Paint.NET :: Brighten The White And Remove Shadows
Mar 19, 2012
I am brand spanking new to Paint and completely lost! I was referred here when asking how to edit an image I took. I took and image of a shoe on an all white background. However, there are shadows and you can see the seams in the background. I would like to brighten the white and remove shadows so that the shoe image looks professional. I tried uploading the image but it would not allow it........i will attempt again

Trying very hard to figure out how to remove the white box from around this image and preserve it to use in another background. I can not get the steps right. Can a seasoned paint.net user give me a few easy steps.

I need to remove the background white from this picture and make is transparent but not the middle bit with the player.
I thought about removing the bottom rectangle and then putting an ellipse around it but it's not a perfect circle...it's flat at the bottom.
Also, I can't seem to get the perfect ellipse size or move it.
How do you select an ellipse once you've made it and resize it?

I have 1 picture with a blue background and a metal steel basin. I would like to remove the background and change the color to white.
Background is a material so it's not all perfectly the same color, very slight different shades of blue in the picture. The tutorials say outline it but this is a circular metal object. I tried using the circle tool but I can't get it exact and there seems to be no way to select a circle.

I'm sure there must be a way of doing this but I've been fiddling with it for hours. How can I remove, or make a background transparent so that I don't get the white box when I use this on a coloured background.

I am trying to remove two people from the background of this old B&W photo of my Grandpa and Great Uncle. how to get them out and keep the photo looking realistic? I don't mind changing the background, I just can't figure out and easy way to get this done, aside from zooming in really close, cutting them out, and pasting them on another background. I just don't know how realistic this will look.

I have rather large blueprint that is black and white. Their is some noise around some of the black lines / text / etc on the drawing that I want to get rid of as well as get rid of the white back round all together (which I am hoping will reduce the file size a bit).
How to best remove the white backround / remove the noise from this large drawing?

I would like to get some variety of photos looking like they were taken during the civil war era. This would include white specks, black splotches, blurred edges, irregular black edges, etc. I have looked for ways in which to accomplish this and have not been successful at this.
Currently, I am using the following to varying degrees: Sepia Toning/Black and White, Blur, Salt and Pepper noise, and Vignette.
I have PSP 5

I'm trying to remove the blitz shadow from head and body on a white/grey background, with the Lasso tool. The adjustments with Brightness/Contrast in the chosen area works like a charm, however I always get a nasty pixeled or whitelined boarder going constantly around the edited area; no matter if it boarders to a black area (shoulder) or a gray one (wall behind person).
I've tried to edit the primary/secondary color, with no luck. Any way to make this boarder "blend in" to the new brightness area - or to just remove it? The edited area is somewhat identical to the old background, so there is no natural reason to why it should be a constant boarder.
Or is it a better (and easy!) way to remove blitz shadow from a black and white picture?

I'm editing some photographs in Photoshop and because of the sunlight, all my subjects have a dark shadow covering part of their neck/throat areas and shirt collars. I used the both the healing brush and patch tools to fix up the shirt areas and they look fine. However, whenever I tried using these tools using non-shadow areas of their neck as sampled areas, the results always look bad. Their necks, even though shadows are removed, look like plastic or plaster rather than real human skin. How would I remove these shadows from their necks without causing an unrealistic looking skin?

I just bought a certain Nikon camera, which I recently discovered is notoriuous for producing green shadows in skin tones, the darker the shadow the worse it looks.
How to isolate and adjust these shadows and make them more true to real skin tones? It can't be a globally applied color correction because only the shadows are out of whack and the rest of the image looks great. Reduce green globally will make the rest of the image too red.

The example I use in this question has already been solved by friendly posters here and this is not a rehash... just using the materials at hand to illustrate the point. The effort here was to remove the trailing shadows shown in the first image (at the included URL below).
In that thread 2 posters showed how to do this using a completely different approach. That is, using Arrange/Apply ClipView..However, I used the help manual to try to do this, at a section headed Combining Shapes
When subtracting, intersecting and slicing, you can either use the topmost selected shape to do the "cutting" of the lower shapes, or you can use a mask.To use a mask to cut shapes, first select the shapes and then turn on mask mode. All objects except for the selected shapes disappear while mask mode is on.
Then draw your cutting shape using the main drawing tools (Freehand Tool, Shape Editor, Rectangle Tool, etc.) or paste the shape if you already drew it and copied it. Then select the Arrange->Combine Shapes operation. The mask shape is used to cut the shapes underneath. I never did see anything describing the details of how to do the cutting with one of the shapes already in the composition so I went the mask route, which is explained there.
So I selected all, then went to mask mode, drew a rectangle (at the right in 2nd screen grab below) then Arrange/Combine shapes/ and none of those selections: Add, subtract, intersect and slice... appear to do a darned thing to the objects.

I am using CS6. I have created some text with a gradient fill. I have converted it to shapes before addin the Fill. I appear to get a slight black shadow arround the letters. This appears to get worse when I Export it to png with a transparent background. This black shadow is not a stoke that I have added.
How can I remove this black effect?

Yes I have d/l the plug in and I see the option for drop shadow- but it doesn't seem to apply to the object- yes I have created another layer...what am I missing?
I would like the image to appear as it did before - [URL] ..... with a variable width and variable gradient shade of black/ grey. Also if I can create an animated gif in paint.net- as is shown here: [URL] .....

I am not a master of Photo-Paint, I use Draw for most tasks, but here I think Photo-Paint would be the right tool. I want to resample an image and then add a 7 px drop shadow to it and then export it as a PNG for web (transparent drop shadow). The problem I encounter is at the export stage, as the whole paper size is exported, not just the object selected, as is the case in Draw. Is there any other option than to place the object in the upper left corner (coordinates 0, 0 ) resize the paper size to fit and then export?

Why is it that after I upgraded Illustrator, my cut and pasted vectors paste into photoshop as a solid image with a white background? I don't want a white background. I want the lines to appear as they used to with my previous version of Illustrator where I could resize and use as lines.
how to cut and paste in vector.
