VideoStudio :: How To Resize Clips That Are Too Small / Large
Mar 16, 2013
Just downloaded the trial of Video Studio Pro X6 and am trying it out. I have a past background with Adobe Premiere and even VideoPad, so while I'm not new to video editing, X6 is a little different to me. My two main problems at present are sizing and capture.
I'm trying to figure out how to resize clips that are too small, or too large for that matter, to the mpeg2 standard of 720P (16:9) I usually use. When I put...say...a 640 x 480 clip or still on the timeline there seems to be no tool to change their sizes with (that I have found so far). There are 8 squares that sometimes show up on the image, which allow me to resize, but when finished and I go to do something else, the image just pops back to it's original size. So I must be missing something here.
The second main problem I'm presently having is capturing video...which the program won't do. At present, I am capturing analog video through a USB device. When I try to capture, I get an error message telling me that the capture plug-in is already in use, or is missing, or so on. I have discovered on the web that this problem is very common! Why? I have never had a video capture setup on this particular computer before, so there's nothing on it to interfere with X6. So should I assume that the capture plug-in is not included with the trial? Can this plug-in be downloaded by itself?
I lost a psd due to a hydro shut off and it won`t open. I do though have a version of it at 800 pixels at 150dpi. Can I or is there any way to make that a 300/600 dpi clear like the origional psd?
I'm trying to make an image 879X593 px into a banner about 950 x 130 px. Is this possible to do this in Photoshop without causing the image to stretch or distort the items inside it? Are there other options even in Fireworks?
Just got a new HD video camera, Sony HDR-CX550V. Recorded short video clips and imported these clips (format AVCHD) to my computer using VS Pro X3. The imported clips have small icons or symbols in the top left corner. What do these symbols represent ? Where can I find descriptions of these symbols ?
I'm relatively new to using illustrator and im trying to change the dpi of a drawing. One of my frinds made a T-shirt design in a non adobe software program, forget it know, and accidentally draw it at a 100 dpi file and looks blured when changed to a 185x185 pixel size. Can I take that file and change it to 300 dpi?
Go to effects> Document Raster Effects> and select dpi quality
I've already done that and it doesn't look like it did anything. Does it need to be redrawn?
I created a logo in ai cs5 that is the size of 7w x 4h. But I wanted to be able to create a larger jpg. Since the vector format allows for the image to be scaled, is there a way to scale it larger, then create a jpg at this larger size? Or, is there a way to scale it to 500% and then save it as a new file with this enlarged size being 100%? I'm fairly new to AI, but have used PS for quite some time.
I need to print large photos on a small printer and then mount them together on a large board, but no matter how I do it I seem to get either overlap of gaps between the printed photos. I found a good way to mount the photos so the edges of the paper are not too visible (from a distance), but I can still see gaps and overlays. The Photo image has a width of 24 in by 33 in. I'm trying to print it on nine (9) 8X11 papers.
I have a photo that I copied from an Power Point Presentation which looked great on Power Point but when I have it in PS I noticed that the image size is just 2.507x1.028 with a res. of 576. Pixel Dimensions are 2.45M
I would like to print out a larger version of this photo but I'm not having much luck with it. It gets blurry when I try to enlarge it.
It was on Power Point as PNG graphic and I saved it to the desktop as a Gif andthen dragged it into PS.
Don't know much about Power Point maybe there is a better way to transfer pics from it.
I have a lot of engineering data, dimensions, etc, to enter into an existing IDCS6 Table. I need whole numbers to display full size, but fractions to be small size. I know I can use Open Type and select the Fractions option for each individual fraction, but that would take forever.
How do I create a style (or whatever) that will allow me to just type in the numbers and have them automatically apply small formatting to the fraction portion of the number whenever it sees a "/"?
Along a similar line, I was trying to copy table data from a PDF document from Acrobat X Pro and paste that into an IDCS6 table, so each cell is populated by the appropriate cell data from the PDF file, but didn't have any success. That would really save me a lot of time, because I have many complete tables in PDF format. The data is not protected in the PDF, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to bring it over to IDCS6.
I'm using Photoshop CS6 to assemble and export a series of extremely high-res tiles. Long story short, they will be used to make up a large map in a mobile app.
I have a pretty tight deadline and I've just been stopped in my tracks by an error I get when I try to scale them up.
Each tile is a layered PSB file, 16384 x 16384px at 72dpi, about 2-3GB in size. All I want to do is scale them up to double their size - 32768 x 32768px.
When I try to do this, I receive the error, 'Could not complete the Image Size command because the result would be too big'.
What exactly does this mean in terms of size (filesize or pixel dims)? What's the problem?
Since I'm working in PSB format and I'm resizing within the bounds of the 300,000px limit, I don't understand why I'm not permitted to scale up to 32768px.
