Revit :: Ignore Unresolved References And Continue Opening File
May 15, 2012Is there an option in Revit to automatically ignore unresolved references and continue opening the file without showing the dialog box?
View 4 RepliesIs there an option in Revit to automatically ignore unresolved references and continue opening the file without showing the dialog box?
View 4 RepliesI was working on some work files, and generally a box comes up saying that there are unresolved references and asking what to do. Usually I hit the x and everything works fine, but this time i accidentally clicked the checkbox to automatically ignore unresolved x references and now certain files will not load the references even though the path is correct and the files are there. I was wondering how to undo this check box. I imagine it has to be a variable or setting somewhere.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have unchecked resolve file references, etc, and still basically spends 5 minutes looking for files i told it not to look for. Why doesnt it just open the assembly or drawing, without waiting for ever?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are several drawings that when I try to open I get a popup message "References - Unresolved Reference Files". The message box is clear with only the border and the description in the blue bar at the top of the message box. AutoCad LT 2011 locks up and I have to do a Task kill. The same drawing can be opened by most of our other users, but some experience the same issue. When AutoCad is restarted, I get a "Drawing Recovery" empty/clear popup message message freezing AutoCad AGAIN, requireing another Task kill. I have to open a 3rd time, and if I had another drawing open, it's gone and doesn't appear to be recoverable.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf an assembly contains unresolved file references, when I try to open it Inventor allows me to try and resolve this with the Resolve Link dialog. But if I choose to skip all for whatever reason, once I've opened the assembly there's no easy way for me to see which sub-assembly/assemblies contain the missing reference. I have to expand folders, patterns, assemblies, etc. until I find the one with the little question mark next to it. I prefer to work with unresolved links in this way sometimes because it just makes more sense working with the model than a bunch of file paths and file names in the Resolve Link dialog. But it's nearly impossible with large assemblies where the unresolved links may be burried deep.
Is there a way to list or somehow see which assemblies contain the unresolved links once I've already opened an assembly?
I am looking to batch convert my IDWs to AutoCad DWGs without having to go through and manually open each file and save as etc. Right now I am using the export files task to do this. I have saved an *.ini file with all the settings I want and successfully create the task. After running the task it fails to convert all the files giving me an error message that says "File has unresolved references". This shouldn't be the case though because the IDW's open and reference the part/assembly files fine.

I have a file that looks like it is going to open nice and fast and then it gets stuck at 50% synchronizing references. It literally takes over 5 minutes for the file to come completely up and ready to work on.
In the file I have an existing ground surface data reference and two corridors (with alignments, profiles and profiles views) that are basic access roads roughly 1200' long each with a very basic assembly. I also have a pipe network data referenced that is just a bunch of pipes that represent existing utilities crossing the access road so I can show them in cross sections. The final thing I have in here are 50' cross sections for each of these access roads.
why does it take me 5+ minutes to get into this file?
I have a work set file which cannot open. A dialog box with 'Circular Chain of References' appears. When I expand the dialog box, the option to delete the errors are grayed out. They are issues to do with a floor plan, including a filled region and detail lines.
I have been working on this file everyday, so it's been saved and opened constantly, yet even the backed up files from over a week ago have the same error message. Even file which are detached from the central.
I always "Configure Default Template" on start-up, changing Measurement Units to mm and Drawing Standard to ISO. After Ok,
"the default template (standard.*) will be replaced according to your selected drawing standard or measurement unit. The original default template will be copied to Old Templates folder as backup. Do you want to overwrite?" Yes.
I have created a series of parts which i have assembled and saved on my USB. I have placed fasteners from Content Center and saved. When i change computer, and attempt to reopen my assembly files, i get a "Resolve Link" window, as seen in attachment, to which i don't know how to respond, and end up clicking "skip all", which results in assembly with unresolved components.
What are the steps i should have been taking to avoid ending up with unresolved components, assuming i cannot avoid changing computer.
When I open up multiple assemblies at the same time Inventor cant find some of the part files, even though they are on my system. Many times if the part is in an assembly more than once, some of the instances will be there and only one or two instances will be "unresolved", of the exact same part. I can open each assembly one at a time and it will be fine, but that can be time assuming. I wasn’t able to find any other threads with a similar problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI exported a Bim model (IFC format) from Butler Advantage XP. When I open the IFC in Revit it says that it can't create blend and can't regenerate family. When I continue, by deleting the elements, the model is without the roof on the building. Is there a way to prevent this from happening before I export it from the other program, or a way to fix it once I import it into Revit?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOften as a sole user of Revit when I open a project I have been working on I get the following message:
"This file is already open for editing by another user. You will be unable to save any changes before that user closes the file."
Since I am the only one working on the project there are no other users and as far as I can tell no other files open. Any insight into what has triggered this message?
my laptop has been stolen and I had to buy a new PC...The new one is a windows 8, therfore, I had to install revit 2014....the problem is that I have been working on a graduate class project using revit 2012, and now revit 2014 will not open the files I built on revit 2012...I have only 10 days to rebuild what I have been working on for 3 months!!!...is there any way to open a revit 2012 on 2014 or at least convert it to work on 2014.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this file that won't open in AutoCAD Architecture 2012, well let me rephrase that, it won't finish opening. It has 4 or 5 xref's attached. I was able to open this same file using 2010. Through process of elimination I was able to determine that a file that was exported from Revit MEP 2012 was the problem. When that file was detached the drawing would open just fine. To make things more interesting, I am able to open the Revit Export file just fine using 2012. What diabolical combination of event has happened to cause this SNAFU.

I was wondering is there is a way to select an Inventor part file and see which assembly file or files that is is currently used in ? It would be extremely useful to be able to see a list of all the assembly files which are using one particular part so when modifying the part you would know which assemblies would change.

Dim modelSpace As BlockTableRecord = DirectCast(M_trans.GetObject(SymbolUtilityServices.GetBlockModelSpaceId(db), OpenMode.ForRead), BlockTableRecord)
For Each id As ObjectId In modelSpace
Dim ent As Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Entity = DirectCast(M_trans.GetObject(id, OpenMode.ForWrite), Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Entity)
ent.Color = Color.FromColorIndex(ColorMethod.ByLayer, 256)

If TypeOf ent Is BlockReference Then
Dim br As BlockReference = DirectCast(ent, BlockReference)
Dim btr As BlockTableRecord = DirectCast(M_trans.GetObject(br.BlockTableRecord, OpenMode.ForRead), BlockTableRecord)

I have a data shortcut file where i keep my EG surface that now has File Name.dwg [DS] [DS] [DS] [DS]. What's the deal? Has this managed to morph itself into something it's not. It used to have only one, had two for awhile, and now 4 references to the DS (Datashort cut project folder).
Have I done something wrong here to get these wonky file names, would be nice to see just 1 reference being made to my DS Project folder.
I created this little building with a pitched roof. at the 1st level I had no problems putting in openings for windows and doors, but now i created the roof and I want to put in window at front and back of the building and the window shows only up when I hold the cursor over it. what step am i missing? At one point i also got the message "rectangular opening does not cut its host"

I have an assembly that has a component that has not only been deleted from this assembly, but has been removed from the vault. When I try to select a similar file on my local, just to get through this I get the followong error message and this cycle keeps going in circles. Wanting me to point to where this deleted file is.
This assembly remains unresolved and as a result of that I cannot check it into the vault.
Another frustrating things about his is in the dialog window that wants you to select a different file, there is no option to either select from the CC or the vault. Why?
I just hope the only solution is not to recreate this assembly. Because this is a subassembly used in upper level assemblies. Speaking of which those upper lever assemblies wont check into the vault either because of this issue.
