I'm trying to create a new local file but the option is greyed out (not available). We're using Revit Server 2013 and we have one Central Server and two Accelerators in different locations. This issue is affecting only one of the two locations.
I am trying to create a custom pattern by editing the PAT file but I can't seam to get it right The pattern is for a ceiling tile in which the pattern is 4 tiles (24''x96) follow by 1 Tile (4''x96)
We have just installed a new server at work. We have transfered all of our Revit files to the server and resaved them as central files. We cannot seem to create more than one local file per Revit file even though we have already set up the file as a worksharing file. The one that sets up the Revit file is the only one that can create the local file. For the other user the create local file tab is grayed out.
I have a Revit file with over 1,000 materials and associated appearance assets. It was created in a previous version of Revit before library support. What I want to do is create libraries from them. However, the only instructions to add them one at a time using dragging and dropping. That will take me days to do. Is there a way to simply create an asset or material library out of multiple materials from a project file at one time without having to individually select them?
I see that keyboard shortcuts in revit 2013 can be eported as xml and imported back from an xml? Is it possible to export the shorcut list as a simple txt file or excel file, for printing purpose. Some of the bim modellers in my office would like to print the shorcut and stick it on their desk.
I added a FILE PATH label on my titleblock but when I load it to my project file it does not show. Why it does not show, I added a new lable for CLIENT NAME it showed fine. Just to test it out I changed the lable of the second one to FILE PATH and the first one that I did to CLIENT NAME. When I loaded it to my project, the second label dissappeared and the first lable now shows.
I am trying to show all the wall scones and light fixtures in my rcp plan, but i don't want to show any door or wall openings, i just want the walls to show up as solid/hatched fills.
I'm trying to input the price for the number of fixtures in my schedule. I added "count" in the fields. However, when I try to create a calculated value, I dont see "count" to be inputted into the formula. Why wouldnt "count" be listed for the formula??
I started with an arch and structural revit file. I linked them and made a schedule and will be doing timeliner. How should I show the excavation phase? should I design this in Revit or another program? Can I get some guidelines to going about designing an excavation to add to the linked files and input in schedule?
I am using Revit Architecture 2012 and I am trying to create a Room Tag. I have attached the file below. I want the tag to read the room name and the room dimensions. Then I would like an option to turn "Unfinished" on and off. I can get this to work as long as it is a type parameter. When I load it into the project it works well and everything is there. But if I change it to an instance parameter (which is what I want) then when I load it into the project the option to turn the "Unfinished" on and off has disappeared.
I am attempting to create a model of a building for export to the IES Virtual Environment software package for analysis, but am having some difficulties when trying to do so. I am being given error messages that state;
'Revit was unable to identify any rooms. If you are sure that rooms have been created in the project, check the Project Phase setting to verify that the Project Phase matches the phase in which rooms have been defined in your project.''Analytical Top Projection Plane is partially or completely below Analytical Bottom Projection Plane. Please reset top and/or bottom planes to valid values.
I am having some issues in exporting a Revit 2013 file to gbXML file. I have already followed the instruction steps about how to do the gbXML export in Revit 2013 given by the Offical Revit website.
When I go to Edit Shared Parameters and then the create button I get an error message "The Shared Parameter file was not saved successfully". I am stuck at this point and cannot go any further. What is causing the problem and how can I work around this. I am using Revit Architecture 2011.
I am new to Revit and a long-time Autocad Architecture user. I was wondering how to create (or if one exists) a door with a sidelight. The door is a hollow-metal door and frame with a glass panel sidelight that will be hosted in a wall.
Not too sure if this is a curtainwall family or something else...
I am trying to create wall by faces of a Mass I modelled.
This is the Mass: [URL]
Everytime I try to create a wall by face of one exactly face, it accept Location Line: By Finish Face Interior only, when I try to change ANY other Location Line, it gives me a message error.
[URL]
And it is always from the SAME FACE highlighted at the picture.
The mass was made by the floors and top edges. I select all of the edges and create a mass from down to top.
All the other faces are ok and they accept the wall by face and let them change the Location Line except this one.
I originally created a slab with the full version of Autodesk Revit 2013 with POINTS to create a slope to the slab. There does not seem to be a way to edit those points with Autodesk Revit LT. There appears to be an alternate method in the LT version to create slopes utilizing slope arrows. So is SLOPE EDITING no longer a feature with LT?
I want to create a library of details. Many of these details are things like ADA Requirement Information and things that may or may not be in each project. So, lets say i have 100 details and 10 to 20 are used in every project, while the remainder depends on Code requirement. How should I store these? Should I make a family for every detail? Is there a way to import just a Drafting View into a project, so that I can create all of my details in 1 project file?
I am trying to create a custom detail line, if possible?
Is there any way to create a custom detail line which will be a dashed line (similar to Hidden) as well as containing arrows every "X" feet or inches. i am attaching an image that is what i would like to create so i don't draw from scratch.
I would like for it to function as a line, spline, shape, whatever the needs may be.
I have included a picture of the roof I am working on. As you can see I have 2 different roofs set up here, which doesnt look very good. I was wondering if there is a way to create one roof with 2 different slopes like I have here? I would like it to start out at a 3/12 slope for the first 4 feet and then switch to a 6/12 for the rest of the roof. I have not been able to figure out how to get this to work.
Is there a way to create a custom fascia in Revit Architecture 2012? I am trying to create a 3/4" thick metal panel on 3-5/8" metal stud that is 2'-6" tall.
I am trying to create a void form in revit architecture, i am following the quick start tutorial from the design academy website and when I try to make a void form i get an error, pics to explain:
I need to create some sun study animations, showing the movement of shadows in a courtyard over the course of the day. My in-house revit guru says we can't run animations using cloud render and need to come up with a work-around. I've got Studio Max Design, but I find Mental Ray to be nitpicky and less accurate than cloud rendering.
I'm trying to create a simple 8x2 extrusion that will represent an aluminum band on a building elevation. The length varies by instance but needs to be reportable in a schedule (preferably using the "Length" shared parameter name.
I've never used reporting parameters before but have made an attempt at it in the attached file. The parameter of Length displays the stretched length in the properties box but won't appear in a schedule. The Instance Length parameter will appear in a schedule but doesn't always show the correct value.
I'll note that this family was adapted from one already created by someone else and the Length label cannot be deleted. It's as if the file was at one time a template. However, I've tried it from scratch, too and can't get it to work, sometimes not even being able to get the family to allow stretching the length.
I'd like to create a 3D view of an element to be able to use in different projects. The best logical way I can think of would be to create such element in a project just for that purpose, create 3D views with annotation and then somehow import only those 3D views to the project i'm working on...
I think it can't be done this way but it shows what I want to achieve.
What's the best way to reuse a 3D detail with annotations?
I have a stair that along one side of the sloping part is a window. I have 2 railings along this stair, 1 is a chair rail, the other is a wainscot panel. Obviously the chair rail and wainscot cannot be built to cover the window.
How can the railings be "cut" around the window?
I know how to start/stop the chair rail, but the wainscot needs to continue under the window (keeping in mind that the window is horizontal and the wainscot is sloping with the stair.)
