Premiere Pro :: Moving Files And Getting An Error After Using Locate
Apr 16, 2014
I often move files over to external drives to recover space. If I go to a project and get files missing, I then use locate to find the files but when I clcik on the located file I get a file not supported error though it is the same file.
I have to make a couple of changes to a piece I edited 2 months ago on Premiere CC. When I open the file premiere lists out several clips that it says are missing. I've hit "locate" but nothing comes up.
I can repeatedly reproduce an error when moving files into folders within LR4.2.My current folder structure is setup like:
F:picturesYEARFolder nameSub folder
When I'm moving files from "Folder name" to "Sub folder" I will be moving approx 6 - 20 photos at a time when sorting them into sub folders. After a while of moving files, LR will stop allowing you to move files and will show up the O symbol with a line through it. Until you close and re-open LR will it allow you to start moving photos again.
I've had this happen 3 times on me now and is completely reproducible. As above, move a small amount of files from a parent folder into a child folder repeatedly and eventually it will refuse to move any more photos until you restart LR.
I am reorganizing my file structure in LR4. I can move jpegs from one folder to another but I get an error message when I try to move the NEF files. I saw another discussion that mentioned that Lightroom has a problem moving NEF files. I don't have a large collection yet (less than 10,000 images) but I have made extensive edits on many of the shots so I don't want to import them from scratch again.
moving my LR files to an external hard drive without the dreaded question mark or missing files message. I thought it would be easy.........I must be doing something wrong. I want to move some 30,000 photo files to external and work off external in the future. I purchased a Lacie 4 TB hard drive.
I get the following message almost, but not every, time that I start Photoshop.
b This application has failed to start because vfzcore.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I have tried reinstalling Photoshop. But this does not help. I often also get a windows error after photoshop is closed saying that it did not shut down properly.
I suspect that the vfzcore.dll error is due to some 3rd party plug-in. But does anyone have any ideas? These error do not appear to affect the performance of photoshop that I can tell. Everything that I use works fine and it never bombs off (except after closing the program out). But having to hit "OK" at the error dialog every time the program starts up is annoying.
I have been getting an error message when trying to start Gimp. It says that libgmodule -2.0-0.dll is missing and that reinstalling Gimp might solve this problem. I have uninstalled then reinstalled Gimp two times and still keep getting this error and I'm not sure what is causing it to occur.
Is there any way that I can quickly locate which files have been exported from LR? I often have to work 2 or 3 sets, and will need to wait for approval from different art directors, product managers, etc. sometimes for days, and I often find myself wondering which was the photo I sent to them- the differences are often very minimal, and by the time they get back to me, I've forgotten them anyway. I know I can flag them, rate them, etc. and obviously I can look at the file in photoshop ( where it has been exported to) but I really would like to know if there is a quick telltale that I can spot in LR.
i just noticed that i have some images, jpg and tiff, which are shown to have SIDECAR FILES in the EXFIPTC metadata display.
These files have many dates, some more than 20 years old and shot on film and scanned on nikon slide scanner. Actually, the images in question were NEVER raw files..
i do not remember how i may have done this. i have used LR from the beginning and so i am certain that at some time i checked the wrong box.
i cannot seem to find those which have sidecar files by searching, even using ANY FILTER plug-in (although i am not certain i have used it correctly).
Can i find these sidecar files? perhaps there will be some clue as to why they are there.
i have added a sentence noting that these files were never raw files.
During importing specifically "Moving" a selection of pictures from one location on internal drive to another location on internal drive, after I tagged the pictures with keywords, Lightroom crashed.
Now when I go to Previous import the pictures are not found. Neither are the files in the location I move them to. When I do a search for the images with the keywords I tagged those images with, I can't locate them. I don't see them in the Trash either.
Now, I have no idea where those images are. This is very bad. I guess I'll have to use Finder to move the images first then "Add" them to Lightroom afterwards. It's a good thing I was paying attention when I did the import.
Auto save, in my opinion, is a pain, so I have removed the tick from the box and hope never to see it again.
Are these temporary files? Or are they saved to an unknown location to build up into a every increasing file. I have inspected the X5 folders and files, but can't locate where these files end up.
I need to modify a curtain wall mullion profile and a plumbing fixture for a model created by another firm. I see the family (e.g Rectangular Mullion) on the project browser window, but I cannot locate the actual rfa file.
For the the Plumbing fixture, I can click on the fixture, and select "edit family", but it saves a new family instead of telling me where the orginal rfa is located.
Obviously, since the model is from another firm, the rfa file is not located on the server where our firm typically stores family files. It's not on the C:// Program Data/ Autodesk/ RAC2011/ Imperial Library...
Move my audio track (along with my video) down the timeline a bit and have the (audio) keyframes move with it.
What I'm doing exactly is:
- Select the Timeline Panel and Ctrl A (Select All) - Then, click on my mouse on the selected area and drag/move the media down the timeline a bit - All media moves fine BUT, the keyframes in my audio track A2 does not move
The video keyframes I have move just fine.
