VideoStudio :: Write Movie To File Instead Of Disk
Feb 10, 2011
With prior versions of VideoStudeo I could create a movie and write it to a folder instead of a desk. I used this to preview movies before burning them. How to do this in X3. Neither DVD Factory nor Burn have this option.

I have tried burning a Blu-ray disk using Movie Fatory 7 without any success. First of all I tried to burn an mpeg file to the disk (File Format not supported message in DVD Movie Factory), then in VS4 I tried "create video file" as a blu-ray format PAL Mpeg2 1920x1080 in VS4 - then went to "Create Disc" opened DVD Movie Factory 7 and selected BluRay, (File Format not supported message in DVD Movie Factory), so then I searched these forums and found that it looked like I should create a AVCHD file format in VS4 PAL HD 1920, so I did that and then went to "Create Disc" and got the same error message that file is not supported.
How do I create a BluRay disc that will play in a bluray machine? I have bought blank BluRay discs, but Movie Factory won't burn my file formats?

I am building a new computer and have heard that, no matter how much RAM you have, Photoshop always writes the scratch file to a disk. Thus, considering a second small SSD drive to use for scratch and Windows page. Other people have said that if have enough RAM, Photoshop never uses disk. Which is true?

The AutoCAD LT 2012 crashes when I try to copy certain features to different locations. The size of the drawing file is about 3.2 MB. The error message reads as below
FATA ERROR: Cannot write to undo file (probably disk full).
Error: Unhandled Exception
There were some messages posted earlier in regard to this error. Most suggested cleaning temp directory, having more RAM, more graphics memory, etc. I have done everything but I could not overcome this problem. My system specifications are
16GB RAM, Windows 7 (64-bit), More than 100GB free disk space, NVIDIA GEforce GT-120 (512 MB).

I am using Civil 3D 2011, and the last 2 days I have been running into this issue. I tried google, and the most recent item google brought up was from May 2011, so I am coming here.
I am trying to import a tab from another drawing, and it does not matter which tab or what drawing, I am getting this issue.

I currently use X4, but have X5 ready to install. I shoot with a Canon M41 in the lower quality selection of HD. The file is AVCHD with about 16 mbps. The best HD is 24 mbps. I use the lower because with the software included with the camera, creating an AVCHD disk is limited to the lower standard and shooting in the higher standard required considerable time to down render the files to create the AVCHD disk. Camera Manual indicates 60i or 30p. Confused on this issue. When I create a movie in X4, I selected Blu-ray 1920P. This seems to introduce some slight artifacts like moving, fine horizontal lines and some strange flick of some objects like flower fields. Converting to an AVCHD disk takes several hours for a 25 minute movie consisting of 3 shorter movies. Also, the artifact effect is increased. I just did a trial of creating the movies in "same file type as first clip". The resulting file is about 15% smaller. Also, rendering an AVCHD disk is quicker and no artifacts. Am I on the right track? The software included with camera created excellent quality videos but was camera specific and very limited in adjustments, etc. Corel could provide more info about the confusing file types.
Also, X4 will crash with "unknown error caused program to stop". I save frequently to return to where I was editing. Doesn't seem to be a consistent answer on this issue. I hope X5 is more stable.

Originally was using Vs10 when most of my discs would only get to 58% and go no further, threw away many discs thinking they were the problem. Have now upgraded to VS11.
The solution is to get hold of a small (free) utility called FixVTS from here: [URL]

I finished my HD project in VS X3. It consist of 1920x1080 clips, titles, music, transitions. It was compiled as AVCHD NTFS 1920x1080. I got a 8 min 13 sec file as just over 1Gb in size. It was payed well in the computer.
Then I tried to get a hybrid DVD by using DF7SE. I choose DVD=>AVCHD, add simple menu and burned a disk. When I tried to play on TV screen by using blue-ray player I found that only menu screen exists, but no my video yet.
I repeated this after number of re-compilations. Even I re-install DF7SE. But result was the same. Then I put into my hybrid disk this mpg file and couple similar 1920x1080 AVCHD files from my prvious projects. Also I slightly modified my last project file, compiled under different name and put into the same disk.
In a burned disk I can see a menu of all four files. But on TV screen I can watch only two files from my older projects.
I couldn't find any differences in older and newer projects.

I'm using the free trial version of Videostudio X5 and have 3 video files I am trying to burn to a BD-R disk. The files are H.264 and when I preview it before burning, the menu I created works fine. One of the three files is large, over 9gb. When I burn the disk, the large video file is not burning correctly. When I go into that file from the menu, it just loops back to the first menu item. I tried burning just the large file to a BD-R and it worked fine. The total project size is around 17 gb so I'm under the 25 gb limit. I think the next thing I'll try is breaking the large video file into two files. I'd like to buy the software if I can get past this glitch.

How to create an MPEG2 file before creating the disk, I just tried to do this and although I'm using 1080/50i footage in 16:9, the only options it gives is below.
I am now trying to render using the optimiser in custom mode which gives me the settings I need, i.e. higher data rate and 16:9, but still cant adjust the audio type etc.
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(MPEG-2), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
Is there a better way of creating the MPEG2 file.

