Revit :: How To Calculate Volume Of Concrete To Pour A Cast In Place Spiral Stair
Dec 3, 2013if this is easy, but how do I calculate the volume of concrete needed to pour a cast-in-place spiral stair?

View 1 RepliesI use all the time L shape and U shape winder stairs in combination with the Monolithic Type.
We use to concrete the monolithic part of the stairs and then dress the stairs with treads and risers. The new tool looks that working very nice.
So OK I draw the U shape winder stair and of course i want to construct the stairs.
I want to prepape a detail plan view with dimensions only for the Monolithic Part (Concrete) of the stair but i can't find a way to dispay only the monolithic part without Treads and Riser. It is possible in 3d view but no in plan view. The news tool that calculate winder stairs is "half job done" if i can't print with dimension the concrete part of the winder stairs.
Having a surface, and then applying a building pad, how can i discover the volume of excavation?

How do i make a spiral stair stringer in 3d? what commands do i use?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am once again trying to get the hang of drawing a 3D spiral staircase and cannot seem to figure out the SWEEP command properly. I have a channel, or a rectangular tube shape which I want to use for the stringers. If I use a round tube, like when I do the handrail, there is no trouble. But when I use a channel or rectangular tube shape the SWEEP command causes the shape to bank and I end up with an unuseable shape.
In the attached drawing (ACAD-2007 format) I have shown a SPLINE which indicates the path I want the outside stringer to follow.
I have been asked to do volume calculations using Civil 3D for some concrete piles for a oil/survey company. I have done volume calculations for site and land development projects but nothing to do with concrete piles before. It also appears I am the only person with any Civil 3D back ground in the office. I did mention my experience with Civil 3D was limited but I was trying to expand it by looking for Civil 3D jobs and working through the 2012 Mastering AutoCAD Civil 3D book.
I am assuming doing volume calculations for concrete piles is quite different from doing volume calculations for grading plans. The company has been primary using AutoCAD Maps and doesn't have much set up for AutoCAD Civil 3D yet.
calculate the volume.I attached here my dwg file. I never done this before and I want to know the correct answer when I want my land to be levelled at 6m.How much volume to fill and the land to be removed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to calculate muck away for work, and I have drawn the site plan in millimetres for accuracy. However when I try to calculate the volume I get this value: 3.6293E+12. I am guessing that it is saying this due to the fact its in millimetres, and I am trying to calculate a large area and convert in into metres squared. What this value means?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've draw a blue spiral surface and I got to place text along this black hub line, so it should look as text is printed on blue spiral (perspective and all).I had an idea to outline text, narrow it on one end (to achive perspective) and make pattern brush. But it's pretty hard to tweak path to look realistic (somewhere text is wide and somewhere is narrow, and looks messy).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a set of 8 coordinates that outline a pit. I have been asked to calculate it's volume. I have input the coordinates, and have produced a 3D image of the pit. I was hoping to be able to convert the object (the pit) that I have created to a solid, so I could then determine the volume, although it is proving to be difficult.
how I could calculate the volume of this pit?
I use Civil 3D 2011 and I am new to it. I have created a natural ground surface from survey points. Now i want to create a finished surface with a specific slope in a specific direction at a specific elevation and then to calculate cut and fill volume.
I can create a flat surface at a specific elevation. How to tilt this surface to a specific slope along a specific direction.
At my job site, they is about 20meter height of uneven rock surface in the excavation pit.
To calculate the volume ,I need to include this uneven rock surface wall.
For doing so,The sharp edge will displays in the cross section.
Because the uneven surface, I cannot create the surface with normal step. The TIn line will joins horizontally, not in vertical direction as is intended.

In the attached i have the new "Component" stair next to the old style "By Sketch" stair, the sketch stair shows the cut pattern the component one does not, this is the same section view not two sections.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a request from on of our users to replicate something that has been done for years in 2D CAD. They want a marker to show changes in floor levels that look something like this:-
The annotation needs to be able to read the slab on either side of the step marker and hopefully if possible the difference be represented as text. The datum levels are secondary and it is really the depth of the step that seems to be more important. I do however want to avoid these being just dumb text as if/when the design evolves someone will forget to modify the text.
Here is an example of a few showing two steps in the slab and the results we would want.
I have tried loading/nesting a standard spot level in thinking if I had two in an annotation that this might work, but I was unable to even place a spot marker within the family which makes some sense I suppose.
Is this even technically possible...? I realize the origin usually determines what hosts the family and how, but I guess we are looking for something with a double origin, which is why I think this may not be possible...?
What's the best way to create tilt up concrete panels? In the screen grab bellow, I used an extrusion, gave it concrete material, and left a 10mm gap between each panel to create that illusion.
Can this be done as a wall, if so how do I add those gaps/voids?
Is there any way to replicate this skin of solid glass spheres hardened into concrete in the form of a panel of some sort?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking to create an irregular concrete slab, with barrel vaulted ceilings on a small radial section of a circular slab, and a a parabolically curved upper section to the slab, and a large punched hole in the middle of the slab. To this point, I have been able to achieve this using multiple components and masses, but I was wondering if there was a way to make a single object with a single solid material that may be able to achieve the same effect. I have attached a section for ease of explanation.
