I know that extruding a sphere in Extrude tool is not possible, but like to play with it and not giving up.
As experience so far, starting from a circle a 208-210 extrude depth with 999 Curved bevel type, that gives something around like an apple.

Applying 3D to a shape and then using the extrude tool (changing a few times the extrusion) causes a crash here in Pro X 9.I had the same in Pro X.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMany times this has happened to me and I have never been able to figure it out. How do I remove a 3D extrude? I had almost finished a new project and was attempting to 3D extrude part of it when the program crashed now I am stuck with parts etruded and I can't seem to remove those parts. Unfortunately the part I am concerned about was difficult to do because it was an experiment text wrapping an object. Maybe I can open one of my saves and get it back that way. I don't know because I only just now thought of that possibility. Never the less I still want to know.

My target would be just a simple brown, however also good question can be added bitmap fill on the sides? But if that would be brown instead of the current gray, that is absolutely okay for my targets, as I can see sure there is no line applied on the object so that should be controlled somewhere else

I'm thinking of buying Xara Designer Pro.
I can't seem to find any info about extruding shapes that are in PNG format etc.
For example, if I have a star shape in a PNG file (or BMP etc) is it possible to extrude it in Designer Pro? If the image file needs to be converted to another format
On an iMac on OSX ver. 10.6.8.
Going thru the Getting Started tutorial. When I started doing the "Drawing a Polygon" lesson everything was cool 'til I tried to extrude the bottom part of the helmet. I select Edit Mesh> Extrude, but the extrude arrow/handles don't show up on the polygon. I tried to Modify the Tranformation Tools, but as you can see in the screen shot, there isn't really anything to modify. Tried to reset it. Nothing. Tried to go in the Preferences, but I don't know what to set, if anything. I tried to turn of the Construction History, but I don't even see that icon. Tried to reinstall Maya. No improvement.
I have created a path with the pen tool (the brown part), and now I want to extrude it, but it extrudes the whole containing block (See image below)
Now I have tried everything, from grouping to compound paths etc, but nothing works.
How do I extrude my path?
Extrude manipulator tool will not show up when I try to extrude. I don't know how to turn on the construction history either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Xara Designer Pro 7, when I have selector tool active and want to drag over a number of elements to select them the selector tool will change the size of the canvas (page). Is that not a bug? I used this way of selecting elements often, and it is not good for me with this new behaviour.
Is it a bug or is it a new setting which I then need to change?
I'm using Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 6 and I'm having fun with it. But there's one functionality I can't seem to find that I really need. I'm a CAD operator (and have that mentality), and I really want my AutoCAD Offset tool. It allows you to copy a line or shape a certain distance away. More importantly, if you "offset" a shape inside or outside it's boundary, it automatically makes the new shape equidistant from all the borders.
Anyway to do it in Xara P&GD6?
In Xara P+Designer 6 I can select an area to clone, then edit that selection with the Selector Tool.
I don't seem to manage that in XD 7 doing the identical thing, well, attempting to. Am I not doing something that I should be doing, for it to do the same as in Xara D6?
I can edit with the Shape Editor tool, but not rotate with the Selector Tool.
I don't know how to use efficiently the mold tool ( not a lot of tutorials about it ) .
Maybe it's not possible in Xara but here is an example from an artist's work where the text ( and picture ) fits very well on the page :

There was a fix to put the old bezier pen tool (the Shift+F5 one) back in XD Pro 7, which I can't seem to find. what it was, and if it still works for XD Pro X?

I know there is a general way to do this but it seems to elude me at the moment. I go to the button palette and can use the tool from there but would prefer that is was on the side bar.
When I click on an object corner point, and try to resize it, I get the 4 way arrows (not the diagonal double arrow bar) and the resizing does not keep the aspect. Is it a setting or a bug.

But, I cannot find the Blend tool, was this tool removed? Where can i find and add it?
Is there a tool to correct the colors of shapes in a group in Designer Pro x?
I mean something that can change contrast, brightness and saturation of all colors in the group at once.
For now I use the bitmap filter "Enhance" but sadly the outlines become jaggy by this.
You can easily fix crooked photos, zoom and crop with the fill tool.
The first step is to make sure you have the rulers enabled (window>bars>rulers) then click and drag a horizontal guideline from the ruler.
Select your photo and select the fill tool, you will see that your photo is actually a vector shape with a bitmap fill. Click and drag the outer fill handles to enlarge (zoom) the bitmap within the shape and rotate as needed to straighten the image. Move the cursor over the line of the fil handles until it changes to a hand then click and drag the photo around to adjust it's position within the shape.
I applied a ceiling perspective to my text and the words appear jagged. Why and how do I fix this?

For example in the 3D Extrude Tool>Textures&Photos section I would like to reproduce the example but how do I use the Selector tool to make the reflection?
Is these a way to replicate the graph paper too in CorelDraw - it makes it super-fast to divide a page up into X number of colums etc. I cant find this in Xara.

I followed the instructions in the help file (as well as an old man can!) and cannot get it to work. For instance, I cannot get the color tolerance/fade controls to move off of 20/25% respectively. Following the instructions in the Help file, I first used the Color Select/Erase Tool to click on the sky in several areas to erase it. The instructions then say "Now select the Make Mask button on the Infobar." My problem is that I don't see a Make Mask button. I see a Make soft mask button and an Edit Input Mask button. Since the instructions go on to talk about these other two buttons, it seems clear that they are not the Make Mask button. So where is that button?
I might add that I am also looking for a way to make just one part of a graphic transparent. Would this Color Select/Erase Tool be appropriate for doing that?
I finally downloaded Designer Pro 9 and installed the 64-bit version and, to my horror, realized it does not support Photoshop plugins. So I uninstalled the 64-bit version and installed the 32-bit version.
But now I find that the live-effects tool seems to be missing from the 32-bit version too!
I had thought the 64-bit version might be a bit more stable, but the old one was pretty stable. So now I'm wondering if I should plunk down money for the new version.
I'm pretty happy with the previous version, which oddly enough is called Xara Designer Pro X (go figure). So I'm going to ask for a possibly politically incorrect and certainly unvarnished opinion: How much of an improvement is the new version over the old?
I use it mostly for making graphics for websites or for making posters, leaflets, and such. I do not use it for website design.
