There is a revit structures extention that allows integration with civil 3d, but the revit architecture extention doesn't seem to have this. mis there any way to bring in a complete civil 3d model (including corridor profiles etc.) into revit architecture?

First, it says to change to '2012' so I do that, and then when I click them again under the 2012 setting it says to go back to using '2010'!!
I want to incorporate a rigged character along with a rigged bike, so that when the bike runs or jumps through a rough terrain, the character will react to it dynamically. The character should be able to move as per the bike's movement, as would happen in real life.The character should react to the suspension of the bike.

I am a stand alone user and my current task needs a sea bed surface for placing our plants in my Inventor model so that the boss can have a 'realistic view on the site. Nothing fancy, just a surface. Since I am a mechanical draftsman and have no previous experience with GIS data, so I turned to my local software supplier. It went all “OK’ until the last step: bringing the surface file (see 59905_1) to Inventor (see 59905_5). It seems the importing is successful, just no surface shown. Here is what we have done:
Use Autocad civil 3d to create a surface from GIS data.Save the surface file to Autocad 2007 format.Import it to inventor 2012. I have to say the site area is about 1000m x 200m in measurement.

I wrote a lisp to import data from Libreoffice spread sheet to ACAD but I could not update this spread sheet by outputs from ACAD.
I was wondering whether one could proceed as follow. Say, you want to make a vector mask of a given image, part of a photograph. One could of course use the built-in vector features of Photoshop (pen tool, vector shapes tool) to create the vector outlines used for the mask. But, it is possible to export the image in Illustrator, use all of the Illustrator vector tools to create the vector outline, and then import those vector outlines back into Photoshop, at the *exact* same place as they were in Illustrator (relative to the image being traced/masked).
I know how to go back and forth between Illustrator and Photoshop, but I don't know how to ensure that the vector paths (from Illustrator) and image (from Photoshop) keep their relative positions between the programs.
I downloaded the trial of PSPx4 and sadly enough the trial does not include Nik's Color Efex Pro 3 (CEP3). What I would like to see, is if the CEP3 window actually fills the screen, or if it is smaller and the user unable to "maximize" it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Civil 3D 2011 and 2012 but soon making the jump to 2013.In my project I want to able to present a 3D-object from Civil 3D 2011 to Navisworks, eg the body of a road. I am doing this currently with the add-on program from Autodesk Labs named Corridor Solids. The several different 3D-objects that represent the different layers of the road body needs to have a certain set of parameters. For instance, Name, Dimensions, Material and so forth.
Currently, the only thing that I can present in Navisworks is the layer name that I associate to that object when I export it from Civil 3D with Corridor Solids.Is there a way, in vanilla Civil 3D or perhaps an add-on program that I can use to associate more parameters to a solid?
I have created some surfaces in Civil 3D ...the client wants to render them with Revit but isn't able to. Any way to make my surfaces compatible with Revit ? I'll admit, I don't know which version he is using.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are currently designing a Highways project which includes a cut and cover Tunnel (dual 3 lane through goes underneath a signalized at grade junction). Navisworks will be used for clash detection of all disciplines. To clarify the cut and cover structure will be similar to a large box culvert. Although new to the software; the Highways team will be undertaking the Civil Highways design in Civil 3D.
My question is - what is the best Autodesk solution for the structure and associated retaining walls? Note at this stage we are unsure what all of the design components will be (e.g. pump room for drainage etc). Previously the Structures team would have produced a 2D design (however 3D modeling is a requirement).
I have seen on the internet Civil 3D and Revit Structures being used interactively (although it appeared to be incorporating bridges only). Is Civil 3D able to affectively model this structure and retaining walls within the subassembly composer? Or is the question more to do with how the Structures team will complete their design (i.e. reinforcement detailing / scheduling etc).
I was wondering is it possible to create a surface from a Revit model ? There are retaining walls etc in the revit model !