The audio on A2 is currently checked as Track Keyframes. I tried selecting Clip Keyframes, but no difference when moved; the keyframes stay at the same original place.
Is it even possible to do what I need to achieve ... or do I have to redo my keyframes manually as Clip Keyframes?
I want to locate video files using a smart collection, then delete the file there... is that possible? Or would that only delete it from the smart collection?
I'm looking for a way to edit a video like how you would edit a photo in photoshop as I would like to only move one side of the video (As in the left or right) and not both of them as im trying to line it up behind a photo.
I have recently moved my photo files to a different harddrive from their original location. Some of these images had been included in "collections" prior to the move. Now, when I open a "collection", the photo files are no longer associated with the collection. How do I reassign a location to these files in these collections?
I have already reassigned the photo files in the catalog to their new harddrive location.
I'm trying to stabilize some footage, but Warp Stabilizer in Premiere Pro CC seems to want to stabilize moving objects in the foreground rather than the background, creating strange effects as you can imagine.
I have seen tutorials on using Warp Stabilizer in After Effects and masking the foreground action to make Warp Stabilizer use the background as it's inputs. Is there a way to do this in Premiere Pro or even something easier (that AE method seems convoluted and some work to do).
The playhead is 2 frames away from the end of a clip. With "snap to" enabled, the clip can be moved to Snap to the edge of the playhead. OR other nearby clip edges. OR go way past the playhead and drop overtop of the clip I am trying to make it Snap to. It's like PPro has a blind spot near the playhead. Feels like trying to teach someone to drive, but they can only use the pedals by mashing them to the ground or not at all.
I do not understand why it wouldn't just keep snapping from playhead to the next available clip edge.Vegas Pro does this intelligently. It even watches the markers for snap-to edges. But with Prem Pro, I have to move the clip back or to the wrong place +undo, then move the playhead, then do the move all over again.
REALLY annoying on an active timeline with 3 or 4 tracks that is only a couple of minutes long. INCREDIBLY annoying on a busy timeline of 8-20 tracks in a project 20-30 minutes long or longer.
It really bugs me that the program does actually do a better job overall, but the usability is so rough in PPro. Weird that programs like Vegas, which have a feel (and reliability) like cheap plastic toys compared to PPro also happen to have so much more intuitive UI.
I got started back with Vegas Pro 8 and PPro CS6 feels outdated by comparison just with the general navigation, ease of use and not having to fiddle with settings to make them useful.
When I try opening Pr CC I get error code 16. The message asks me to unistall Pr CC then reinstall it, so that's what I did, but I keep getting that error code when I try opening Pr CC and it keeps crashing before it can even open the program. Error code 16 means?
We purchased CC about a week ago and have not been able to use Premier Pro CC. We have tried uninstalling and installing. The message we get it "Adobe Premier Pro CC has stopped working" A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I recently upgraded from a machine using OS 10.6 (I believe) to a new iMac with 10.8. I was running Photoshop CS4 on the old machine and it transferred over to the new machine via setup assistant with everything else on my hard drive.
I did deactivate CS4 on the old machine, but now when I try and start up CS4 I get the 150:30 licensing error.
I've tried everything in this document except reinstalling (I really don't want to lose all my actions, etc.) and the License Repair tool because my system wont let me run it. URL....I called Adobe Support and they sent me here.
I know CS4 is on the old side, but it suits my needs for now and how can I upgrade if I cannot even open the application on my machine?
I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
I have a lot of files in the extension ogg that I need to edit using premiere pro cs 5.5.After loading the file receives the information:"The file can not be opened because of header error".I installed already URL....And further receives the above error. The information that I read from MediaInfo:
General Complete name G:3-4.ogg Format : OGG File size : 1.68 GiB
Video ID : 29297 (0x7271) Format : Theora Width : 2 560 pixels Height : 1 920 pixels Display aspect ratio : 4:3 Frame rate : 30.000 fps Compression mode : Lossy Writing library : Xiph.Org libtheora 1.1 20090822 (Thusnelda)
Is it possible to load a file to the premier pro without converting them?
I've been getting a "Serious Error" message consistently when using Premiere Pro CC on my Macbook Pro. It only seems to remedy itself after a system restart, but eventually it will happen again. Most recently it happened after I used After Effects without issue. Here are my system specs and a copy of the error log.
importing FCP XML, I get the error "The importer reported a generic error", Why? How do I import correctly? I did file> import, but got the error I noted.
when selecting a simple clip on Premiere CC timeline and selecting 'Replace with After Effects composition', from Adobe Dynamic Link, AE CC launches, creates a new (empty) comp but does not import the footage clip into the project
When I'm in the Organizer "All Media" and try to move a photo to an existing album I get an error message. I've tried both moving the album over the photo and moving the photo over to the album. Same error. I've tried different photos. Same error. I've looked up the instructions in the manual. It just doesn't work.
When I try to move folders or pix selected individually between my hard drive and external drive withing Lightroom 5 an error message pops up unable to copy to destination...
