Photoshop :: Can Upgrade CS6 From Standard To Extended Without Reinstalling
Oct 16, 2013
I have Photoshop CS6 Standard already installed on my Mac (OS 10.8). My employer has just purchased the extended version for me and I would like to upgrade. I have a valid serial number to do this.
Â
I understand that the software is the same and depending on the serial number it can unlock the extended portion of CS6. Is there any way of upgrading the installed version to extended by re-intering the new serial number or should I just install a second copy of PS CS6 and have 2 PS CS6 (one standard and one extended)?

I own Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended for Mac. I don't want to join Adobe Photoshop subscription CC, but want to upgrade to Photoshop CS6.
Â
I'd like the standard version of CS6 - not the Extended upgrade as it's much cheaper. Is it possible to buy / install an upgrade to CS6 from CS5 Extended ?

From everything I have been able to find out, I would need to pay the full $400 upgrade from my CS4 license even though I already own CS6. Surely there must be a way to go from CS6 to CS6 Extended for less than the cost to go from a previous version to CS6 Extended, but if there is, I cannot find a way how.

I downloaded some trial plugins and then removed them and ever since, CS5 is not working well. Sometimes when I open it and go to file open to open an image, everything is grayed out and I have to close down and re-launch. When I open an image and want to look at the file info, everything freezes and I have to use task manager to close down Photoshop.
As well, my bridge is not working correctly. I want to uninstall and then reinstall, but I thought that somewhere that I read there are specific ways to do that or else the program thinks you're trying to load it on another computer..?

Having problem with performance using PS CS 6 Extended. The wheel is spinning for almost every action in PS on my Mac book Pro.
Using: 15-Inch MacBook Pro Retina2,7 GHz Quadro Intel Core i716 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM768 GB SSDMac OS X 10.8.3Before I joined the Creative Cloud I used the standard PSCS 6. No problem at all.

When I installed the Extended version, everything slows down. This is only a problem with PS. Can I start PS as standard edition?

I am using Photoshop CS3 (registered and activated) on my old computer. I built a new computer and want to install CS4 extended on it. I purchased a Photoshop CS4 Extended update from Amazon for $342.99. During installation of CS4 on my new computer I entered the serial number. The next page that pops up is Upgrade Check that asks: 1) Select product that you already own: The only choice is Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended and 2) it asks for the serial number. I am upgrading from Photoshop CS3, not the extended version, so it will not accept my serial number. Photoshop is installed on a trial basis right now. I tried installing Photoshop CS3 on the new computer but that did not help and CS3 did not recognize the CS2 installation disk that I put in the CD drive to prove that I was allowed to install a CS3 uprade. The new computer I am trying to install on is an Intel i7 920 processor on a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P motherboard, with 12Gb RAMM, a Sapphire Toxic Radion HD 4870 graphics card, and running Windows XP pro 64 bit. I installed the operating system on the D drive. This computer is not setup to connect to the internet. I am also trying to install Adobe CS2 Creative Suite (everything except Photoshop), but the CS2 installation does not recognize the Adobe CS1 disk 1 when I put it in the CD drive as requested. This is all very frustrating considering how happy I have been with my Adobe software all the way back to Photoshp 5. I called the 800-833-6687 number and after playing phone tree for a while was informed that I was calling outside their hours (at noon on Sunday) even though the webpage I got the number from says they are available 7 days a week. It was bad enough that after spending $195 to upgrade to Photoshop CS3, 3 weeks later Adobe announced Photoshop CS4.

I have been kicking around on upgrading to CS4.
Can I upgrade from CS3 extended to plain ole CS4? After taking inventory of what I actually do in Photoshop vs What I think I may someday do in Photoshop, I realize I don't really need the extended and don't see the need spend the extra cash. So, can I up to CS4 from CS3 extended?

I own CS3 Extended. I just purchased and download CS4 (not extended). Before I made the purchase, I contacted customer service (via chat) and was assured I could upgrade to CS4 from CS3 extended. When I try to register the product as an upgrade, it does not recogonize my CS3 extended serial number.

I tried to install CS4 Extended Upgrade, and when it asks what previous version I have, the only version that is listed is CS3 Extended. I have Photoshop CS. How do I go about upgrading? I hope I purchased the proper version, as there is no mention of prerequisite versions on the outside of the package OR on the inside.

Is it simply an error in the web store or is there no advantage to upgrading from CS3 extended to CS4 extended over just CS3 (or CS2 or CS1) to CS4 Extended. Its all $349 to upgrade to CS4 extended no matter what Photoshop (CS) version you start from.

I was looking at a video editing tutorial for CS6 yesterday and I wanted to try it myself, but when I opened the timeline I noticed that my version of the timeline and the one in the video were completely different. At first I thought that it was just because I had to upgrade to CS6 Extended to get the full video editing experience, but when I searched around I saw nothing that would suggest that that would be the case.
Multiple people said that the regular CS6 version included the same video editing capabilities as the extended version, and the comparison chart on the Adobe website indicated the same thing. Do I really need to upgrade to the Extended version to get that feature?

This is what my timeline looks like:

I installed the retina display-optimized update to my purchased (non-Creative Cloud) version of Photoshop Design Standard (via the Adobe Updater app that pops up in my menu bar only when updates are available), but now when Photoshop launches, I get Photoshop Extended (and it's a trial version). Is this a known issue? Will I need to reinstall Photoshop?

Currently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
Â
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
Â
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
Â
So, what are my options?
Â
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
Â
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.
