Xara :: Text Following Curve With Upright Letters?
Nov 20, 2012Just right now, I can't find a possibility to attach a text to a curve with upright letters.

I follow the tutorial in the Xara Help, but cannot get the results shown. I draw the circle, compose the text, and set it to the middle Select both circle and text Arrange/Fit Text to Curve....the text appears around the lower, right side of the cirle After all this I am unable to manipulate the text (It's a piece of cake to do this in Publisher 2010, but it has some minor problems in appearance)
When I fit a line of text to a curve, it never quite 'fits.' The text is always skewed across the curve, instead of being 'on' the curve. Is there a way to fit the text exactly on the curve/line?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to construct text on a curve by writing it on a circle's circumference, but the cirlce fills and so overlays any predrawn items beneath it.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi've been using xara pgd for a few months now and absolutely love it. massive jump up from my old program which was very limiting (graphic design is a hobby / business necessity, not my full time gig).
so my first question to you good peeps: i've been trying to "bend" text to follow a radius using 'fit to curve' ... this has been problematic as the text wants to align itself at the end of the curve rather than the middle.
is there another way to bend text to a specified radius?
I am having an issue with the "upright" script in my ltype descriptions. Apparently it works the way it is supposed to and not the way I want it to.
The upright is set to 0 which orients the text in linetypes to be shown as "upright" to the model space. In most design cases; not an issue, but I am designing construction plans along a roadway and as such, north is not always "upright" to my viewport. Is there a script (ie ...,u=v],... or ...,u=vp],...) that will orient my text based on the line displayed in the viewport?

I have a simple little block that has an alignment parameter so I can pop it on a wall, pointing the way I need. I would like to add a line of text that will keep a rotation of 0deg no matter which way the block goes in. I can do it with bedit after the fact, but can I set the block up to insert correctly to start with?
is there way to Fill letters of texts individually?
So for example if there is a word "HELLO", applying a linear-simple-fade fill from H to O, it handles the whole text as one. So first character is the most and the last one is the less faded.Could be done that individually the H-E-L-L-O five characters get the fade?
I do a lot of design for engraving and most of the items are odd shapes that I wish to fill with design. I wish to engrave a name in block letters on a heart shaped locket. I wish for the name itself, to be in the form of the heart. I know I can put a mold on the name and play with the handles to sort of get it close to a heart shape, but it occurred to me that it would be real nice to simply drop a photo of the item into the file, do a nice outline of the item with the pen tool or shape tool and after getting a real good outline...to just make that shape into a mold I could save and use to apply to most anything I wish to mold into a heart shaped form. Is there a way to make a shape outline...any unfilled shape into a "mold" and not have to play with the preset mold shapes that are found in the mold tool? Any way to save it once you went to the trouble of making it? I had hoped there would simply be a right click on the shape and a menu button saying "use as mold" or such. Another menu choice with "save as mold"...that would put the icing on the cake..
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Corel for driving a fiber laser through a dedicated Net connection not available to the rest of the network and it and my computer are right next to the switch.
My problem is that when I send a job from the PC to the laser it works fine. If I make a small change on the graphics, I save it and send a new job to the laser. Quite often, some part of my grapics is left off the plot even though I didn't touch that graphic or mod it. So I send the job over again and now somewhere else is missing some of the graphic word...usually a word or a letter or number. I usually turn off the computer or get out of Corel and come back in and it is fixed. That doesn't sound like a network dropped or corrupted graphic. I have tried turning off the laser with Corel still up and it doesn't fix the problem when I bring the laser on line again.
I cant see how to do this but there must be a simple way of doing it. Howe do I have pointed corners for the top left and top right then curved bottom left / bottom right of a rectangle that I create. I tried unlocking the shape but it still seems to do all or nothing. Am I missing something obvious?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a blend from a small rectangle with 5 steps, so in total 7 small ones.
Beside I have drawn a circle, and so selecting the blend, with shift click also the circle, I would like with Blend Tool apply the Rotate along curve function.
But somehow that is not active, only the Fit Blend to curve, but would need rather the rotate.
what it depends whether the Rotate along curve button is active in Blend tool?
The outline of this small fish drawing on paper, it seems with one continuous curve, so in XDPX9 that should be logically with Smooth joins and Making curves

