Using VS exclusively now, so here come all the questions.
I cant seem to "drag" a simple space between 2 clips on the same track. I wish to have a 5 second delay in between two clips.
I added a number of clips to a new project and then realized the result would be too long for a good quality DVD. I've edited the ones I want to retain and deleted the others. The deleted clips all followed the edited ones.
However the space taken by the deleted ones still appears on the timeline although the clips are not on the storyboard. The project duration window still shows the original length.
I'm using VS 11. Is there a way to insert gaps between clips on the main video track? I can do this when I move the clips to the overlay track, but I need the overlay track for actual overlays, so I don't want to do that for this project. I need gaps so I can put in narrative text between each clip.
Alternatively, is there a way to have multiple overlay tracks?
When I split audio and then create the sound file, that file and the audio in project also lost.
I can add audio file normally but when I mix many clips, I just can hear sound whenever I choose the clip only. If I choose the whole project, the sound will be lost although the background sound still exist.
When I replace X5 by X4, there is no problem. But I prefer X5,
I want to create video clips on top of my bands music. I load the music track just fine. Now I have 10 or so video clips that need to be inserted in certain places on the timeline to be sync'd with the music. But everytime you bring a clip into the video row it automatically locks to the last clip entered. Why can't you place the clips of the artists playing, in the correct place in the timeline? Also isn't there a way to display the audio track as a waveform?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using X5 since last year and have been able to create and burn DVDs without issues. Today I tried to create a DVD (I chose "Create Disc" from the "Share" menu) and a new window came up titled "DVD Movie Factory 7". I have never downloaded this and I am unable to get past this window. Did Corel update X5 with this new software? I can not create a disc like I did 4 weeks ago. I forgot to mention that I did have to perform a recovery and reset my computer to it's original settings a few weeks back and I reinstalled X5. My computer info is as follows:

I created an m2p video file with premier pro and imported it into VS and saved the project as a VSP file. It is just one complete clip of approx 1hour 20mins that needs no other editing except I added 4 chapter points and saved again.
The problem is that when I try to create a DVD by either Tools/Create Disc/DVD or through the Share Tab at the top, a window opens ok but I cannot do anything with it.
My project shows in the media clip list at the bottom (It shows black because I have a couple of seconds of black video at the start) but I just cannot find a way to get it into the preview pane so that I can use the jog slider or view the project.
When I click Add/Edit Chapter, another similar window opens and my file shows along with the 4 chapter point but I still cannot get it into the preview pane.
I was having an issue in Corel VideoStudio Pro x4. I could not create custom video output files (profiles; see attached image). So I ran VideoStudio as admin. No luck. I reinstalled it as admin and ran it as admin. No luck. I tried manually changing the files corresponding to the default video profiles with notepad. Initially I was denied access. Through a rigorous method of trying to figure out why I was denied access to changing the files, I found out that I was denied access to even renaming the Corel folder (with nothing running corel programs).
I downloaded a better version of task manager to figure out what must be running in the background. Nothing was running anything located in the Corel folder. I still couldn't even rename the corel folder on an admin account. I booted in safe mode (and then I could change the folder name, etc), and changed one of the default video output profiles. The changes stuck even across computer reboots, but my changes were not recognized in VideoStudio (no clue why; I changed the profiles found in the profile subfolder of Corel).
So, I figured what with the sale going on, I might as well upgrade to Pro x6. Bought it. Uninstalled VideoStudio x4 completely. Deleted the Corel folder entirely from Program Files (x86). Installed VideoStudio x6. Got it launched as admin, attempted to create a profile, and got the same error. Trying to rechange the Corel folder results in the same denial of permissions that I used to have, even after running it as admin, disabling UAC, and changing the security permissions on the folder itself.
How to create a custom profile. Attached is example errors. Need tocreate a profile that is the exact same as the WMV HD 720 30p default profile, only with better sound (24 bits instead of 16 bits and/or 48/96KHz instead of 41KHz), and then direct me to which folder I should place said filed in (as changing stuff in the profile folder didn't seem to make much difference).

I have a problem creating a video file. I have HD camera and use Corel Video Studio Pro X3.
After I finished downloading all videos, I add transitions and click “create video file”. After that I select AVCHD NTSC HD-1440. I give file a name, save as “mpeg” and click “ok”. The file begins to render but then I always get an error “The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis”.
After that the programs shuts down. I am unable to create any videos with transitions. I can though make video with no transitions or other effects. I have a copy of the "dump" file but cannot attach it here, the system won't let me.
I have upgraded to X5 (15.0.0.258) Windows 7 64-bit QuickTime Player 7.7.1 K-Lite_Codec_Pack_840_Basic.exe
I am using an input file of:
a 30 second .avi file, frame size 1440 x 1080 15 frames/sec

If all I do is clip the .avi to a 10 second output (eg .mpg, .mpg, .wmv) with no editing, I get a jerky movie (which appears to be one frame per second).
I have put up a 10 second clip here to show a sample of the jerkiness (which was created using x3) but it is the same jerkiness.

