May 3, 2009I am using Photoshop CS3 (registered and activated) on my old computer. I built a new computer and want to install CS4 extended on it. I purchased a Photoshop CS4 Extended update from Amazon for $342.99. During installation of CS4 on my new computer I entered the serial number. The next page that pops up is Upgrade Check that asks: 1) Select product that you already own: The only choice is Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended and 2) it asks for the serial number. I am upgrading from Photoshop CS3, not the extended version, so it will not accept my serial number. Photoshop is installed on a trial basis right now. I tried installing Photoshop CS3 on the new computer but that did not help and CS3 did not recognize the CS2 installation disk that I put in the CD drive to prove that I was allowed to install a CS3 uprade. The new computer I am trying to install on is an Intel i7 920 processor on a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P motherboard, with 12Gb RAMM, a Sapphire Toxic Radion HD 4870 graphics card, and running Windows XP pro 64 bit. I installed the operating system on the D drive. This computer is not setup to connect to the internet. I am also trying to install Adobe CS2 Creative Suite (everything except Photoshop), but the CS2 installation does not recognize the Adobe CS1 disk 1 when I put it in the CD drive as requested. This is all very frustrating considering how happy I have been with my Adobe software all the way back to Photoshp 5. I called the 800-833-6687 number and after playing phone tree for a while was informed that I was calling outside their hours (at noon on Sunday) even though the webpage I got the number from says they are available 7 days a week. It was bad enough that after spending $195 to upgrade to Photoshop CS3, 3 weeks later Adobe announced Photoshop CS4.

Before I made the purchase, I contacted customer service (via chat) and was assured I could upgrade to CS4 from CS3 extended. Surely there must be a way to go from CS6 to CS6 Extended for less than the cost to go from a previous version to CS6 Extended, but if there is, I cannot find a way how.

I understand that the software is the same and depending on the serial number it can unlock the extended portion of CS6. Is there any way of upgrading the installed version to extended by re-intering the new serial number or should I just install a second copy of PS CS6 and have 2 PS CS6 (one standard and one extended)?

Apr 1, 2013I was looking at a video editing tutorial for CS6 yesterday and I wanted to try it myself, but when I opened the timeline I noticed that my version of the timeline and the one in the video were completely different. At first I thought that it was just because I had to upgrade to CS6 Extended to get the full video editing experience, but when I searched around I saw nothing that would suggest that that would be the case.
Multiple people said that the regular CS6 version included the same video editing capabilities as the extended version, and the comparison chart on the Adobe website indicated the same thing. Do I really need to upgrade to the Extended version to get that feature?

I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.

I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.

So, what are my options?

I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.

Photoshop :: CC Lockout On Regular Basis
Oct 15, 2013Since joining Photoshop CC I have been locked out on a regular basis. Each time, I am asked to sign in again and register, even though the registration page is fully filled out. This has happened three times in the last week. It isn't a matter of not paying the monthly fee...the payments show up in my account. Yet, each time, I get a message that my 'trial version' has expired. Except, I never downloaded the trial version. As I understand it, if you don't pay, you get a couple of months before you are locked out. Yet, here I am, fully paid up and locked out at least once a week. It's no big deal to sign in again but winter is coming and where I am, we regularly lose internet, sometimes for a week at a time. I also travel to remote corners of the globe. What am I supposed to do if this happens when I am cut off from the internet.

Jul 21, 2008I want to use the burn tool for a special effect but I want to do it on a new layer, I've read all about making a new layer set to overlay mode with 50% grey but this produces a different effect than when I burn the backround layer.
When using burn>highlights>15% on skin colour I get a grey kind of burn which is perfect but it destroys the pixles but when using the non-destructive method I get dark red effect which is not what im looking for.
I'm not using the burn tool in the typical sense (to darken part of the picture) I use the highlight/midtone/shadows seperate to create a very specific special effect with the burn tool.
