View 8 RepliesI'm editing some photographs in Photoshop and because of the sunlight, all my subjects have a dark shadow covering part of their neck/throat areas and shirt collars. I used the both the healing brush and patch tools to fix up the shirt areas and they look fine. However, whenever I tried using these tools using non-shadow areas of their neck as sampled areas, the results always look bad. Their necks, even though shadows are removed, look like plastic or plaster rather than real human skin. How would I remove these shadows from their necks without causing an unrealistic looking skin?

How to isolate and adjust these shadows and make them more true to real skin tones? It can't be a globally applied color correction because only the shadows are out of whack and the rest of the image looks great. Reduce green globally will make the rest of the image too red.
what is the easiest way to remove gray shadows from my picture and to preserve the handwriting at the same time? I have a lot of pictures like this so I need to use your procedure in batch.

However, there are shadows and you can see the seams in the background. I would like to brighten the white and remove shadows so that the shoe image looks professional. I tried uploading the image but it would not allow it........i will attempt again

In that thread 2 posters showed how to do this using a completely different approach. That is, using Arrange/Apply ClipView..However, I used the help manual to try to do this, at a section headed Combining Shapes
When subtracting, intersecting and slicing, you can either use the topmost selected shape to do the "cutting" of the lower shapes, or you can use a mask.To use a mask to cut shapes, first select the shapes and then turn on mask mode. All objects except for the selected shapes disappear while mask mode is on.
Then draw your cutting shape using the main drawing tools (Freehand Tool, Shape Editor, Rectangle Tool, etc.) or paste the shape if you already drew it and copied it. Then select the Arrange->Combine Shapes operation. The mask shape is used to cut the shapes underneath. I never did see anything describing the details of how to do the cutting with one of the shapes already in the composition so I went the mask route, which is explained there.
So I selected all, then went to mask mode, drew a rectangle (at the right in 2nd screen grab below) then Arrange/Combine shapes/ and none of those selections: Add, subtract, intersect and slice... appear to do a darned thing to the objects.
I am using CS6. I have created some text with a gradient fill. I have converted it to shapes before addin the Fill. I appear to get a slight black shadow arround the letters. This appears to get worse when I Export it to png with a transparent background. This black shadow is not a stoke that I have added.
How can I remove this black effect?
how to remove any background from photos..specially grained and low contrast ones....like this: I know that using channels is useful in this case..but I need more experience with this way..plus I tried it and I can't keep the smoothness of the image...is there any other ways ?

I'm trying to work with a brag ad that will run in a high school football program. She's got 3 great photos of her son. I think that they would look better if 1-3 of them had the background taken out...
I don't need the photo(s) back until tomorrow. I'm thinking that I'm going to use them on either a Blue, Black or White background and the 'message' is going to be VERY simple!! Until I can spring for Photoshop - and commit to learning it - I'm just using Apple's Pages application to design these ads.
I just bought elements 12. Need to remove photos from an album. Nothing comes up in search & don't see menu option either. I tried right clicking ... nothing happens!

I watermarked alot of photos I took recently of a newborn and family, edited them and moved them to my Smugmug account only to realize that the watermark made in PS elements11 stays on during print. I need to remove those watermarks from my photos so that the family can order their prints ASAP. What do I need to do here? I still have all of the originals but they have the watermark stamped on them. Can I get it off?

The usual kinda photo I'm working with is a portrait of someone in a challenging situation where I have no control over the background, usually there are people and bright colored objects behind my subject.
First I applied lens-blur and masked the subject but it takes time and my subject is usually white and it creates a blurry edge that looks ugly but by masking back and forth and a little cloning I can usually make it nice but it takes to much time..
After doing that for some time I created a background with a pixelated mosaic filter, it looks nice and people are pleased with the result but the problem is that the squares sometimes bleed color on the edges what makes it time consuming again.
So long story short: How to take the focus of distracting backgrounds in a way that is fast to produce but looks classy at the same time?

If I select two or more photos, then the people are no longer listed in the "image tags" info area, and the right-click menu does not list them under keyword tags to remove, it only shows "add person" not "remove person." Some time ago I had uploaded one collection of photos through Flickr photostream.
Tonight I set up a second collection to upload. I edited the connection to change from "Public" to "Family and Friends" for this upload. It asked me whether to change previous photo permissions or not. At first I said yes. Then I thought it over, especially after a popup box told me that all ratings and comments would be deleted since I had a free Flickr account. Given that, I decided not to change them. So I went into the Flickr photostream window in LR4 (I have not yet published) and when I saw all the previous photos there to be republished, I selected them and deleted them, to avoid having them re-uploaded.
Unfortunately, it didn't have that effect. It put them in a group called "Deleted photos to Remove." I don't want them removed from Flickr. But I can't seem to get them out of this category so I can publish the new photos without removing them. How do I get rid of these images from this window so they won't be removed from Flickr when I upload the new images?
I would like to get some variety of photos looking like they were taken during the civil war era. This would include white specks, black splotches, blurred edges, irregular black edges, etc. I have looked for ways in which to accomplish this and have not been successful at this.
Currently, I am using the following to varying degrees: Sepia Toning/Black and White, Blur, Salt and Pepper noise, and Vignette.
I have PSP 5
When I first got Lightroom I stupidly imported ALL my photos at once from my hard drive-all 7100 of them. Now I would like to send them back to the original places on my hard drive so I can import them in small batches and work on them. How can I do this without losing any images? Can I delete all of them (not to the recycle bin) and then reimport them?

I want to know if it is possible to use gimp to remove the water / wetness from the dress so that the photos look like the whole dress is dry.
