Photoshop :: Move In Action - Drag Isn't Recorded
Feb 14, 2013
I have two documents open, both flat (1-layer). Let's call them A and B, with A in the foreground. While recording an action, I bring B to the foreground and see "Select previous document" in the action pane, then select the move tool, and hold down the shift key to drag B onto A and center it.
The action shows "Select next document", as it should. But the move isn't recorded. The history shows a drag took place, but it's not in the action. I've tried this by following the drag with other recordable commands, but the drag isn't recorded. Not using shift-drag doesn't make any difference, either.
Aren't move tool steps recordable in an action?
Running CS6 Extended 13.0.4 on a Mac Pro, OSX 10.8.2.

My problem is that I made a new folder that I call "photo manipulation" and moved my "save" folder into it with the new droplet I created. So the action can not any longer save in its original path and my photos get stuck, not even manipulated in photoshop! All I wanted was to add the new folder in the "save" path between two forward slashes. The answer apparently is to double click on the action's relevant portion and enter the new value.
As indicated in this segment "Overwrite a single command" as copied and pasted below. "In the Actions panel, double-click the command. Enter the new values, and click OK." This does not work for me - when I double click on an action command I get a pop up from "Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended" with the yellow exclamation mark and [The command "SAVE" is not currently available] Continue Stop and there is nothing more happening whatsoever.
As said b4 I would have been faster to re record

I have recorded my bowling action (the English game of cricket, where you throw/bowl the ball the the batsmen). It was recorded side on to my run up. I wanted to measure my speed, so I thought, using 2 consecutive frames from movie maker, giving a time of 0.04 sec. Then using Pixlr(free photoshop), overlap the two frames, and measure the pixel distance the ball has traveled. Then I use the diameter of the ball (known) to measure how much distance each pixel is in real life. Then I calculate speed.
This should be accurate, with the only uncertainty coming from the pixel measurements. The results so far have me questioning if there are other factors I have missed, I got most of readings at 40mph, this is very slow, spinners bowl at this speed, I have been told I am faster, then I have one reading at 75mph. The fast one showed really good technique, so is why is that fast, but the slower ones shouldn't be that slow.

I'm having a very strange issue with Photoshop CS5 (both 32-bit and 64-bit)
When I go to draw anything or move anything, the canvas does not respond to mouse events at all. Right clicking doesn't work, dragging edges of the free transform box doesn't work, even the top menu bar (File, Edit, View, etc) does not detect when I mouse over from one menu selection to another (e.g. moving the mouse from "File" to "Edit")

When I move a directory to another location using drag and drop in the Elements 11 Organizer folder tree most, if not all, of the images become unlinked. What is the right way to move a directory and have the image paths updated in the Organizer database?

Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)

Does anyone know how to create an action that will open a second document, select all of the layers (or layers within a group) and move/drag them back into my working document?
I have tried all kinds of combinations but only received the "...is not currently available" alert; somehow, move is not recorded.

get any further with VB.net I'm trying to (re)create some autocad commands (and a own features, eventually).
I'm trying a move command now.A recreation of the Autocad command.
The selection of object works. Moving the set between two points works. The only thing thats too advanced for me is the drag posibility VB offers.

HOW DO YOU TURN THIS OFF????!!!!!!!
If you select an object and then drag it, it moves. This is without initiating the MOVE command and without picking any grips.

I'm trying to make an interactive animation where when the user clicks and moves the mouse around an area, the opacity of that part of the layer decreases and the user gets to see the background layer. It's similar to the idea of using a brush to clean a dirty window.

I've seen several adobe tutorials and youtube videos that show moving photos or folders by drag and drop in the library grid view. I cannot get it to work.
Steps:
1. Mousedown on a photo (not the frame) in the grid
2. Drag the mouse to a folder in the "Folder" pane (left of the grid)
3. Mouseup on the destination folder
Results:
Nothing happens. The mouse cursor doesn't change from the arrow. There is no indication I can drag and drop. The photos are not moved.
The photos are stored on a NAS. Of course I can move them around via Windows Explorer, but I want to do this from inside LR4 for obvious reasons. From LR4, I can create new folders, but I still cannot move photos into those folders. I also tried creating a new folder on a local drive. Again, I was able to create the folders, but was not able to move any photos into the folder.

I know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.

Is there a way without grouping nodes to move several at the same time in action?
Having to group nodes just to rearrange the layout is too slow.

