I am trying to render using the recessed can lights and they light my rendering but the lights themselves don't look line they are emitting light. It looks odd. I have the same problem with some of my 2x4 fixtures where light does show on the floor but the lights themselves don't seem to be on.

I have a lot of concrete walls that have been cut and shaped in many ways. When I do the show hidden lines command I am unable to show edges of the same object that hides them.

I noticed that on the first floor plan, this roof slab shows as dashed lines. How is this done? I tried copying/duplicating this roof, but dashed lines do not show.
I am using Revit 2014. My temporary dimensions do not show. When they do, they only show on one side. I have gone to Manage>Additional Settings>Temporary Dimensions, and tried the different options. It is making it very difficult to place things right now. Is there an all on button I can push? I have also tried closing and re-opening the file, turning off the computer, etc. They were available for use yesterday morning and have not worked since.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Revit sections, we can add split segment in plan.
How can we show the Horizontal sections in sectional view and how can we split the horizontal section such that the drop is vertical.
I know that one workaround to show vertical drop is to use plan region on the Horizontal Plan View. But is there a better way? If not is autodesk looking forward to incorporate this in further releases?
I have created new levels e.g T.O.F. & T.O.G. but they will not show up under the existing Floor Plans section in the Browser. All I get is a new section Titled: ???! How do I get these new levels to show with the rest of my levels under the floor plans category. Using Revit Ultimate 2014.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to show dimensions for window in plan , instead of default hexagon (number)
For example 60" x 48"
I just created a simple winodw family. I don't understand it looks fine in the reference level within the family.
But once I placed it in the project, it only shows the top mullion, I had to delete the top mullion within the family to make the plan view look right. What's the reason of it?
I'm new to Revit and could understand the explanation of how to show a door as open in the 3d view. How I can show my 3d doors as open. Also I am using Revit Building 9.1.

What's the reason of it? I know you can enter the dimension directly into the schedule. But it would be nice if it comes it automatically. See attached file.
I have one room on a plan whose color fill will not appear, while all of the others do. I have tried deleting the room and adding a new one to no avail.

Is there an option in Revit Architecture to make the room tag show up on multi lines if its more than one word? This option is available on Autocad Architecture
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently looking into switching from Vectorworks to Revit due to a job application I'm being offered. What I really want to know is if the following floor plan is possible to make in Revit. I just want floor plans to be with color to better show the different things on it and make them more clear.
I also want to know if it is possible to show symbols in a plan view other than just a rendered hidden line view of the 3D part of it, so I can have a simplified version for the plan view and a detailed object for the 3D. Like you have a 2D-plan component for the plan views and e 3D component for all other views.
Somehow today all the doors and cased openings dissapeared in my first floor plan.
They show up in the 3d views, sections, and second floor plan, but not in the first. I have checked the visibilty settings, and they are all checked and correct, and I have checked the height of my floor cut, which is adequately at 4 feet high. Additionally, if I make the detail level "fine" then the casings will show up around the wall but the wall will not show the door cut. The doors show up in a previous version of the model, so I'm not sure what has happened to cause the dissapearance.
Is there any way to show my detail views in my elevations?
In autocad we use a little line with the detail number, but I can't find anything like that in revit. I've attached an example.
I've created custom railing terminations and applied them to a handrail. They appear in every view extept plan. Railing extensions show fine. Railing Terminations don't. I am including screenshots & the families. Visibility is on for all views and all detail levels. Linetype is set to solid in Object Styles and VG. View Range is fine. Cut plane is way above the railing and bottom is unlimited.
The weird thing is that the extenstions appear in blue when the railing is selected. But they dissappear otherwise.
How do you set the view range to show a window with a sill height of 5'-0" and a dog door with a head height of 2' in the same wall on a floor plan view?

View 2 Replies View Related1) Why structural columns don't show up in architectural plans. The only way I can see to coordinate the structure with the architectural elements is to use structural plans.
2) How to make structural columns visible in architectural plans? I've tried the visibility graphics but everything seems to be turned on by default.
Is there any way to turn on the information ,which can be obtained from schedules, on properties palette? For example, the length for the structural columns can be seen on the schedule created. However, it is not seen on the properties palette. How can I show that information on properties palette under dimensions?

I’m wondering if there is a way to show the sequential number on the steps of stair.
Also, we are all the time required to write the number of stairs, run length and rise length on the drawing. Is this possible in the Revit?

I need to show an individual stud kicker down a corridor. The kicker needs to kick at a 45 degree angle from the front of a soffit to the wall. The width of the soffit is variable. The kicker length needs to chang and get longer along a 45 dgree angle.
I want to be able to 1) set the soffit width or 2) set the soffit width with a type parameter.
I have a reference locked to the back side of the kicker. Attached a parameter dimension
When you grip that reference line to the back it will extend the kicker along the plane the way I want. However, when I go to insert the kicker, and I change the dimension in the properties window, nothing happens. It just is inserted in the size I created.
That's ok. So I was going to create 1'-0" increment sized kickers. Assigning a soffit depth for each one. However than it gives me a constraint error.
