"You curently have Photoshop'primary Scratch and Window's primary paging file on the same volume, wich can result in reduced performance. It is recomended that you set Adobe Photoshop's primary Scratch volume to be on a different volume, preferably on a different psysical drive."
I have opened Photoshop (7.0) I get a message on the lines of: -
You currently have Photoshop's Primary Scratch & Windows paging file on the same volume which can result in reduced performance.
It recommends that I should set the primary scratch volume to a different Physical Drive. I have looked at my preferences which I havent changed (not intentionally anyway) and the First Choice is set as Startup and the others have nothing set. I only have my C drive and am unsure how to Zone another area for a second choice. Is it as simple as setting a folder somewhere on the drive. (I have 14Gb free).
If I have 4 Scratch disks does photoshop use all scratch simultaneously or does it wait for the first scratch to fill up before it starts to use the next one ?
I've read a few threads on this way back but cannot locate them. I have two surfaces and create a volume surface and it reported the volume as 493 cy. I then ran some sample lines at 25 foot interval and the total volume is reported as 964 cy.
I want to use it as my primary hydrologic and hydraulic modeler. It only makes sense. Well, I got the program to work and had things linked in and was able to route a storm through the network. But when I routed the storms, I had to model double the storage that i expected.
So I went back to the program I'm familiar with - Pondpack by Benltey - and designed the same system I routed in SSA in that program - and got the storage volume that I would expect for a site of this size - about 2 acres.
Is there possibly a setting that I'm missing that makes my outlet structures route slower or less than they should? Or is there some other reason that a system would give this kind of inflated need for storage?
I have an issue with using Bounded Volume or Adding a Boundary to Volume Surface things so bad... = incorrect volumes.. sometimes extremely incorrect.. I understand that the surface rectangle when a boundary is added but this could be horrible if not checked.
I'm no longer able to control the PP (monitor) volume using my computer volume controls. I've always controlled the monitor volume using my computer volume levels, but starting today, that has changed.
The volume is just playing at the level recorded with no way for me to turn down or up.I performed a disc repair and that didn't solve the problem.
I have just purchased CS6 upgrade single user (volume licensing). Currently I have a Windows desktop and a MacBook Pro. I would like to install the primary on the Windows desktop and the additional on MacBook. Am I allowed to install primary on Windows machine and secondary on Mac machine as per EULA? I am the only user.
if it is allowed as per license since I have heard that multi platform is not allowed but I couldn't see anywhere in the EULA forbidding this.
Create a new document in X5. Choose CMYK as the "Primary Color Mode" in the "Create a new document" dialog box.
Draw a rectangle. The Eyedropper Tool tells me it is RGB 0, 0, 0. Shouldn't it be CMYK 0, 0, 0,100? Is there a simple way to fix this to default to CMYK?
We are having an issue with Dimensioning and the Primary Units not maintaining the correct value. We use metric so the multiplier of 25.4 or .039370079 for Dim Scale Linear would be used in our Dimension Styles depending on if we are drawing in model space or annotating in paper space. We have created specific Dim Styles for Model and Paper space. Every so often some of us will us the Dim Style for paper space and a metric unit would be shown. When we go into the properties of that dimension and change the Dim Scale Linear to 1 it shows as a different dimension then it actually is. After looking at the correct dimenion, we noticed the Dim Scale Linear shows .9449 but gives the correct dimension.
Note: We are drawing in Metric a multiplier of 25.4, our dimensions are done in english. A scale factor of .039370079 is used to accomplish this.
There is a simple fix with Match Properties but it still doesn't answer why our dimension show up wrong with a different multiplier for Dim Scale Linear.
How can I set the primary External Editor in LR4? I recently upgraded to CS5.5, then uninstalled CS5 and now Lightroom thinks it should use CS4 which is not longer installed. I've unstalled and reinstalled LR4 and nothing changed. I deleted the preferences file and nothing changed.
Why isn't there an easy way to change this setting?
How do I change the primary external editor to Elements 11? It was an old version of PS which I removed and had hoped that since it was no longer available, LR would look for a new one as primary. I already have my Topaz products for the additional external editor. Is it possible to have more than one? If the default choice of LR is unavailable, how do i get LR to look for new one?
I'm using Lightroom 4 on a shiny new 27" iMac and have a very old Dell 24" display, not LED backlit, as a secondary display. Both have been calibrated with a Spyder 3. I would like to preview photos on my iMac display by default and use all edit controls on the old Dell display but setting this up is a pain in the butt and it won't return to this configuration after I quit LR and open it again.
