Jan 17, 2005Well, ran into an interesting filter result which looks similar to molten metal or something you would get with meta balls in a 3d program. Preety easy to get it too, just use your filter-render-fibers (default setting will work) then your filter-sketch-plaster (again, default settings may work) and whola. Jan 21, 2011I am trying to create the effect of ripped or torn metal. The effect is a piece of metal with a hole in the middle and very irregular curled up bits of metal around the edges of the irregular shaped hole.
My problem is I dont know how to start off. Should I start with a solid piece of metal (a very thin box) and then create the hole after that or should I create mesh that is similar to the end shape.
I dont have any plugins but I would buy if they could speed up this process. I looked at FumeFX but it appears to be for animation and i dont want any animation. The output is for graphic design.

Mar 14, 2013How can I detect sheet metal cut and extrusion cut features that have the white circular model browser node icon wih the "i" insided it (toolip says "No effect?") via the Inventor API? You get this situation if the sketch does not cut any geometry. I want to delete these features.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Perforated Metal Image Adjustment
Jul 21, 2013Inventor 2013. Need back the old materials library - most of us have no use for the 3DS Max materials workflow - if I want a custom material for rendering, I will do it in Max/Photosop The new materials/appearnces are way too complicated and confusing.
I have a material that applies an alpha mask to simulate holes for a perforated metal pattern. When I migrated my styles and updated to new appearances, for some reason the image was resized or the mapping was changed, or something. Now my perforated metal holes are 1" in diamter instead of .074. How do I adjust the png file to accomplish this, and how do I publish this new image so it is used instead of the old one?
GIMP :: How To Use Bevel And Emboss Layer Effect On Image Copied From Another Image
Jul 19, 2013I'm running Gimp 2.8.4 on Ubuntu 13.04 Linux (64-bit) and I'm trying touse the "Bevel and Emboss" layer effect on an image which I copied fromanother image. Here is what I've done:
1. Loaded image 'A' into Gimp
2. Selected a portion of it
3. Used "/Edit/Copy" to copy the selection
4. Used "/Edit/Paste As/New image" to create a new image from the selection
5. In the new window for the new image, "/FX-Foundry/Layer effects/Bevel and Emboss"
6. When the "Bevel and Emboss" window opens, I accept the defaults and click "Ok"
The filter starts to run and then stops with an error message. Here is the message I get:

basically, think about a normal 8.5x11 piece of paper. now imagine somone throws a golf ball at the middle of the paper. the ball goes through and creates a hole in the middle with torn edges. i'm looking for an image with that effect.
the main reason i'm looking for this is that i want to get a tatoo on my back that looks like my skin tore like that piece of paper and that you could see inside. inside I would have a brazilian flag.
the jist is that I want it to look like I have the brazilian flag inside of me....
Photoshop :: USM In CS6 - No Effect Until Image Is Enlarged?
Aug 7, 2012One of my online photography students said that she couldn't see any changes in a selective sharpening technique using Unsharp Mask, and it seemed that she had missed a step in the process.
But, when I tried it in CS6, using a 16 bit image, I could only see the sharpening affects in the preview window in the USM filter and then in the main image in the UI when the image was enlarged to above 75% or so. If the image is set to view fully in the UI, usually around 26% it looks like the previous version of the image without sharpening changes. I also get the effect of the sharpening increasing as I enlarge the image further and it looks over-sharpened at 300% or more.
in particular, do I have to increase the the size of the image in the UI to see any sharpening - or is there a way to see it without enlargement in the UI - perhaps at 8 bit?
Photoshop :: Lighting Effect Used In Image
Dec 17, 2012It is clear air brushing and skin toning was used to create the somewhat surreal skin surface. But I cannot figure out if the lighting is from the Render / Lighting Effect tool, or air brushed to emulate lighting, or something else?
When I use the PS lighting effect tool, everything turns dark in the photo outside the lit target area. Notice the shadowing on the arm and breast. It appears the light source is coming from two opposite directions. Like if this is a multi-layer process, etc. Not asking for a hand-holding tutorial.
Photoshop :: Mirror Image Effect
Nov 21, 2012For most of our product photos, I create a copy of the image, flip it vertically, fade it out, and then move it down to create a mirror image effect. Simple enough. But this one I'm having a problem. The product has 4 legs, and from this view, the back 2 legs are shorter. When I do my normal steps that I listed, I get similar to what you see below. I know all about drawing a marquee around part of the reflection, hitting Ctrl+T and then holding down Ctrl+Shift to skew just what's in the marquee. I've done this technique a lot, but it does not work for this particular image. What do I have to do to get the reflection of the back legs to line up with the actual back legs in the image?

Nov 13, 2012I work for a small non-profit and we don't have the resources to use the sort of freelance designers I would love to use, so I have to do a lot in-house. Recently I saw an effect that I would like to replicate.
It's a small image but you can see that it's a picture that's been blended with a cool blue effect. I would like to do this, but am not sure how to get there.

Jun 14, 2012I'd like to replicate the text effect in the image posted here. Colors are not a factor because it will be toned when complete. The effect appears to have the text washed out in parts as well as not horizontally aligned. The alignment part isn't that critical however . the washed out look is what I'm looking for.
