VideoStudio :: Get No Sound For Screen Capture Using System Audio

In Video Studio 5 Ultimate, I am trying to use Screen Capture on an application that plays music and has a window with an animation showing the chord progression as it plays. When I try to capture it using Voice as the Audio Settings, it works but the sound is low quality. I assume the reason is that it is recording the microphone listening to the speakers. If I use System Audio as the Audio Settings, then there is no sound in the captured video. I have verified this using Windows Media Player on the clip as well as in Video Studio 5. The sound _is_ coming out of the speakers, and the video part is OK. There _is_ a stereo sound track in the .wmv file that is created, but it is silent.
I get the same result trying to capture Windows Media Player playing a video clip that has sound. It captures the window and the video successfully, but there is no sound. On the other hand, I am able to capture the sound using other programs, such as Freecorder. Thus there is likely nothing wrong with my setup or drivers (and it can be done).
This is on Windows 7, 64-bit. I do not get any message saying System Audio is not available, as I have seen in other posts.

In any case, when I try to enable System Audio in the screen capture setup, I get an error message saying that it can't find any system audio.
System audio is working fine on my system, and neither Camtasia, CamStudio nor two other screen capture applications that I use have any problem with this whatsoever.

I downloaded the trial version of VS X5 in hopes that I could consolidate programs. I have and use Camtasia Studio for screen capture and have no problems other than it's expensive and much more than I need. I was hoping X5 would be the program that consolidated screen capture and video editing at a very reasonable price.
The problem I'm having is when I use screen capture to record a downloaded video (as an example) I get no sound. I have no problem when I use the screen record function set to capture sound over the mic (voice). If I record the same video with Camtasia Studio I have no sound problem.
I've been trying to solve this off and on for over two weeks. It would seem that if Camtaisa Studio has no problems Video Studio X5 shouldn't either.

Now starting to use X5 and found that the "Screen Capture", which is so handy, has audio problem when I capture a person speaking, such as an instructional video. It says it won't record audio if you have Windows XP. So I improvised by using my mic, holding it close to my speaker. Only, the recorded speaking is out of sync with the captured persons lips moving. Regarding this, may I recommend and hope that Corel will do what Pinnacle has done long ago for syncing sound with video... when it's not in sync as in Screen Capture. True, In Corel's Pro X5 I can split audio from video, which sends it to the narration track, which is NOT always available. But in Pinnacle, in their video track on the timeline, I was able to lock the "audio wave form" in the video track, as well as lock and unlock the video track separately. So I was able to unlock the audio in the video track and move only the audio, left or right, until it synced with the video. It made things so much more easy then trying this when the video audio is in the narration track.

I just wondered if there's a way to get Video Studio 11.5 to capture video from your PC screen?
I ask because I've been trying to find a free program to do this (not having any money for stuff like Camtasia) when I remembered that I had Ulead Video Studio 11.5 - and I hoped that could do this instead.
Can it? If it can, can it also record audio at the same time? (I have a headset with Microphone)

I make gaming Youtube videos, and recently bought a new computer and needed a new recording software. So I started looking into Video Studio. I am currently using the trial, but will really soon get the full version. So I was gonna record and noticed you can change what audio will be recorded. Cool! So I enabled both of them, but it doesn't work. If I enable System Audio, microphone audio will be disabled, and vice-versa.
Is there any way I can record my game AND my voice without recording the my voice afterwards (I wanna record it live)? I quickly tried to record two video at the same time, each recording having a different audio, but it just recorded one. I don't wanna have to buy $37 Fraps or some other "just-for-recording" software.

I'm running VSP X5 Ultimate with SP1 on a Toshiba i7, 8GB RAM and plenty of HD free space. When using the Screen Capture function and, in Settings, switching to system audio, I get a message that no system audio is detected and that I should enable this on my computer. I'm assuming that "system audio" is the feed to the speakers (both of which are working perfectly) and I've been over everything in both Control Panel>Sound and Control Panel>Realtek (not much there) and can find nothing which would "enable system audio". I've never been able to record with the system audio. I searched the VSP forum with multiple iterations of the problem with no luck.
How can I get system audio working in the screen capture?

I'm using Corel Video Studio Pro x4 to make a promotional video for an upcoming event, and I used the split audio function to, surprise, separate the audio. Here's the problem: It has no sound. When I play it as a clip, it works fine. But if I play the project as a whole or add any kind of filter to it, it is mute. I've tried saving the project and opening it in a media player, still nothing. My music track and video track play fine, but the split audio does not.

I am editing a video and have added some music in overlay track 1. Easy to do was to have the music come out of the front left and right speakers and the captured video audio to come out of the centre speaker. Is it possible in Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 to assign the audio track to a specific speaker or do I need some other s/w to do that?

I downloaded the trial version of VideoStudio 4 Pro to try it out and I like the interface and the ease of use. My problem is that when I capture MPEG 4 files in the timeline and go to replay them, the sound and video are very choppy and the replay skips the whole way through.
I converted the MPEG 4 files to wmv, and the video was smooth but I lost some of the image clarity in the converting process. I don't think it's my computer because the MPEG 4 files play nicely on MediaPlayer - just not on VideoStudio.

VS11+,Firefox,XP Home.I have imported a WAV file from my hard drive ,it is 705bps and 99.7 kb, it plays in Windows Media Player but there is no sound when played in the music track.Initially I raised the vol to 200(it was to play with a file in the other sound track) as I could not hear it.It played once.Then, VS "encountered a prob and had to close" and the file has remained silent ever since.The wav file still plays in WMP.

I'm still struggling with getting this long ago purchased and registered version working properly on my XP Media Edition, installed on an 4 year old Toshiba laptop with an external NAS hard drive. (Additional future system details to be provided as is necessary.)
I had no problems with the previous version 10 on this system, or version 11 on another system, but the X2 version has been a long outstanding headache in attempting to reach a working status. I'd be more than willing to again upgrade, but only if I had assurances that I wouldn't have to reset the clock. My editing needs are very basic, so additional enhancements offer no benefit beyond bug fixes and patches.
Corel's technical support eventually resolved one frustrating X2 operational problem in setting up a separate VSP user profile with all working files, not just the program files, needing to reside on the local drive, not the NAS. (That's something that should be documented properly somewhere, if not already in this forum as I extensively searched at that time for a reference and found none.)
My current problem is that audio coming out on burned DVD's is very faint. The input is occurring with a .mpg video file and it's enclosed audio voice track.
I have tried the volume control without success, plus the mute function. The problem is that the sound level is not muted, just very faint as to be almost unheard even when played back on the DVD player at maximum volume.
I have tried extracting that .mpg audio track in VSP, saving it in both .mpa and .wav formats, then reinserting into the time line, but the result is the same. It's still very faint. However, if I use one of the sample .mpa audio files found in VSP it burns through to a DVD in the normal manner. This works, even when accompanied by the video audio which still comes out so faintly.
The volume level plays normally in VSP and VLC from the raw file, as well as from the burned DVD. It's when the burned DVD is placed in a regular DVD player that the problem shows up. I've used the same input file source for editing and burning in VS 10 and 11 with no similar problems.
I've searched the web, this bulletin board and consulted with a movie editing professional before posting this message. I'll be continuing my exploratory approaches, first with another entirely video input source and also with another DVD player, plus anything else that comes to mind but my options are becoming limited.

After staying away from video editing for some time I have just installed VS X5. But here I can't find the Audio View in which I could adjust the sound volume (using the graph) in the video track. Has it gone away or is it just that I can't find it?
Does this mean that I have to split the audio from the video to be able to adjust the volume (up and down at various places, not just the track volume).