For our office I'm trying to figure out (so far without success) how it might be possible to constrain movement of a block's geometry to a single plane?
I can use a stretch grip but that will mean you can go in one direction only (positive) not negative, I want the freedom to be able to move backwards and forwards in the X-Plane.
Block I'm working on (progress so far) attached. It is designed to display height relative to a datum point in the block, and for use in drawings so you can place it all over and pick up levels to top of things like steels.
The block allows the use to pick the stretch grip to go up, so the objects moved will be to a point which will be relative to the base point of the block, which will be set at a datum level for the drawing. Relative to the base point a field will extract the y-coordinate of an object in the block, add a suffix of mm, that will then be the level relative to the base point.
I want the move command constrained to move the block geometry in the drawing but only in the x-plane; if the entire block moves accidentally in the y-plane it will also move the base point also, which destroys the idea of measuring against a fixed datum.

I've got a block with 2 lines of text, the second line being optional. If the second line is omitted, the first line should be moved down, so it's centered.
I can handle the second line being omitted with a visibility parameter. And I can handle the first line being moved down with a move parameter. But how can I link the two?
Ideally, I'd be able to re-use the line 1 attribute and display it in whichever place was correct, but that doesn't seem to be possible.

I'm trying to set up Photoshop to create a bunch of thumbnail images. I've got actions to select various preset sizes with the marquee tool, and then one action that copies, creates a new document using the clipboard preset, pastes, and then resizes the image to 150 x 150 px.
The problem is that the resizing seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes in the new image I get the selected area with a big blank space surrounding it, and sometimes most of it gets pasted outside the canvas so only a small part is visible.

I'm working with a file that has multiple layers that with almost exactly the same content.
The subject (car) just changes colors.
Let's say that there is a spot I want to clone out on each layer, (shown above as a black smudge) but when I do, the results are somewhat different every time. I'm looking for consistency.
Is there a way in CS6 to create a Tool Recorded Action to sample an area on a layer, clone out the ugly, then repeat the process on the layer below?
*The goal here is to sample an area initiated on Layer A (Yellow) and clone out an area on Layer A (Yellow)...
..then use the action to sample the exact same area, but this time sampled from Layer B (Orange) to clone out that same area on Layer B (Orange).
I want to get the same results on every layer so the look on every color is uniform.
I almost got it to work, but my problem occurs when I look at the details of the action.
If I could duplicate the steps and change the "Source: layer" to the layer name below, that might do it.
Also I used the shortcut CTRL + [ to "Select backward layer". When I look a the details on this it says "Without Make Visible." Is there a way to do this WITH MAKE VISIBLE?

I've just 'upgraded' to CC, and noticed that actions that alter Curves adjustment layers do not play back correctly. The Action itself contains the correct steps ... here's an example.. but it refuses to play this type of step in any Action, giving me the default, flat curve, thus ...I've an extensive set of Actions of this type for photo-processing: I take it that these are now pretty useless in PSD CC?

I have a DVD that was made from transferring a VHS PAL tape to a DVD. I can't see how to input the contents into VSProX4.
I downloaded Wondershare and that was easy to use to create an input file and I used VSProX4 to edit the file and make a 2 minute clip which I put on Youtube. The problem is with that the Watermark "Wondershare" is shown on the clip. I assume I need to spend $50 to buy a copy of Wondershare to not have the Watermark.
I tried a download of Handbrake. That created M4V files but it doesn't seem as though those files are compatible with VSProX4.
It would seem to me a basic requirement for a Video Editor to pull in a video from an existing DVD. I didn't think I would need to look for a program to RIP the DVD. What am I overlooking??
On the DVD there are 7 files. 2 *.BUP files, 2 *.IFO files and 3 *.VOB files. With either of the two programs I used above to RIP the DVD I think I saw 17 or 19 chapters.

I would like to know how many MINUTES (approx) of video recorded in highest quality 1080/50p video on a 32Gb SDHC memory card.
I have found a web site which suggests that 5 hours 20 minutes can be recorded with the camera's in built memory (32Gb) yet only 2 hours 40 minutes on a 32Gb SDHC memory card. I cannot understand why the inbuilt memory can store more than twice as much as on an equivalent size SDHC card.

What I am proposing to do is this: I have been asked to do the video for a friend's wedding. I would like to use a seperate audio recorder to record the audio of the wedding while I do the video on my camcorder. Then import the seperate audio track into VS X4 and sync it up with the video. The reason I am going to this extra trouble is that the built-in microphones on my camcorder are not that great unless I am "up close and personal" with the subject of the video. I have tried a short clip using an old MP3 player that records mono sound files and it appears to work well for the short video clip. What about with a longer clip, say up to an hour? If so, were there any problems keeping the video and audio tracks in sync?

I am new to VSP X5. I want to edit a music video that I recorded live. The live recording of the music was fine but I need to cut and paste new video clips in certain part of the songs in the video timeline. I split the audio from the video.
I am having a hard time trying to sync the audio because every time I cut the video clip, the video keeps snapping back, making audio out of sync. Also, when adding transitions, video clips automatic shrink. I tried enable ripple, video still snap back. Is there a setting in the preference?
