View 1 Replieshow do I make straight lines? Horizontal Lines? Vertical Lines? Curvs? I read many tutorials and i am afraid that I am doing it the wrong way, my way is to drag a guide to where i want the line to be at and trace the guide with the brush tool...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop cs6 extended addition and was told Photoshop would work for the research application I need but so far I am finding it very difficult to do what I want. Basically, I need to be able to measure multiple lines (the red ones in the screen shot) of an image precisely, and make sure that the lines I measure are documented so that they are actually visible (so not just with the ruler tool) on the screen and labeled.
See image for example. I need the lengths (converted with the 2 micrometer scale at the bottom of the image). When I use the info, it gives me the lengths, but I can't save them, or look them up at a different time. Also, when using the line tool, then doing the "record measurement" it does not give me the length of the line but insted acts like it is a thin rectangle and gives me a height (which does not seem to be the same as if I used the measurement tool and put it next to the line, which is an idea I have, but not as accurate) and a width.
Is there anyway to change the color of lines in an image? In a graphic image I tried to upload (But it wouldn't do it) I want to keep the background but want to make the lines a sharp white. (they are kind of a grey) Is it possible? (There are only lines and a solid color background)

The original artwork was done on paper with a black marker. The lines are pretty ruff though. I want to smooth out all the lines without using the pen tool to path out all the lines and refill.

The only problem I'm still encountering is that the lines are not even. It was traced in sharpie before I scanned it so the lines are crisp and smooth, but not even.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a certain effect that is probably best illustrated with pictures
created by varying the thickness of lines, whether horizonal or part of letters or even symbols.
I don't know if this is even possible using photoshop to be perfectly honest. If that's the case, does anyone know the software that would be required?
I need to draw a thin white line across an image, infact several lines in different places. The lines need to be permanent. I want to key in the number of pixels for the the thickness of the line and if possible key in the position of the line. I know I can use a new grid line to position a grid line, but how do I then turn that grid line into a permanent line where I can decide the width and colour? I'm trying to refrain from the long way round of zooming up to 1600% and physically using the rectangular marquee tool then filling the rectangal with colour.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I blend layers using multiply, and lower the opacity of the top layer (such as to compensate for too much flash), photoshop puts all these vertical lines on the image. The only time they are not visible is when opacity is set to 0% or 100% for the top layer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedProblem: How to enlarge (100 times) image of multiple intersecting low resolution contour lines wile avoiding pixelation?
Simple answer: It can't be done.
Second thoughts: Well, under some circumstances it can be done... sort of. For example if lines are orthogonal to begin with then simple re-sample to nearest neighbor algorithm will do fine. If lines are simple enough, then tracing them with pen tool and recreating the original lines at higher resolution by stroking the paths with a brush will do also. Also if original lines are smooth and thick enough then some re-sampling, blurring and leveling can work (anisotropic diffusion filter may work) but will produce smoothing artifacts at corners.
From what I can see the problem boils down to creatively converting the original lines to vectors (paths / shapes) and avoiding the whole messiness of raster anti-aliasing. But here we face additional problems: Adobe trace engine is not smart enough to recognize geometric shapes, intersecting lines, straight edges, orthogonal lines and mathematical curves - just try to trace a font and you will end up with a baggy monster. Additionally, it appears that in Photoshop center-line trace is not possible and you are limited to outlines.
when I save a graphic in Illustrator it sometimes creates horizontal lines over the image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on an image that is made up of lines that have been created with an additional stroke from the appearance tool. I've overlayed several pieces, and where they overlap, I get a mysterious faint cut line. Additionally when I put a clipping mask to trim it out, the clipping mask creates a similar faint line on the edge. See red arrows below. This is Illustrator 5.1 from CS5.5 and saved as an EPS and placed into an ID document. It prints fine without these, but when I'm making a press quality pdf, they show up. How to remove these?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been working on this for hours and have watched a ton of tutorials but I'm still not getting the effect I want with my image.
Is it possible to clean up all "sketch" lines in this image, leave just the skull (with teeth) with smooth and dark lines. I want to turn this into a logo.
I can make this image black and white then quickly get rid of the red. I'm just looking to get rid of the gray sketch marks and make it all one solid black outline while keeping the lines the thickness they should be as to not alter the picture.
I'm using 2.8.6
I'd like to make the attached line about twice as thick. I have searched for hours how to accomplish this to no avail.
I use it to measure angles of micrographs (images taken with a microscope) --- the angle measure tool is great, and easy to use! I would like to be able to save the angle measure "rulers" into the image, for documentation purposes. Is there a way to incorporate the angle "ruler" in a layer or overlay in the image so that I can save a new file with the ruler "burned in" (for lack of a better term).
I will also be adding the text of the resulting angle measurement --- it would be cool if the result of the angle measure could be automatically added as text to the image (preferably in a different layer than the original image). I can type it the result with the text tool.
So I am creating this website, and my customer wants a header banner similar to this:
(I don't know if it's clear enough, but there are multiple lines going through the image, with different gradient colors and so on)
Now I can't use this image, since it belongs to another website, but I want to make my own. So, I have no clue about how to make these lines in GIMP. I know GIMP's interface very well (been cropping, coloring for years), but not advanced features like this.
And it's not only the lines, but also the shadowing/coloring in between the lines that I seriously have no clue about how to make.
What is the tool called used for making this? Is there a video tutorial on how to make something similar?
I have been a Photoshop hobbyist. Now I own a printing business. This has forced me into the world of Illustrator for our printing and cutting machines. Although I am very comfortable with PS, Illustrator. One of the key things is making "Cut lines" in Illustrator to send to the cutting program. Now here is my dillema, all of my images I have made are in Photoshop. To make these cut lines I have to stroke the image. When I bring a picture into Illustrator I can not get it to stroke that picture. It just strokes the box around it, or unless I draw a circle or shape around it and stroke that shape. Please refer to the picture I have attached. The first one is a decal that we initially made. The second is the image that I want to stroke for cut lines do I can just have that as a decal without the white circle.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Illustrator CS 5.1 and am having an issue with my PDF files. I have a graphic that I am building and when I import an image, place a clipping mask around it and then add a drop shadow to it, everything works fine and looks exactly as I want it on screen. However, when I save the document as a pdf, a hazy white line appears around the edges of the image.
However, the line is not on the clipping mask itself, instead it is on the square edges of the unmasked version of the image. So when I have 10 masked items on the page with drop shadows, I'm getting 10 faint white squares around each of the images which looks terrible.
Win 7 64 bit PSPX2 Ultimate (12.50)
If I open a new image Raster background (white) RGB-8bit/channel and put the size in inches centimetres or millimetres I get a black 1px line horizontal and vertical on the image. I either have to paint over it or open the image using pixels as the sizing.
Example: New image 1black spot saved.

I have only just found out how it occurs. It also is the same if I install PSP on Laptop (win7 64 bit)I make animations and can use upto 50 images replicating from the 1st image so if I forget to paint out the lines on number 1 image (as I did last week) and then put them through an animator and then scream when I see the black lines on the finshed animation. At least I now know to always use pixels as the size of the images.
Of course now I know I will try and use pixels when opening a new image (but would sooner use the other measurements )