According to your experience is there maybe some tactic where to put the control handle points? At the curves or rather where the line is straight? After around some minutes probably in any way can be drew around, I am searching the logic rather which decrease that time.
see attached picture, is it possible to trim the parts of the curve that go beyond the shape? In a CAD programme you can just trim these away and join whats left to form your shape.
By the way i am trying out the trial of Autodesk sketch book designer, (not to be confused with sketchbook pro). it has vector graphics in it and has some neat ideas xara could benefit from. Check out the video, i like the direct transformable fills. also the way lines are handled.

Have I missed function to align a group of objects along a curve, like text along a curve, or there is not such function?
View 2 Replies View Relatednew user to GIMP. Trying to add text, but when I type - instead of the letters appearing in the text box, the shortcut keys are being used instead.
For example:
If I type "R", instead of "R" appearing, the Rectangle Select Tool is selected
If I type "M", instead of "M" appearing, the Move Tool is selected
This has only started today, hasn't been a problem before now. Just wondering if I've accidentally turned on a feature?
I know how to make a sentence go around the inside/outside of a circle, but suppose the sentence is not a line of typed text, but rather a line of hand-calligraphed letters which have been scanned and vectorized?
Another way of asking my question: how would you put a line of curves (letters) around a circle? To visualize, it is for a flat, coin-like pendant which will have a quote going around it.
I have a logo that I want to plot, it has both picture and text. When I vectorize the image the graphic part of the logo looks great. The text cannot be identified. It looks like a bunch of shapes.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm making a newsletter in which there are pages which has to written in malayalam. i use charmap (Start>Run>Charmap). in that i make a sentence by selecting each letters.. Charmap has its own text field where the written text is displayed. from that text field i've to copy paste it to corel draw's text field.
Now the problem is whenever i paste it on corel draw's text field, the letters come a bit jumbled up. i've noticed that the vowels get jumbled up. but when i paste it on ms word, it comes as it is.
So how can I accomplish something like the 'Reckless' text in the picture of the hat below using Gimp?
I already know how to 'text along path' but then the letters are skewed.
I want to create a text wrap - or drop cap - for a giant letter B. But I can't figure out how to do it, and every tutorial I see for drop caps refers to InDesign, and those steps do not work in Illustrator.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need a script for Illustrator CS6, that...
1. Opens a dialog where I enter a letter, like "A".
2. Script then check the current layer for text with this letter, and "unview" (opacity = 0 or color=white), all other letters on this layer. So that the layer will only show "A", or "a" and no other type of letter. The script needs to check all text objects, some "a"s will be in objects consisting of several other letters also, like sentances. Script needs to find the letter in these and mute all others.
how to curve text within a shape, as paragraph text, not artistic text? (See my attached image.)
I have drawn the shape, inserted the text as paragraph text, but the text always wants to sit straight. I am so frustrated as I can find a workaround in either Corel or Adobe CS products. I have tried using artistic text in Corel, but have to do it line by line - and this brings other problems, such as I cant justify each line with each other, and sometimes a character jumps up relative to the other characters and the entire paragraph does not taper in...so this is not a solution, apart from the fact it will take me FOREVER to insert line by line....I would like to treat the text as a multiple line paragraph, and follow the shape.
I am trying to learn how to write or design text letters using images for instance I want to know how i would write Photoshop using noodles or electricity wires.

How do I select all the text and change the same letters to a selected color at once, I know how to change the color for a letter one by one, but it is too tedious.
In the example, the red text is along the path (dotted red line). Normally the letters would slant too, but is there a way to keep them vertically oriented while doing text-to-path?

Do I need a special plug-in. How can I put something into its negative (black/white -> White/black)?
When I print my project to pdf there appears to be a copy (in white) of the text behind all the letters.
