I did a great image last night of friends all merged together.
when i turn the opacity to say 40% with a layer mask on each image, it still gives a pretty distinct edge to the pictures and doesnt blend together.
When resizing a layer with a layer mask and using any bicubic method, the layer maks scales 1 pixel differently from the other layers. Is this normal due to some component of bicubic interpolation or is it a bug?
Try the following:
Create a new image in Photoshop at 800 px x 800 px
Leave the locked BG layer and create a new layer
Fill the new layer with green (or your favorite color)
Add a layer mask to the green layer and fill the mask with black (via Fill with foreground color or Alt+Del) to completely remove any visible green from your document
Now use Image-> Image Size (Opt+Cmd+I) to resize your document using any bicubic scaling method. Resize to 600 px by 600 px.
Now zoom in on the document's edge at the pixel level. Is it completely white as it should be?In my case, no. However, if I use 'nearest neighbor' interpolation method when scaling, I do get a solid white edge. Even more strange, if I fill the layer mask with black by inverting it rather than filling it the problem does not happen.
When I use the healing brush is tends to "skip". It leaves a line of circles like a stamp would instead of a flowing line like it should leave. No matter how slow I move the brush it leaves a circle and then as I continue to draw nothing happens until I reach the edge of the first circle, it then drops another circle and it continues that way as long as I draw with it. The brush tool works fine, leaves a smooth line. The Spot Healing and Patch Tool work fine but the healing brush will not heal in a smooth stroke. It skips along a leaves a tail of circles the size of the brush. I am using a fast computer, i7 processor, 16bg ram and a SSD drive so I do not think speed is an issue. I upgraded from CS4 where the healing brush worked fine on this computer
View 3 Replies View RelatedQuite often I use teh brush tool on clouds, to define edges a little better. However when I do it leaves 'splatter' all over. Sometimes due to colour and texture you can't see it very well, but most times I have to cancel the edit because of this splatter.
I can only describe splatter as spurious drops of brush effect.
When using the Adjustment Brush to mask a portion of a RAW image so I can reduce the exposure of only a part of my photo I get an uneven effect. It appears that the mask is not affecting some pixels of the area I'm trying to adjust. The photo was taken inside a cathedral in Vienna where the lighting wasn't great so I used an ISO of 3200 on my Nikon D7000 camera. I made noise reduction adjustments before attempting to use the Adjustment Brush. A portion of the image is shown below. I have had the same problem with other photos when using the Adjustment Brush. I've tried different Feather, Flow, and Density settings without noticable improvement.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this in LR4 and now in LR5, often times when I just use the adjustment brush to increase or decrease the exposure the edge is speckled. It looks a lot like the "desolve" blending mode in PS. It doesn't happen all the time but it looks terrible when it does.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a new computer (Windows 7) and I don't like the default "Paint" program that comes with it. I've been using the Windows XP paint program for a long time and Paint.Net was the closest thing I could find to it.
I don't use Paint to edit photos or create super detailed artwork. I use it to draw little things (the image size is usually 50x50 or 100x100 pixels) and zooming in to 400%-800%. I've used paint.net a few times but I was wondering if there was a place in the program that would let me set preferences. It would just save a little time making it more convenient and less frustrating.
These are the things that I would like to change:
1: When moving a selected item it automatically leaves a "checker board" pattern on the image. It's relatively easy to fix with the "Paint Bucket" tool. Though if there was an option to make it only leave the default area white it would be a time saver.
2: When moving a selected item it will automatically replace the image beneath where you place it. In the Windows XP program there was an option to either replace an image or to replace all other colors except white (255green+255red+255green on the custom color spectrum). Is there an option like that in this program?
3: After moving a selected image (using the "rectangle select" tool then the "move selected pixels" tool) is it possible to simply de-select the selected image without having to click on the "rectangle select" tool and right clicking? In other words, being able to move an image, deselect the image, then automatically return the tool to "line" tool?
4: While using the "Line/Curve" tool the 4 click and drag points automatically appear on it to make it "curve-able" so is there a way to just leave it as a solid line without those 4 selectable points appearing?
5: Is there a way that I can make "Line Tool" my default cursor instead of pencil?
I am doing a HDR image lesson (Adobe CS5 Classroom in a Book, page 139) using three .DNG files from the training CD.If I use CS5 32 bit all (model's face and background) is ok. if I use CS5 64 bit the image has bad background colors and a portion of the model's face is dark red.if possibly the DNG was created by CS5 32 bit and cannot be opened and processed in CS5 64 bit HDR?
Note:Each DNG image looks good using CS5-64 File Open. I have two jpg if needed to show.
I'm goofing around with Photoshop 7 and would like to scan in a board of a board game. The board is too big for my scanner, so I have to scan it in pieces.
When I scan the board, it won't lie flat on the scanner (because the scanner edges are not flush with the glass). Instead, it's a bit tilted as it runs over the raised edge, and the part that is tilted up (away from the glass surface) doesn't get exposed as well, so the board image shifts from light to dark as it goes from the part closest to the scan head, to the part that won't quite sit on the glass.
If I have 4 or 5 images I need to merge with each other (not on top of each other, but alongside each other) to form one larger image..how do I do it?
I want to desaturate the images and then merge them and add a colour wash over the top of them.
I know the title sounds weird, but I am having trouble keeping my levels from reverting back to their default look when saving as a jpeg or attempting to flatten or merge my layers. I can attach a link to the PDS if you would like to take a look at it. The layer that is losing its levels settings is called "Stars". I don't change my levels often, so I am sure its something I am just missing. The levels are just changes on a single layer, as stated above its the layer called "Stars".

I'm trying to script a simple action. I would like to make a frame matte around an image, fill it with black, then make a white stroke around the image but have it a few pixels away from the image itself... like this:

What I normally do is just create a shape on a layer underneath the image that is the exact size of the image... then transform that shape adding a specified amount of pixels (percent doesn't work, it comes out uneven) to each value. Now, this would be fine if all my images were the same size... but I need to be able to add a set number of pixels... say 10... to an arbitrary set of dimensions (changes each time I crop).
I want to put a old TV as the border for my gif animation. I deleted the tv screen and made it transparent, but I have no clue how add it as a border. My animation has over a 100 frames so it would be impossible to line them all up evenly.

This is so interesting.I use ''knockout2, remask3'' for cutting and ''Imagenomic Portraite'' for retouching.That never happened in CS4 32-bit.
Now i use CS6 64-bit and whenever i APPLY an effect/filter (include PS's Refine Edge) or plugin, there happens a strong white border/line on the image.
I can delete it by using so many ways like ''contract'' but it kills the details.
why is that happening?This must be an option or something cuz it never happened in any other photoshops that i used.I used the same plugins.
After I made a selection and then go to modify-Border, the border comes out feathered. Is there a way to create a hard edge border around an image or layer? Also what's the easiest way to create a border around a type layer?

1.I was able to cut the image out using the pen tool then seleting new layer and then pasting in there. Now I want to make the pic a bit smaller (like click on the image and move the mouse in to make it smaller) But just not winning.
2.How can I open a new background image in the same project. when ever i click new it opens a new project and when i select new layer and copy and paste the image i want to use as a background it views as a thumbnail.

When saving a file with a solid, dark blue background as a JPG in PS CS4, it's producing a very faint border around it. On a web page, it needs to blend into a background that has the same color as that of the JPG; but it shows the faint borders. It also shows it when saving the file as PNG-24. How do you get rid of the border? What's causing this?
