I'm working in an office building project, where we have existing building,s ome of existing the walls are going to be demolished and some are staying, siding finishing will be replaced by stucco, how do I demolish only the siding layer and replace it with stucco ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis house was going to have woven shingle corners. Of course Revit can't really do that. It appears that materials are prety much like wall paper so they look pertty fake up close. NIce for sketchy stuff and "common" presentations. 3dsMax can punch up that wall paper but still in a close rendering or animation it's going to look pretty cheezy. After exhausting all searches for a very real looking siding material or texture. I came up with the clever idea of using a reveal to "press" a siding pattern into my outer finish layer. (This would save me the laborious task of modeling the siding and remodeling it every time I need to move something.)
It started to work and I got excited, I exlaimed, "good job autodesk! I can finally at long last, put 3 dimensional siding on a project!" Then things got weird. For some reason when it's applied to SOME walls it won't join with the adjacent wall, AND it unjoins my walls in plan.
I'm trying to render a residential project, I can't seem to find shake and shingle siding materials ( cedar impression) . I need to start rendering this project as soon as possible.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a texture or find a texture that I could use in my web design that looks like real stucco. I need to be able to change the color to a beige / tan or anything I want, that's why I'm thinking about going down the route of making it myself.
I tried a clouds difference / noise effect but couldn't quite get that "real" look, came out like a pixelated image and not the result I wanted.
I need to find all instances, references, etc, of a layer and change it to another layer. I'm not talking about lines and objects or even blocks, but more like properties nested inside of wall styles and cleanup definitions, anything like that. I can't use the QSELECT or any similar command because the layer in question is being referenced inside of individual styles (i'm guessing that's the only place).
We drew our interior walls and our exterior shell for our building on two different drawings so that two people could work on them at the same time. They were xref'd into each other. We got to a point where we needed to put them back into one drawing so I binded the Shell Xref into the interior drawing. This saved us a lot of time but now all the layers from the Shell drawing have this prefix to it "01Shell&0&". This isn't really a problem but I'm a bit OCD and it bothers me to have two different layers for the same thing, one regular and one with the prefix. It means everytime we change the properties of a layer, we have to do it twice. I've already changed everything I could back to the original layers but the Shell layers still show up from time to time. They are nested deep inside of wall styles and custom cleanup properties, custom encaps, and so on.

Is possible to do so without having to go one by one and replacing the color?
I keep trying to save a gif animation with one frame per layer but that is not working!! it still is combining all the layers in the animation even though I tell it one frame per layer!

There is an excellent script available for Photoshop which allows you to not only replace words in layer names, but also insert words as Prefixes, Suffixes and Sequential Numbers. The illustrator version of this script only allows sequential numbering: It doesn't offer find and replacing of words.
Ideally, it would be great if there was something that could do multiple find and replaces in one go:
(E.g.
You have layers like this Car, Dog, Bat
You enter: car(Option1), dog(Option2), Bat(Option3)
Your layers then become: Option1, Option2, Option3).

Large PS file (CS6 and CC) half a dozen texture layers using low res images. Several have blend modes, transparency and even masks. I now have the same images in high res. I want to replace just the image, but not lose my blend/transparency, or masks.
Do I bring in the high res layer, copy the mask over etc? Then delete the original?
I am using this script to find and replace words in layers. (The script only targets particualr words, rather than the whole layer name).
I would like to make it so it targets selected layers only.
I have found this script which loops through selected layers only, but I am not sure how to add the find and replace layer name functioality.
I am trying to create a hatch for board and bat siding. There are parallel lines at 1.5" apart that repeat every 8". When I try to use the hatch I get the following message:

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a csv file that has 6 columns, PNEZD and a 6th column which is my notes..i type a star in the data collector after my code, make my note, and then find/replace after i export it and replace star with a column..that gives the desired 6th column in excel that my boss wants....problem is he also wants to see that next to the Full Description in Civil 3d 2012...i tried adding a Point File Format with a 6th Column, User Defined, String for type...named the column Notes...but if i go to edit the point there is no 6th column in the Tool Palette.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a way in the DWG export layer dialog to change the layers like the "existing" and "demo" to a prefix, instead of a suffix.
Currently, for existing phases, when i export to DWG, let's say the topography, is said to be SITE-TOPO-EXIS, but I want to make it EX-SITE-TOPO.
It is set up as "-EXIS" which will add EXIS to all the layers in the existing phase towards the end.
If i changed it to "EX-" that just adds EX- at the end of the layer name in the phase.
Anyway so i can put that in the beginning of all the layer name for the phase?
I don't want to go into AutoCAD and use the _RENAME command if there is a lot of file to change.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe build our models in Sketchup. Export a 3d DWG and import that into Revit 2014 (through Conceptual mass). That way we can export sections etc from Revit.
The problem is that Revit sees the 3D DWG as a Mass, and therefore don export the layers we want to AutoCad.
Is there a way to "explode" the 3D DWG in Revit so it gets divided in to the layers we had before it was transformed into a Mass. So the layers follows the DWG export to Autocad?
For one particular project the client need the colour and layer name in autocad in a specific way. We edited the load layer standard in rivet and exported to CAD. it worked, but we couldnt find the edited file so as to use them in other workstation.

As the wall wraps do not work on the soffit (only on reveals), I have used a sweep to match the wall plaster thickness to provide a finish.
Is it possible to report the host wall finish material and have it assigned to this sweep automatically ? I have tried to add a finish layer to the host wall in the family - but have not been able to find a way of extracting the material value for this layer.
For the moment I have left it as an Instance property for manual correction - but automated would be great.
Selection layer edges of a particular wall,
It is really exhaustive when it comes to select an edge of a layer of a wall. For example, if we need to align a column in the wall in the correct space, we need to select the corresponding edge of layer of the wall (indicated in the screenshots below). It really takes time just to select this edge (hovering + TAB).

I have created a .txt file for locating the Revit elements on the correct layers when converting to .dwg files. The problem is the new layers created in AutoCAD during the conversion include a "3D" prefix which we then have to go in and manually eliminate. Is there any way to avoid this, it totally disagrees with the client's naming standards?

I have found that if I Rasterize a Layer Effect that I can add a "double" effect on the same layer but I haven't tried the to do this with separate layers. However, for most of the work I am doing I cannot use the Raster because everything needs to be true vectors.

In the Replace Color dialog I can select the "source color" but I can't specify the "destination color" except by dragging the Hue slider.
I'd like to be able to specify the "destination color" I want in more detail, like selecting it from a pallette, inputting RGB/HSB values etc.
How could I do that?
I'm trying to use the Image -> Replace Color tool in photoshop cs5 to replace one color in a jpg with another from the same image.It wont let me. The new color has to be from the palate apparently??
