using just 2 images the process only uses the first image and it sets the mask to transparent.Here are the steps I've been following Open each of the images I want to stack.Use the Photomerge tool with Auto, Blend Images Together, and Add Open Files. This successfully creates a new image with multiple layers but areas are being selected.Use Auto Blend Layers, Stack Image with Seamless Tones and Colors checked.The obvious result is no change because only the first layer is being used.

All subsequent dockers would automatically stack on top of the top most docker. How do I do this in X6? Refer to the attached file to see what I mean. My docking window are stacked to the right of the workspace.

Photoshop :: Layers Stacking Order

applyng a layer and flattening. Now i really want to get over this hurdle so that i can save important images unflattened for further re-adjustment later.

I have browsed the web for two days and found nothing that helps me. The crux of the issue is that i get to a point where i have applied maybe three adjustment layers and then aaply say a sharpening layer only to find i cannot see its effect on the image due to its order in the stack.

Is there any way to stack preset filters on photos?

I remember back in Lightroom 3, you could select some filters, like Cold Tone, then select another filter and would apply itself on top of the Cold Tone filter.

Now, it seems in Lightroom 4, every time you select a filter, it completely overwrites all the settings of previous ones.

Lightroom :: Photos No Longer Stacking After Photoshop Edit

Jul 11, 2012

I have Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 running on a Mac. I have the box checked to stack edited with originals.

I recently moved all of my photos to a an external Raid 1 drive - I did this within Lightroom, so that Lightroom knew where everything was. Everything seemed to be fine.

Today, I realized that after going to Photoshop and coming back into Lightroom, my photos are not stacking. Not only are they not stacking, but according to Lightroom they are not in the same folder, even though they are.

I am not working from a collection, I am working from the actual folder structure on the drive. If I go to photoshop, edit, save and come back, when it returns to Lightroom, where normally the new edited Tiff would pop up - now it returns a black screen, saying "no photo selected". If I go to the library module, the screen is still black. If I go the top of Lightroom and click on "All Photographs" the tiff file is there next to the picture. However, it is not stacked. If I try to stack it, it says that it can't stack photos that are stored in different folders.

I don't know where Lightroom is putting this Tiff file. The folder that I was editing from had 20 photos in it. I went into photoshop, came back with a tiff, and there are still only 20 photos in the folder, yet if I go up to all photos, it is there, so Lightroom put it somewhere.

When I go look at my external hard drive, the tiff file is there. It is right next the raw. In the same folder. So, it seems that Photoshop is putting it back in the right folder, but Lightroom is not.

Lightroom :: Stacking Large Groups Of Images Crashes?

Jan 17, 2013

Using Lightroom 4.3 on OS X 10.7.5 (Mac Pro with 24GB of RAM) I'm having problems stacking sets of images. The groups of images I'm stacking can range from 50 to 1400. No matter the size, stacking a group of images stalls and I have to quit Lightroom. At best I'll stack one group, quit, restart and move on to the next group. The stack doesn't show before quiting, but appears to be stacked on restart. If I'm lucky I can get a few sets of images stacked before things devolve into this dysfuncitonal cycle of stacking, quiting LR, opening LR, confirming stack is complete and stackin a new set of images.  Is this a known bug? Any fixes to get past this? I'm working through 15000+ images to edit and organize for a project of mine. The total image total is higher, but I've stopped collecting images in LR for this project until I sort out this problem.