On a particular project, when I go to 'SHARE' CREATE DISC' DVD' NEXT' I am unable to change the Menu template. An error message box tells me 'Failed to change menu template'
Program then hangs, if I try to close, I get another error message 'The program has encountered an unspecified error, Contact Corel technical support and send the dump file for analysis' The message goes on to specify an address for the dump file which I can not find.
Other projects work normally, I am able to change menu templates and create DVD discs.
Even with the offending project, I am able to create a Video file without problem.
I couldn't create DVD disk, or, couldn't create video file either. It would go to about 99% & then hang the system for hours (until stopped with Task Manager).
I had installed all of the updates, including SP2. I've uninstalled today & I will re-install in the next day or so to see if it works.
I have to make a couple of changes to a piece I edited 2 months ago on Premiere CC. When I open the file premiere lists out several clips that it says are missing. I've hit "locate" but nothing comes up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Premiere Pro CC, up to date, on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. After week's vacation opened large project to find all clips offline. When I linked, they located fine but OK produce "the importer reported a generic error". I know the clips are on their hard drives and have not changed position. I am not sure of next step. I have always been able to link before though have not used "locate" dialogue box. Checking other projects reveals consistent problem with importer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden my Videostudio X4 will not play any clip for longer then a second or two. When you play a clip or the project it plays for 1 or 2 seconds and stops just like you hit the stop or pause button. Click play again and it does the same thing. Makes it really impossible to edit. It had been working great up until last week. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still have the same problem. I have excluded my anti virus from scanning the Corel folder.

It would seem that all you would need to do it right click and mute while they are still all selected from the import but the mute setting isn't active. meaning I have to mute each clip separately. That takes a LONG time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have ONE large 1hr AVI file captured from a DV camcorder. I have used Corel Videostudio to "split by scene", and that works fine, all clips are cpatured. BUT the shooting date for the clips are shown as the same date and time for all clips.
Where can I see the actual shooting date for each clip? I tried to use the old Win Movice maker on a WinXP machine, and here it works fine.
In corel VS I also tried to take one clip in the middle of the file and used the shared function to create an DV AVI file. This file I imported to VideoStudio - and now the date and time for this single clip is right. Unfortunately if I a convert all clips into one single file again I still have the problem.
In the past using VS10+ I noticed an issue importing sound and music clips. I did import them into my project from my music folder without any problems. The issue is when I deleted the sound and music clip from my folder it disappeared from my video project and I would have to get the clip back into my music folder and keep it in there until I burned a DVD. Is this routine for VS?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am importing some .avi files and burning to a disc. Most of the .avi clips are fine on the DVD, but two that have panning sequences are very jerky. I checked the source .avi files and they pan smoothly.
I've explored changing the Speed to Quality slider and also the Frame Type (Upper/Lower field first) setting to no avail.

Cannot preview .MPG files.VSPro5 won’t play MPG clips.
I have only ever worked with AVI files, MOV files OR Video_TS files with few problems and have recently upgraded from CVSProX4 to X5. A family member has asked me to put all his home movies onto DVD. These are in MPG format.
I can import all the individual clips into CVSProX5 – however, the clips will only play when they are selected as the whole project. Selecting an individual clip for editing purposes results in a green screen. However I can manually move the scrubber through every frame within that clip (with an absence of sound) – but will not play that clip. I have converted some clips to .MOV format and can then play (and edit) and listen to individual clips.
I don’t particulary want to convert many hundreds of individual .MPG clips.
I just created a project with many different clips. Some of them play perfectly while others are jerky in playback. The original videos were imported to Correl from video files downloaded from the internet. Some of them are MPEG and others are AVI. It seems that the MPEG files play fine while the AVI files are slow. Not sure why this is since I created another very similar project and the AVI files in that project played back fine.

When I add a clip the sound is ONLY played when volume for the clip is 100% (other value makes the clip mute) and is the clip preview, not the project preview. (project preview plays only the added soundtrack- if there is any).
Even if volume is 100%, when exporting the project, clip sound is muted (only the added soundtrack will sound).
- Of course I have tested several clips, and with or without an additional mp3 soundtrack.
- I also installed the just released VS SP 1, but no changes.
- I export (Share) using Vimeo HD template.
- Problem is not shown if I use VS 11 (which I also has installed).

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy question: I prefer to shoot my videos in 720p, to optimally match my TV. I see that in VideoStudio, the only 720p option is by using HDV. Is there any other way to get 1280x720 output? I see that AVCHD and Blu-Ray only offers 1980 and 1440 options, both which resize my videos (which I do not want). I'd like to save back as 1280x720 MP4, but VS's MP4 option doesn't provide this.
(Now that I think about it, why does VideoStudio offer 1440 rather than 1280? I thought 1920x1080 and 1280x720 were the common HD formats.)
Taken video clips with that camera? It uses mpg4 ACE (which is not a codec known to VideoStudio) and my PC tells me that the clips come at 30.05 fps. What can I do now? Why the clips aren't 29.97 fps?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a long time Pinnacle Studio user trying out the demo for VS6 Pro. Is there a way to adjust the volume at a point in the project so that the audio to the right follows the volume setting, including all the clips to the right of the edit point? I like to bring down the audio for a good portion of the project then bring it back up etc. It would be very time consuming to have to do this for each clip.
