What is the best way to add a floor level to a space where it does not interfere with how the building looks in section and elevation.
Everytime I add a floor and go to the section the walls are above the floor.
How do I show high level walkways and balconies (in dashed outline) on the ground floor plan in a high volume space?
Obviously I can turn the first floor RCP on in the view and manually draw the information, but I assume these lines won't move if the walkways above move (or am I wrong?). Also this seems slightly wrong given the amount of automation available.
My template don't have Floor Plan and Level.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a floor joist/subfloor/finish floor system where the joists are hung from the sill inside the foundation wall, this means that the joists stop at the wall but the subfloor will continue over the sill plate and the finish floor will stop at the inside edge of the bottom wall plate. As near as I can figure, in order to get this to show correctly in section I really need to create the complete floor assembly by stacking 3 separate floor sub-assemblies (framing, sub-floor, finish floor) is this correct? (this is the method I'm currently using) Is there a way to manipulate the sub-components in section that I haven't found?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a model and i created a new level as normal, propogated extents etc but when i created as section North to South (Vertical) in the model the level does not show. When i create a section from East to west (horizontal) then the level appears fine. I've tried creating many sections and this is always the case. If i select a level in the section and click on select all instances in entire project the number includes the additional level but i can't see it. It is not hidden in the view, not on a different workset or anything unusual...

1) How do I keep a section line from showing up in two different elevations:....have a section line in east elev.....it shows up in same spot in west elev.....but the view is the east elev....only want to see section line in east elev?

I just want to create a section from the point cloud, but the point cloud won't allow me to select it as an object in the 'Generate 2D/3D section' dialogue as it's not a solid/surface.
On an unrelated note, I find snapping to the point cloud impossible - is there an option in OSNAP that I'm missing? I've tried this with attached PCGs and RCP point clouds, no difference.

How come i cant see the changes to the 2d section after adding objects to the model. I have refreshed the section and have also change to a different 2d style, however if i create a new section, i am able to see the changes on this new section but not on the old one. Is there any switch to this.

in( solid works there is a direct option select the section and select the face and click on the calculate automatically gives the are and movement of inertia etc in part and sassy level also) but in inventor in part level its possible but in an assembly level.
Attached is a pdf showing the issue I'm having with the way elevations labels appear on the outside edges of cross sections.
Issue #1:
I added the dimension to show that the bottom of the cross section is actually at 97.5 but is labeled as 98
Issue #2:
I would prefer the bottom of the cross section to be at an even elevation (98 not 97.5)
Can I use AEC Dimension in a Section/Elevation View in ACA? So, when an Wall height changes, the AEC will change too after refresh the section/elevation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created the super elevation to my road as you can see on the attached picture, but I can't see the super elevation on my section view.

I have duplicated many floors now in the Revit program and applied the same material to them and no matter what I end up with a duplicate area for that material in the floor material schedule takeoff.
Steps taken to correct this so far are:
1. Technical support @ Autodesk suggested that I uncheck the wrap part in the floor edit. The floor already has it unchecked and furthermore the wrap part is greyed out.
2. I have used parts and I guess that I can do this for it works. it is just that I would like to do floors because I don't have to spend time dividing them for a simple material takeoff.
I just want to be able to apply a material to a floor and have that floor shedule the area of that material only ONCE!
The issue is cutting an opening in an existing floor so that in only shows in a new phase.I have created a floor based generic family with an opening tool and added an edge liner as a sweep. It hosts onto the floor and cuts it OK (in section and 3D). BUT in plan view objects below dont show through - see blue dashed on the screen clip. You will see that the red dotted opening>vertical cut show the stair below OK. Have a go (floor opening lined.rfa) and tell me why the opening is opaque!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported a scanned drawing into Revit and traced it. I put the walls and floors in, then was inserting doors. I tried to find a particular door, but found I clicked on the wrong door and closed Revit instead of the screen I was in. However, when I brought Revit back up, I could no longer see any Floorplan, but my 3d was still visible. How do I retrieve or make visible Level 1 or 2? (When I tile the Floorplan Level 1 and the 3D drawing, my 3d drawing will turn blue if I box in the blank area on my Floorplan screen, so I assume it must still be there).
The other question I need answered is how to insert the geometric figure/camera that shows each side of an elevation? When I imported my scanned drawing, it was much larger than the area within the four “eyeballs”, but I have tried moving it and don’t see them.
I have a file that I have applied different floor finishes to different rooms based on flooring patterns and hatches - they are not visible in the floor plans . Funny thing is if I make a seperate room outside the project in the same view and assign it flooring patterns - it does show up all the floor finishes. The only reason I can think of is phases. I have attached images for reference.
