Feb 20, 2008When I apply a drop shadow effect to an object over a black background.......the "shadow" part doesn't show up on top of the black layer...it shows up behind it.

Mar 16, 2005got Illustrator CS at work and was wondering how I could create the following effect in it?
That was created in Photoshop using the following Drop Shadow options:
Blend Mode: Normal
Distance: 0
Spread:100
Size: 10
Now, in Illustrator you just get blur - it doesn't quite work the same, I have no idea why they don't just use the tools found in photoshop to allow you to change all of this?
Reason I'm asking is because I want to import these words into flash and I want to be able to scale them without losing quality. Flash has the most basic tools I have ever seen for graphics so I can't see it being able to be done in there.
Anyone know how to replicate this in Illustrator so I can use it as a vector in flash?

May 30, 2012After saving a CS6 AI document as CS5 version, and open it with CS6 again, effect like dropshadow has been expanded and no more editable.
You know, using Illustrator CS5 save document as CS4 version is just OK.
(PC 32bit CS6)

The file goes back to an older version or reverts to the way it was last time i edited it in photoshop, saying that - paraphrase("a slice which was present has been deleted.")
I've tried deleting all slices.

it is in .psd format, so now what i want is to implement this design into a webpage, i want distribute different sections or portions of the design, now i dont find any such function in photoshop 7.0
what should i do ?

May 13, 2012I am trying to add links to an image and then add it to my web page...I have been trying to use the slice tool in photoshop which works great for the links but I can't seem to achieve a transparent background in the save for web...
Inside of photoshop the image is transparent and when I save for web (image) the map.png file is not created...map_01.png, map_02.png and all others are created but not the map.png file When I have saved for web (html) I have tried inserting the html into an iframe on the page and the image looks and functions correctly but there is no transparent background because it is an <iframe> and not the actual .png.
Photoshop :: Webpage Fit All Screen Resolutions?
Jul 25, 2012I used to assign certain width numbers for my psd webpages but it creates horizontal scroll bars on small monitors.
Can i do something with my psd file using photoshop in order to make the webpage fit all screen sizes? I don't like horizontal scrollbars appearing when my site loads. On the other hand, I also don't like un-necessary space appearing on large screens when my site loads. I use photoshop 7.

How big should I make the image? Should I set the image as a BG or a image in DW8? Resolution?
How does the browser resize the image from PS? It doesn't automatically fit to the page does it?
I want to make navigation buttons. If not too detailed, I would like to try some roll over buttons.

Photoshop Elements :: Saving For Webpage
Feb 10, 2013In Photoshop Elements I created a banner, 900 x 200 pixels, for a website. I used a few layers, one for text, one for graphics and background. In Elements everything is crystal clear, but when I import it to the website it seems to be a bit out of focus, a little blurry. In Elements I saved the file with ‘save for web’ with the quality at 100%, the resolution at 72 DPI. How do I make the finished image on the site as clear as in Elements?

Aug 8, 2013 I have been in the process of making a map which I currently have in illustrator. I also downloaded some administrative boundaries which I have converted to a path in illustrator and am trying to overlay on top of this map.
The problem is, it just doesn't line up. If the top is aligned, the bottom and sides will be off.
Is there a way to select a few points on the path of which I know the exact position on the map and have illustrator warp, skew, resize the path and it will magically fit?

Dec 18, 2005I'm trying to create a header for a website, 500x100, that has a photo image, 300x100, in the center that has both right and left edges feathered. On the left edge it would fade to white, on the right edge it would fade to blue. Seems like I've seen similar things on other sites.
First I thought I'd just place a blue rectangle on the right half of the piece and place the image over it in the center with both edges feathered. But if I feather one edge (with the gradient tool), trying to feather the other edge undoes the first edge's feathering. I still don't really get working with layers.
Then I thought I'd just feather the left edge of the image and place a blue rectangle with a feathered left edge over the right edge of the image. But when I draw a rectangle, the gradient tool doesn't work and I can't feather the edge. If I select the tool and click in the rectangle I get a message that the content of the layer isn't directly editable and I can't figure out how to make it editable.
At this point, I'm not even sure what method I should be using to accomplish this task. Should I be feathering one edge and blurring the other? I think I did get it done once before by starting with an image that had lots of extra height, feathering all 4 edges and cropping off the top and bottom feathered parts but this image doesn't have that much extra to work with.
I'm sure these are stupid questions but the tutorials, tips and how-to's I've looked at always seem talk about how to feather one or all edges, not two. It doesn't help that I'm still not really familiar with all the tools and terminology.
I would certainly appreciate at least a pointer to what methods I should be using. I feel like I'm trying to use a chisel as a screwdriver.
