Apr 15, 2013Is there any way to replicate this skin of solid glass spheres hardened into concrete in the form of a panel of some sort?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a request from on of our users to replicate something that has been done for years in 2D CAD. They want a marker to show changes in floor levels that look something like this:-
The annotation needs to be able to read the slab on either side of the step marker and hopefully if possible the difference be represented as text. The datum levels are secondary and it is really the depth of the step that seems to be more important. I do however want to avoid these being just dumb text as if/when the design evolves someone will forget to modify the text.
Here is an example of a few showing two steps in the slab and the results we would want.
I have tried loading/nesting a standard spot level in thinking if I had two in an annotation that this might work, but I was unable to even place a spot marker within the family which makes some sense I suppose.
Is this even technically possible...? I realize the origin usually determines what hosts the family and how, but I guess we are looking for something with a double origin, which is why I think this may not be possible...?
What's the best way to create tilt up concrete panels? In the screen grab bellow, I used an extrusion, gave it concrete material, and left a 10mm gap between each panel to create that illusion.
Can this be done as a wall, if so how do I add those gaps/voids?
How do I insert, or what Family do I insert Concrete Unit Masonry? I have CMU piers for my foundation.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking to create an irregular concrete slab, with barrel vaulted ceilings on a small radial section of a circular slab, and a a parabolically curved upper section to the slab, and a large punched hole in the middle of the slab. To this point, I have been able to achieve this using multiple components and masses, but I was wondering if there was a way to make a single object with a single solid material that may be able to achieve the same effect. I have attached a section for ease of explanation.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use all the time L shape and U shape winder stairs in combination with the Monolithic Type.
We use to concrete the monolithic part of the stairs and then dress the stairs with treads and risers. The new tool looks that working very nice.
So OK I draw the U shape winder stair and of course i want to construct the stairs.
I want to prepape a detail plan view with dimensions only for the Monolithic Part (Concrete) of the stair but i can't find a way to dispay only the monolithic part without Treads and Riser. It is possible in 3d view but no in plan view. The news tool that calculate winder stairs is "half job done" if i can't print with dimension the concrete part of the winder stairs.
I'm trying to build a wall that has the concrete block pattern that's offset by 1/2. If I build a wall using mass then I can make it into a pattern that I want but then I can't paint it so that's it's clear or see through. On the other hand if I build a wall just using the walls then I can't find an option for the block pattern.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a ball valve that looks like the following:
To get the filled in portion, I created a detail family with a fill. All appears to be well, until I load the family into a project. Then the detail dissappears. The lines remain, but the filled ball is gone. This happens when I am looking from the floor plan view.
If I look at the valve from an elevation, rotating it to see it properly, the filled ball is back.
If I change the family type from Pipe Accessoies to something else, for example, Duct Accessories, the filled ball appears as it should.
Is there a reason that Pipe Fittings and Pipe Accessories do not show detail components in plan views?
I'm using Revit 2014 and I've attached my valve family.
I'm trying to create an adaptive family (a concrete bleacher/bench) that mitres to its adjoining instances when placed in a project (see attached images).
The family is not acting as I intend it to when loaded into the project (bottom right image). I've created six adaptive points which are intended to correspond to refeence points in the project.
I think the problem has to do with the faces of the extrusion, they don't seem to be able to align to an angled reference plane. How the extrusion can expand/contract in a linear fashion and have ends that mitre adaptively?
I am trying to align the curtain wall with the edge of the concrete slab/face of wood framed wall (Core). I have tried to align and move however the whole wall moves as well as the edge of the slab. How I can move the Curtain wall leaving the other elements in place?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this railing with glass baluster. The glass baluster panel is 2'-0" in length. The railing is not on a 2'-0" modular length so the last panel extends past the corner of the railing. I can set the baluster placement to be centered on the railing which gives me a panel at each end that is extended past the corner. I understand this is normal based on my what I am asking Revit to. My question is, how can I get the 24" glass panels centered on the railing length but have the two end panels automatically adjust in lenght to make up the difference and not be 2'-0"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a staircase balustrade in glass but which needs to follow the curved edge of the stair. The stair has 3 straight flights with two sections of curved winders.
I've tried using a glass balustrade family but this doesn't seem to work as the size of the panels prevent it following the curve. A similar problem exists at the edge of the floor where the balustrade needs to follow the curved edge of the floor. The handrail element of the balustrade works fine.
Can you make a glass, which is transparency also in elevation views? In 3D views it is transparency and you can adjust it too, but not in elevation view? Is it so?
You can only hide it totally or let it be non transparency?
See illustration what I mean.
I can't load any glass curtain doors from seek or revitcity. They won't load as a component or door.
I can't place a door into a storefront wall. I get this error saying something like,"cutting surface doesn't not work" I tried to adjust the mullions so that the door would fit, but it still doesn't work.
Can I demension the interior side of a wall when the wall justification is centerline?
Is there a way to calculate the roof load in revit?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a glass roof structure over a staircase (see attached image - underground roof). I thought that I would do this by creating an in place mass, then adding either a roof or probably more likely a curtain wall system to the faces. However I am struggling to create the mass. I have made a wireframe of the roof (wireframe) using lines where the roof folds are, in autocad. I have then linked this in to Revit.
When I come to creating the Mass, I can only place lines using the "Pick line tool", which then only places lines on a specific reference plane (level 1,2 etc), so I only get a 2d footprint of the area I want to create this mass.
If I try to create a mass face using the 3d snapping tickbox, Revit fails to register that there are any lines for me to snap too. I have tried to "Tab", but this doesn't work either.
I am producing a infill on a shop and I have used curtain walls. See photo below.
I am not sure what would be the best way to do this would you make a mass or in place model.
I am not sure the name of the system but it is like insulation panels or like blinds.
I have created a double skin curtain panel family but it cannot be applied to non-rectangular panels. How to create the non-rectangular double skin facade?