I got that message when I was trying to export a Quicktime movie - although it appears it's going to let me continue to export the Quicktime - I'm hoping it'll have audio when all is said & done. Although I understand the words, I have the following questions:
1. What does it really mean?
2. How will affect me/my life/the Quicktime file I'm exporting?
3. Perhaps most importantly, why is it happening & what can I do to prevent it in the future?
The file I'm trying to export is the same one from the 7-hour Process time thread I posted about on here recently. It's the simplest possible thing:
- 1 Layer of around 15 "reels" spliced together
- 1 (adjustment) Layer of a single color correction gap effect that runs the length of the whole timeline (don't think this has anything to do with the problem at hand)
- 1 audio track w/ 2 mono layers, L&R, of a single AIFF soundtrack file

I've just completed my first project and when I attempt to create a video file for hard disk output I'm unsure what option I should select from the drop down box that gives me the highest quality without re-rendering the video.
My AVCHD 50p original files are according to the file properties in VSP -
PAL HDMV
H.264 Video
24bits, 1920/1080, 16.9
50.000 frames/sec
Variable bit rate (max.26000 kbps)
Dolby Digital Audio
48000 Hz, 5.1 channels 384 kbps
So it looks like I need to select AVCHD 1920x1080 50p however in the properties for that file creation, the video bitrate is max 20000 kbps (my video 24.7) and audio is only 2.0 (my audio 5.1).
I really would like to retain the 5.1 audio and my higher video bitrate.
Also when I view the project properties the video is shown as 1024 x 576.
PAL double (50 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 1024 x 576, 50 fps
Frame-based
Uncompressed
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 bits, 5.1 Channels

At the EDIT step, the voice level of each HD clip is in reasonable level, but during playback of the entire project the voice level droped down. Also after rendering the voice level is still low. On the other side, the voice level of imported music from audio CD doesn't changed. Is it suppose to be so? I am using the Pro X4 program.

I have a sequence of still jpgs I rendered out of Maya. There are 90 total. I want to throw them into the editor at 30fps and have them be in order. I have tried simply copying them all and dragging them all at once onto the timeline but that leave each image at 3-4 seconds per image and they are not in order.
I know there is other software I could use to do this but since I'll be editing the video in Video Studio I thought it would be nice to be able to do this inside of it. Is this possible with Video Studio?

I made a new template for creating a 30Mb/s "one keyframe/frame" MOV output content which worked well when set via custom settings. When I wanted to use my template in the "create video file" prompt, my VSX3 "needed to stop" ...and I was asked to send the .DMP file to Corel tech support. VS restarted OK, but once I selected "create video file", same story: stop.
Trying to delete form the movie template manager, same story: stop. Changing the settings to lower performance MOV in the temlate manager worked, but still same result when trying"create video file". Couldn't wait for the Corel support. Full reinstall solved the problem.

I'm trying to remove a watermark in an old movie made of my son in high school (about 8 yrs old), by a friend of his. It's right in the middle of the screen in bright red. They didn't care about it back then as it allowed them to format their movie online. Before I put this very short clip in my memorial video I want to clear that out. Don't know what original software was used. My son's friend can't remember either. Does Videostudio have a way to fix this?

How do you burn a movie to a dvd disc? I created my movie, then clicked share tab. DVD factory 2010 opened up and I created my menu. After 3 hours of converting file the burn said failed with no explaination. So I then made a file of the movie. Opened vs3 again and tried to burn the saved file which was an mpg format to disc. The program doesn't recognize mpg files only vsp files. The program made the mpg file. So how do I burn the mpg file to disc?

Using Video Studio Pro X5, I edited a home video and saved my project into vsp file. When I previewed the video, it looked fine. I clicked Share, Create Disc, chose DVD, click Next, Next, Output, chose Create to Disc, and clicked Burn icon at the bottom right. It rendered for a while and completed.
When I played the DVD, the movie loops (meaning it played to the end of 15-minute video clip and did not stop, it went back to the beginning and played again and again)

I have been happily using this program for a few weeks and have nice movies and view well on PC. Only problem I find is being able to save a Movie to dvd to play on a dvd player. The only way I can do it is to save the movie as a video file and then burn to disc using Windows DVD Maker. As far as I can see I have tried all options on Video Studio, and have had no success at all.

I am using Video Studio V12.0.98.0 (Pro X2)
I can successfully output an .mpg file for a Windows 7 laptop attached to a LG BX324 Projector [URL]
I use Share | Create Video File | HDV | HDV 1080i 50i for HDV option to achieve this.
I would like to output a movie suitable for an Apple Computer, in frame height 1080 x 1440, as this presentation is for a lecture theatre.
Currently, I do not have access to this Apple computer. I am trying to play a movie generated by Video Studio on my Win 7 PC using my Windows QuickTime Player 7.7.1.
May I ask, is this the way I can test if I can successfully generate a movie suitable for an Apple computer using my Win7 PC?
I've been stumbling around with the share options, but all I seem to be generating is movies of a small size e.g 576 x 720.
Which Share settings should I be using for movie of 1080 x 1440?

When my daughter presented for the class on her teacher's computer there was text covering the video that seemingly had nothing to do with the video. I can't reproduce it and I don't even know what kind of system the teacher uses, but is there some trick to burning a disk so that it displays the same on anything and everything?