I need to preserve the layers as Smart Objects in order to upscale them... so no flattening.
All I can think of is splitting the files into smaller tiles (I currently have 28 tiles to upscale).
I have drawn an assembly of parts and now wish to line up the small hole in the large shell to the projecting pipe,i thought it would be a simple task of using mates (insert aligned) but this does not let me pick on the boundary of the small hole.
I am working in Photoshop CS 6 - I like to use the application frame option but it makes the frame too large and does not allow me to resize. How can I reduce the size?
I work at an architectural company and I need to resize a lot of images in our database. We’re talking about roughly 40.000 images, but that is not the hurdle.Previously I have made an action that resizes my images in two steps, because I need them in two different qualities When I open the image and runs the action, it does something like this:
Convert mode: Convert to RGBSave: As JPEG, quality 10, and in a certain folderImage size: width 800px, constrain proportionsSave: As JPEG, quality 8, and in another folderClose Now I want to make a change to that action, by resizing the image two times instead of one.I want it to look something like this:
Convert mode: Convert to RGBImage size: width 4000px, constrain proportions (BUT ONLY IF THE IMAGE SIZE IS LARGE ENOUGH, OTHERWISE LEAVE IT AS IT IS)Save: As JPEG, quality 10, and in a certain folderImage size: width 800px, constrain proportionsSave: As JPEG, quality 8, and in another folderClose
How can I do this? Do I need to add a variable or?
I've recently started trying to learn how to use GIMP through making signatures, and for the past 2 weeks or so, it has been going fine.
Today, when attempting to resize the large image down to signature size, even though the preview shows a good quality render, after it scales the image loses all quality. Whats more, thinking it might just be a poor image, I tried to resize previously succesful images and got the same bad result.
Here are some screenshots showing pre / post scale [URL]...
Preview there is fine, and shows a good quality render (exactly what I'm looking for)
[URL]...
This is the result
I understand that the aspect box is unticked, but even with that selected the image became distorted
I have also tried cubic / Sinc, both resulting in blurry picture.
The most frustrating thing is that the preview shows that the picture can be made that small and retain it's quality, and up until now this has not been an issue.
I'm using PS Elements 11, I have a large # of pictures to resize (over 500). Is there any way to resize a large # at one time? Doing one at a time takes up a lot of time, I was thinking if I can do 20-50 at I time.
I want to create a flat image of the tattoo around my wrist. It seems as soon as i place a photo in Photoshop I cant do anything like that with it. I tried using different layers to place the different photos in, but when I crop one, it crops the entire image.
We have a computer that using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and Acrobat 9 Standard. When printing a large sheet (30"x42") with images in it to a PDF the images do not appear in the newly created PDF. However, if the same file is printed to fit an 11x17 the images display correctly. Any thoughts as to why the large sheet size is not printing properly?
I have been learning about Textures and I've been playing around with different ones and so I have come across a great site with lots of Texture files for download ...
[URL]......
Well, the files are small eg: 38x38 and 76x76 and how to create a larger image with these small images. Also, they are in .png format... if that matters.
From what I've read a Texture is a Pattern ... right? So, I have searched the FAQ's, the Manual etc. for things like: How to make a large Pattern, How to use a small file for a large Pattern and so forth but I can't find the right info.
Am I suppose to use them to create a Repeating Pattern? Can I do this and have them be seamless?
All of a sudden my Videostudio X4 will not play any clip for longer then a second or two. When you play a clip or the project it plays for 1 or 2 seconds and stops just like you hit the stop or pause button. Click play again and it does the same thing. Makes it really impossible to edit. It had been working great up until last week. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still have the same problem. I have excluded my anti virus from scanning the Corel folder.
So I drag and drop a bunch of video files into the timeline and want to mute them all in one easy step. It would seem that all you would need to do it right click and mute while they are still all selected from the import but the mute setting isn't active. meaning I have to mute each clip separately. That takes a LONG time.
Have just started working on VS and discovered a strange issue. I can put a piece of video in the clip window to mark in/out points and it plays fine. When I drag it to the timeline and play as a clip, there is no audio!
I have ONE large 1hr AVI file captured from a DV camcorder. I have used Corel Videostudio to "split by scene", and that works fine, all clips are cpatured. BUT the shooting date for the clips are shown as the same date and time for all clips.
Where can I see the actual shooting date for each clip? I tried to use the old Win Movice maker on a WinXP machine, and here it works fine.
In corel VS I also tried to take one clip in the middle of the file and used the shared function to create an DV AVI file. This file I imported to VideoStudio - and now the date and time for this single clip is right. Unfortunately if I a convert all clips into one single file again I still have the problem.