Even when I right-click on the dock in OS X Mavericks and select "Options/Desktop on Display 2" I only get the splash page on Display 2.
Is there any way to make LR open by default on the system's secondary display (Dell 24") and use the iMac itself as LR's secondary display?
I have a massive problem with my autocad map 3d's linetype scale..Problem is caused from creating an primary viewport "construction plan", then creating a second viewport "detail plan" and zooming in on the detail plan viewport.
My line type in the detail plan turns into ------ LV ----- as apart from the normal size of -----LV-----.I've tried everything form psltscale, lt scale, msltscale (i think), audit, recover, basically everything i could.
NOTE: This problem is only on my pc, and none of the other pc's in the office do this. I use classic autocad and have customised my buttons etc.
When I use the AutoCAD List command on a Civil 3d Point, one reported datum is Primary Point Group.
I want to get at that information with vlisp, but when I vlax-dump a point, there is no mention of Primary Point Group. If that's a limitation of using vlisp, let me know, and I won't chase it.
Maybe I have to go in through the point groups collection?
What's the best way to change the primary command on a ribbon panel? I want to set Pline as the primary command on the draw panel as it is currently line. I've managed to get it to work (sort off) but shouldn't it as simple as right click "set as primary command"?
I'm still learning autodesk inventor, I have problem about tolerance. My tolerance more big than my primary dimension. How to edit this text..? or how to reset style editor for factory setting..?
I am using C3D 2013, I have a corridor created using a Primary Road Full Section as my assembly, I have all the slopes and ditching set, when I go to model the corridor the ditching is not showing correctly, only small sections of the ditching are showing when I know there should be more. I have the assembly setup to build the ditching when there is less than a meter fill, but will not work.
I have recently bought an SSD (sandisk 120GB) which i have installed windows on. i have another 500gb internal drive which is empty and am wondering whether i should install photoshop on the 500gb drive and put the scratch disk on the SSD or the other way round.
how an SSD differs from a regular hard drive, there is no drop in performance when your stratch disk is assigned to the same SSD containing your Photoshop app.. I heard this setup is much faster than the conventional setup of having your app and scratch disk on separate hard drives.
I have just built my new rig (Asus p9x79 pro, 32GB 1600Mhz DDR3, Intel 3820, old GTX285 1GB, Win7 pro.....many hard drives ) as I am working on a very big project producing 440x240cm200ppi digital drawings to be installed as lightbox artworks at the same size.
My old system just could not cope with the demands I was putting on it as It only had 12gb RAM. I have two scratch disks set up x1 30gb SSD (dedicated) and x1 240gb SSD ( has other stuff on it with 75gb free ). I am also using Photoshop CS5 Extended (updated) with RAM usage set to 80% (23976).
While I realise PS will still make use of the scratch disk despite the amount of RAM I was shocked to see the first drive (30gb) was almost full with 5gb space left when I loaded the PSB file with x9 layers. Looking at the meta data in Bridge it tells me the file size is 6.90GB with pixel dimensions of 34646x18898@200ppi. Windows reports that I am only using 20GB of my 32GB..
Shouldn't PS be using more RAM before going to the slower reads on a SSD? Windows Task Manager tells me I have 8150 RAM cached, 12310 RAM Available and 4215 RAM Free. If Photoshop is not using the 12GB would it be wise to make a 9GB RAM DISK for an addition boost...not even sure if that would work, but, I hate the feeling of having all that RAM and 1/3 not being used.
On my system I have a 120Gb SSD with programs (40GB free) and a 3TB HDD for all my photo files.
Looking at the settings in CS6 it seems as if it has automatically selected my SSD for the scratch folder although in the hints it suggests that the scratch folder should not be your boot drive, however, the fastest drive is probably best. What do you recommed? leave it as it is or change the scratch to the HDD?
I intend to acquire ps cs4 andi have a 64 bit machine with 32gb of ram...problem is it would be difficult for me to set up a different scratch disc...how much ram would one need in order to see no benefit from a scratch disc ?
I have a problem with Scratch disks in Photoshop CS. I am trying to work with PSB format. Every time I do an operation on a large file (even as small as 1 GB PSB)I get the Scratch Disk dialogue Error- Scratch Disks full. Code:
