Revit :: Create New Parameter Under Identity Data
Feb 28, 2014How to create a parameter field to include the MasterFormat data using 'txt' file similar to Assembly code parameter already built into revit families. I don't want to use the Keynote field for this purpose. I am looking for a ways to create a new parameter under the Identity Data.

Feb 7, 2013I works as a lighting designerand I just purchased Revit LT in order to meet some 3D-project managment requirements. I find the lighting fixture families to be very useful and simple to work with but I need some way to identify the fixture types used in the project without acctually clicking each fixture when in plan view. In Autocad 2D i create an text attribute which I block together with my 2D-symbol, is there any way to do a similar action in Revit? I tried to group my 3D-symbol with a text, but that dident work out to good when moving and copying the symbols.
I imagine al types of diciplines would need a similar action to keep track of what is drawn?
Revit :: Predefine Room Names With Identity Data
Oct 23, 2012I do a lot of cookie cutter type buildings with pretty much the same room names and finishes for each building. Is it possible to predefine the room names with the identity data (to incl. base finish, floor finish, occupancy etc) in my template file and then just select this as I place the rooms?
I have tried creating the room with the identity data but all I can do is select the room. The predefined identity data does not translate to the new room number.
For example:
I create a room called 'Room Test 1' with a base finish, ceiling finish, floor finish and wall finish. I then go to place a room on the drawing. I can select 'Room Test 1' but all it does is add another 'Room Test 1' with a different room number and no identity data.
Revit :: Project Parameters For Mass Identity Data
Feb 25, 2014 Is this a Revit Hard Code issue or am I overlooking something? I have created some In-Place Masses (with floor mass for each level) and I have created 2 Project Parameters for for the Mass Schedule. Parameters are Block and Sub Block as Text under Identity Data and in the Mass Category. When the Mass Heading is ticked all mass categories are ticked. So Im thinking, it should not matter what type of Mas schedule I setup. The Parameters should be available in the fields.
The Schedule is created as a Mass Schedule. and the Parameters show up in the field and data is populated as I expect.
I want to create a Mass Floor Schedule and the parameters are not showing up in the fields list. Also I can not Add Parameters from the Schedule dialogue window as those Parameters has already been created. When I select the Mass Floor in a 3D view the Identity Data fields in the Properties window are mostly greyed out. The Project Parameters do not appear as Identity Data fields and the Edit Type is greyed out (not that Edit Type maters but it adds to the thinking process)
Revit :: Parameter Group Not Sticking?
Feb 19, 2014I have set 2 parameters in the Family Editor so they 'Group Under' Dimensions, yet when I load into a project (that the family object has been deleted out of via the Project Browser), I find instead they are Grouped under 'Other'.
One of the offending objects attached.
I've done this 2 ways, once by opening within Revit the Family Editor, making the change and then loading back into the file, only to find nothing has changed, and also then by again opening up in the family editor from Revit to find ditto; and separately by opening up the file directly in Explorer and then loading into the open project.
Not an enormous problem, just annoying as I want to group Dimensions parameters naturally enough under Dimensions!

May 3, 2013I have an issue with a view. I am unable to select my model groups with in a specific view. When I go to select a group all that is selected is an item in that group, not the entire group. There must be a setting that is turned off, as other views I can grab entire groups. Currently I have to open a 3-D view and select the group I wish to edit or change, instead of being able to select that same group on the 5th floor of my building. ( I can select the same group on the 4th floor, but I don't see any diference between the two floors?)

Jul 9, 2011Is there an easy way that I am missing to create lines around a group? For example, when I want a rectangle with rounded corners on only one side, I usually just make 2 separate rectangles, one with rounded corners, one square, then group them together. However, when you put a line around it it also makes a lines where the two meet each other. I have always worked around it by adding another square rectangle between the 2 with no lines, to cover up the lines. Am I missing something obvious?

I found a means to access the unnamed group, however I am having trouble creating the list.

What I want to do is to remove a certain entity from the GROUP, then delete the entity.
Repeat until all entities of that type are removed (I can figure this part out...).
How do I create a Selection Set (or LIST) of all entities inside a GROUP?

May 13, 2012When doing this for a pdf or slideshow, the text I enter is at 1/2 way point down of the little white box. how to get a new line of text. I hit enter and that just closes the window.