The image correctly appears in the sheet, and even in the "preview" window while exporting to DWF. However, the DWF file does not show the image. Is this a hidden export setting or a view setting in Design Review?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a project involving 3 programs. I am creating a planned development in 3d to be 3d printed when finished. The project is a 5 acre tract containing 8 buildings. I have built the surface in C3D and each building in Revit. The buildings are not in the same Revit file. For my solid work, I will bring the files over into 3ds Max Design to section into smaller quadrants to build in the 3d printer.
The questions:
Would it be better to import the surface into Revit to merge surface and buildings together?
Would it be better to import the buildings into C3D to merge entities?
Would it be better to bring those entities into 3ds Max and then merge them into one? Will 3ds Max Design allow me to insert entities accurately in the environment?
I imported Google earth surface (at eye alt 600m) to civil 3d 2012 and created an alignment of length 181m.
When I exported same alignment to Google earth , it showed the length as 190m ( the difference increases with increase in length of alignment) And also the profile view of the alignment in the Civil D & Google earth varies.
I want to create a Layer Filter that excludes both Civil Layers and Xrefs.
I have created one that excludes Civil objects (Excel Civil.jpg) but when I add a filter for excluding xrefs as well the Civil objects appear in the filter again indeed all the layers are included again (Excel Xref.jpg) if I invert the filter nothing is displayed.
I am trying to work on a previous file in my office, and when it opens on mycomputer, it does not display as it should.
In general, the purpose of the project is to reinstate the side slopes of a road abutting a river. Cut & fill sections have been generated on 20m station increments along the road corridor/surfaces in order to calulate cut and fill as well as to reference the design to flood levels.
When I open the file, all of these sections (and there are alot) have relocated themselves to various locations in model space, none of which are aligned with the viewports that are being used for printing.
Could it be software and/or hardware incompatibility with the computer they were originally created on? (I believe it was created with C3D 2010, or C3D 2011 - I am currently running 2012)
Just curious as to whether people use much colour in their production drawings, particularly for hatches...?
Working for Local Government, we tend to utilise colour hatches to show all kinds of information.
Generally, we have found that colour hatches are a good way to clearly show different areas and materials such as pavements, paths, landscape areas etc. Hatches can then be used to quickly ascertain areas for estimation and our construction team like them too as the plans tend to be easier to read.
The usual arguments about reproduction of plans and slowing down of computers doesn't seem to be an issue for us. Most photocopiers are in colour now anyway and we just make sure that even in black & white the plans are readable.
The way that Civil 3D deals with hatching doesn't seem to slow things down for us either.
Currently using Civil 3D 2013 & 2014 SP1
Right now, the only way I know of being able to see Civil grading objects (surface contours, spot elevations, slopes, etc) while using plain vanilla AutoCAD is to explode everything and export to a lower version.
I'm trying out a trial of AutoCAD 2013 to test things, and my Civil drawing shows up as boxes/text when xrefed into another drawing without doing the task above.
I'm looking for a more efficient way to see grading using AutoCAD (not Civil). Civil is expensive, and I'd like to downgrade the drafters who don't know how to use the Civil functions (and never will), but still need grading to show as a dynamic xref in the background of the drawings they're working on. Problem is, if I have to explode and export my drawing every time I want to update the grading xref in their drawing, it wastes more time than I'd like.
Is this the only way and I have to live with it, or am is there an easier way that I haven't dug up yet? I know I'm not an expert at Civil, so I may be going about this all wrong.
I've created a room schedule in my template. Now while I was working on a project in that template, I couldn't add a new row. If I want to add rows, I have to create a new schedule and add rows in there and then it works.

I want to make my windows so they are quick and easy to create new ones without having to add in new information like if the glass is tempered or if its an egress window. I would like to set up formulas for these. I am stuck at my egress window parameter. I have included an image of what I am working on and the calculations and formulas I have so far. I would like to have my egress check box to say yes if the Opening Width is greater then 20", the opening height is greater then 24" and the opening sf is greater then 5.7 Sf. How would I set this parameter up?
