I'm playing with the 3D tools in Photoshop CS5 Extended for a friend. He provided an .obj file of a tool part and it opens just fine as a complex, shaded object.
Question: Is there a way to generate simple outlines of the object and export those outlines as paths to Illustrator?

A couple of weeks ago, I was doing a Photoshop tutorial that had me change my brush settings to spatter. Now I can't remember where I changed it or find the spot where I can change it back.

I reloaded my Wacom and PSD. I have current drivers and all appears as normal, however... I can't for the life of me get the settings right to draw using pressure, from a thin to think line and back. I played with those settings in Brush dynamics and it will only draw as a round stroke with no thickness variations.

I will try that with the lasso tool. But, my main concern is how to get the color back when using the brush tool, picking from the color box. All, I get now is the grey-rose color, for my brush, no matter which color I chose from the box. When I go to apply the color I have chosen, only the grey-rose color appears no matter what. How do I get back to picking the color and then it (the color chosen) appears on my image?

I am using LR 4.2 and I have a question about the non-destructive editor, specifically the use of adjustment brushes. After I work with an adjustment brush and then go on with my editing I can't figure out how to make tweaks to what was darn earlier on the adjustment brush area. With all the other editing functions I can change something and then later make a change. For example, I can set -10 highlights and then later I can change it to -15 highlights and then later change it to something else. With things I have done with adjustment brushes though I haven't figured out the technique to do that. If I select adjustment brush and then click on the area that I had earlier changed with an adjustment brush it doesn't seem to reselect that area so that I can tweak it. Is there a way to go back and tweak areas selected with an adjustment brush?

I recently purchased Designer Pro 7 after a trial period. During the trial, I had the default brush gallery, and had also downloaded some additional brushes. After downloading the content pack earlier this week, my brush gallery disappeared. The only brush that is available is the "normal line". All of my "galleries" are checked in the Utilities menu. How to get the brush gallery back?

When I work with brush I very often have to move my image verically or horizontally. Therefore I have to find the state where i can use the hand to move my image. This I have done purely using the try & error method. How toswitch between brush and move. Zoom also is a bit problematic for me. IÂ am too stuck to PSE.

I'm currently using my created brush and when I try to use the basic brush, it immediately jumps back to my created brush with it's stroke size.
Â
Align to pixel grid is turned off so it cant ber that.
Â
I used to resolve this problem (when I was actually trying to keep using my created brush when it was reverting back to basic brush) but I would resolve it by double clicking on the designated brush in the brushes palette.
Â
Also seeing as were on the subject of brushes, nop matter how I adjust the firmness/ pressure both in the driver setting of my wacom and for the brush in illustrator, I see no difference?

I am trying to put a border, or color around a Font, or Picture. It has to be able to detect the edges of the picture or Font. I remember that I was able to change the color and width of the border very easily and quick.
I use Photo Shop and Corel Draw. Does any one know how to do this on Both Programs???
If anyone could get back to me asap, that would be awesome. Are there any other good forums out there, or is this the best one?

I have a friend still using PS 5.5, OK, OK it's me. How would I create a SHARP outline around text or anything else. I've tried outerglow, stroke and expanding the selection. The problem is, wherever the font or shape has a sharp or 90 degree angle, the outline rounds off at that point.

In photoshop seven when you clicked on a layer and pressed i think it was control.. it automatically selects the layer outline. For example if you rasterised some text, and then clicked in this way it will select the outline making it easy for you to put a stroke on it, or to put a gradient or whatever u wished but applying only to the relevant area on that layer not the full canvas space.
This was a simple yet so useful thing and for some reason it does not work in cs3 (also could not find it in cs2). Im sure this function must be there with a different method?
I know you can use those magic lasso things but its much less efficient, takes longer and less accurate than this way...

I am trying to recreate a 'retro' style postcard, with 3d block lettering. I was able to create the 3d text, but I'm got stumped when it came to getting an outline to run along all of the 'lines' of the text and shadow (I'm trying to make it look like old hand drawn block letters). I'm attaching an example of the look I'm going for, as well as where I got to before I was stumped. As you can see, I was able to get the outline for each letter to go around the entire letter and shadow, but I want each of the 'lines' to go around the letter, the shadow, and the lines connecting the two (like it is in the example).

1. I need to create coloring pages that contain the same thickness lines throughout the entire image and was hoping to do this in Photoshop. Use graphic tablet for this. From my research there is no mention of enabling the same thickness line but rather it appears to be very sensitive to pressure applied and that the lines tend to thicken and thicken according to hand pressure. Can you clarify if my task can indeed be accomplished with the use of a graphic tablet?
Â
2. If so, what will need to be set up for this to happen?
Â
3. Also, I will need to trace a hand-drawn image via the use of the tablet as well. There was mention of some tablets containing a lift up transparent surface for enabling slipping a paper beneath. Is this a usefull and necessary feature for my application?

I'm working on a project with simple black lines (curves and geometric shapes) and bold reds, but I'd like to be able to remove the color values so the image is a simple black-and-white outline (think coloring book style ~ I'd like a template to use with other colors down the road). But... having mediocre skills with the program, I'm not sure how to do it. I've tried using the paint bucket features, just filling in the colored areas with white, but I find that depletes the black outlines or makes them jagged -- or worse, they find breaks and the color leaks out. I've tried using the magic wand to select only the colored area, then filling it with white to avoid ruining the outline, but then there is a oh-so-faint (but bothersome to me) ring of red around the black outline. So, I'm thinking, this is such a versatile program that there's got to be a way to manipulate the image to remove the red without compromising the quality of the lines...
I've attached a little snippet of a bit of the image I'm working with so you can get an idea of the "mechanics" (for lack of a better term) of the picture. Also FYI: The outline thicknesses vary between 3 and 6 pixels with thicker "curls" at the end (I'd guess the thickest would be 12-15 pixels wide) and are all done with the pen tool.

you can see what i mean in the following picture examples.
Â
Selecting a brush (any 1 pixel) brush
Â
[URL]........
shows my selection . Drawing a straight line
Â
[URL]........
Â
Zooming in to the line (600%) you can see i can draw a marquee through half of it ...
Â
[URL].........
Â
No matter what 1 single pixel brush i use this will happen... no matter which computer i use cs6 on and different copies of the installation.  Anyway have any insight into this? frankly... it's somewhat limiting that i can't use the brush for stroking a shape if i need a pixel line and yet soft curves that a pencil won't get you.Â