I have been trying to capture both Video and Audio in Video Studio Pro X4. I have a program called Diamond One-Touch Video Capture V500 that uses a USB connection for the Video and Stereo output from my Sony Handycam Digital 8 Model DCR-TRV740. The one touch software works well to capture both the Video and Audio, however, I was hoping when I purchased the Corel Video Studio Pro X4, that I would be able to record both video and audio with the capture feature, since V500 Video shows under sources in the capture screen.why the Video Studio will not record the audio while the One Touch Video program will?

im trying to capture in VS x4 but i only get audio. no video is coming up on my capture screen but if i record, the recording will show video... video just wont show up in the capture screen inside VS x4.. i read where people couldnt see video if they were trying to capture DV and some were told to get windv or someother program to get the video but im not trying to capture dv.. im trying to capture video with my tv capture card, avertv hybrid volar max.. it captures the audio thru the vd x4 capture screen but not the video although if i do a recording both audio and video will play in the mpg.. why cant i see the video in the capture screen?

I'm trying to capture video from a VHS/DVD machine using an EasyCap (2.0 I think). I'm able to get video but it's pulling the audio from my computer's mic. I investigated settings and found that 1) the format resets to MPEG if I set it on DVD and 2) when I go into Options > Video and Audio Capture... and select the only option in the drop-down for Audio device that says USB, the program crashed. I opened it back up and saw that it was still set on USB for the Audio device, but when testing I didn't get the video's audio. I'm new to capturing video this way, am I missing something? I double checked that the cables are plugged in correctly.

I used the Screen recording feature to record a little tutorial that is about 4 minutes long. I was shocked, when I watched it afterward, to hear that the sound, although fine at the start, gradually becomes fainter, higher pitch, and overall totally unusable. I thought it was just a fluke but I tried it with 3 videos, and I always get the same problem. I used the settings by default, changing only the file name and location.
Is there more to set for the screen capture to work correctly?

I am an experienced user of X4 who needs to upgrade due to needing screen capture features. X5 download trial Install went fine, X5 works well on everything so far except the feature I need. I have disabled UAC, Run all programs as an admin. My system, while old, is capable enough. I use Win 7 64.
When using screen capture it will not capture system audio. I tested the mic and audio while in screen capture "settings" and while the mic works and records, X5 throws a "system audio not found" prompt when clicking on the system audio check. Again, microphone works fine.
Outside of X5, I checked and tested sys audio and it is working. In fact I tried a screen capture with Fraps and it records game audio and voice fine. In fact, while using the screen capture setting I can hear both the mic and voice perfectly.

I have a new issue with screen capture in VS pro x6. When I try to capture the sound from my computer i.e. a clip on (you tube) when I hit the record button (the red circle) I get this message:
it counts 3-2-1 then…at 1 (Prepare Record Failed!!! #15)
However it works fine if I disable it… when I record my voice when it is screen recording, no problem.
Also, when I try to record a game play, full screen, it stops once I launch the game, a message says that my screen capture is complete without me hitting the stop capture button!!
My computer is running win 7 Prem. Service pack 1 64 bit 12 GB RAM Intel core i7 @ 3.40 GHz

Setup: Designer Pro 7 on win 7 (64bit)
Trying to use the builtin screen capture tools under Utilities/Screen capture.
There appears to be no way to do a selected capture or partial selection of parts of a window. Instead we have:
Full screen []
active window []
content of active window [x]
So I selected the last one above as shown `Content of Active Window'
But what I actually get is a mini version of the entire Designer pro 7 application Including the menus, borders, and all that guff that no one usually wants in a capture of part of the full screen.
So what does `Content of active window' mean as apposed to `Active window'?
Its really unbelievable that there is no provision like `Region' found in most screen grab tools where you select with the mouse what you want captured.
Maybe I'm just missing how to use this thing, but have included the result of what a `content of active window' does. Its a mini version of the entire application...

I have been playing around with the screen capture fature of X5 Pro Ultimate and I am having problems.
When I set the capture to custom and then drag the frame/window or whatever you call it around the section I want to capture it always captures too high and then cuts off bottom. If I capture in full screen is there a crop feature?
The things I want to capture have a window within the full page and I am trying to capture just the window, ie. a Youtube or any other web based video. the dragghing custom isn't working and I see not crop option.
